My hair after being left in the automatic dryer. I was asked to leave with it soaking wet in 20 degree weather and I refused
KD W.

I came to the salon to get a botched haircut fixed and so the stylist knew it was very important to me to leave knowing what the hair looked like and feeling confident in the fix/style. However, at the end of our appointment, which cost $88, she said that she didn't have time to finish drying my hair because she had a new client coming at 12:45 (it was 12:42 when she told me this). I even told my stylist I am disabled and have a hard time drying my own hair and she did not budge on her position to send me home without finishing the service. I added that I wasn't comfortable leaving with wet hair because I needed to know how the cut actually looked dry and I also explained that it was 20 degrees outside and that I wasn't comfortable going out in freezing temps with wet hair. Even with my objections, the best she could offer me was sticking me under the "automatic dryer" which made my hair come out crunchy and frizzy from all the products that hadn't been worked through my hair as they would've been with a manual hair-dry. I've been going to salons in A2 and Ypsi for years and have never been treated this way. I had to go home and style my own hair which was exhausting for me with my disability. I won't go back.

I got mini twists done here and they came out so cute. Amani was friendly and did a great job. I'll be back!

Update after owner response:…read more I want to clarify a few things in response to the owner's reply, because it does not reflect what happened. The conversation that led to this situation was not started by me. While I was in the chair, the discussion had already shifted into conspiracy topics. A client then came in and brought up the Israeli prime minister and his cancer, making comments expressing happiness about it. The tone of the conversation included laughter and engagement from others around, which made it extremely uncomfortable to sit through. As a Jewish customer, I felt put in a very difficult position, especially being mid-service and unable to simply step away. The direction of the conversation is what led me to speak up and say that I'm Jewish and that I didn't agree, even though I was genuinely nervous to do so. When I said that, there was a visible shift, people were caught off guard, apologized, and said they don't hate Jews, they "just hate him." That does not change what was said or how it came across in that moment. The owner was the one cutting my hair and was part of the conversation. When I said I needed to leave, I was already overwhelmed and in a state of panic. My hair was not finished, and I had to ask for clips to be removed so I could go. I then found myself at a locked door and had to wait to be let out, which added to the distress of the situation. I do want to be clear that I did verbally express myself strongly toward the end. I'm not denying that. My reaction came after everything I had just experienced, not before. The owner's response mentions creating a safe environment and staff feeling uncomfortable. I did not create that situation, I reacted to it. I was the one sitting in the chair while this conversation was happening around me. After I spoke up, the response included references to "Jewish support groups" and comparisons between Jewish people and the queer community that felt dismissive and out of place given the context.

I've been to this salon three times now since moving to Ann Arbor, after a friend recommended it…read moreand I'm so glad she did. I always book with Cameron Hawley, and honestly, he just gets hair. I don't trust many people with mine because it's taken me a long time to grow it out and take care of it, but he was the first person to cut it after two years of no trims, and I've been coming back every three months ever since. My hair has never felt better. I also brought my mom once, she wanted a short haircut, but Cameron made a better recommendation based on her face shape, and it turned out amazing. She left feeling so confident and beautiful! I've also been doing the strengthening treatment with my cuts, and it's made my hair noticeably healthier and shinier. This time around, I came in for a trim and a Keratin Express treatment, and the results were wowwwww. With all the rain lately, I usually get a ton of frizz, but this treatment actually works and is totally worth the hype. I also picked up a few products Cameron recommended including a mousse, an anti‑frizz serum, and a thermic treatment. Full disclosure: I'm a Kérastase lover and have been using the brand for years, but I didn't know about these specific treatments. Now I'm obsessed. My hair feels so smooth, glowy, and healthy. If you're picky about who touches your hair, Cameron is your guy. I couldn't be happier with the results every single visit!!!!

My name is Karissa Shannon, I am a high profile/recognizable celebrity Playboy playmate. I have…read morebeen in the entertainment industry for over 17 years. I have always been platinum blonde. I was getting my hair color done by Julia every 5 to 6 weeks just the roots and she fried the crown of my hair to the point where it feels like straw and is broken off! I will attach photos to my review. She was more concerned about timing and getting me in and out as quick as possible within the hour. She did not care about the health of my hair. She was using 40 volume and lying to me and telling me it was only 20 volume and she put me under the heater so of course the crown of my hair broke where the heater circulates. So the top of my head is only 2 inches now I can literally make a mohawk out of the top of my head only. It's going to take me years to grow it back. I'm not trying to write a whole paragraph but Julia did tell her Manager that I was upset about the breakage, and the only thing the manager offered was a free Kerastase protein/conditioning treatment. Since I'm in the entertainment industry, this has caused big problems for me as I have interviews lined up this month with us weekly, People Magazine, Dr. Phil, etc. Since all of the breakage, I had to get extensions to cover up all the breakage so One One Nine Salon suggested I go to Sarah who works there for extensions, she charged me $2800 for the extensions and an additional $500 to do my color which was Baby root not even a half inch and she broke my hair even more coloring the ends to try and blend the extensions with my real hair and it broke off. The extensions she put in after three nights of sleeping started to break my hair off and become so loose that it was hanging off of my head. I'm going to attach pictures. They overcharge and no one has enough experience or takes the time to do your hair in quality way. All they care about is getting you in and out and getting as much customers in there in one day as possible. Clearly, the manager does not care because I haven't been able to speak to the manager directly or even get any compensation for what's happened. Long story short if you were blonde, I highly suggest you do not go to the salon and definitely do not get extensions by Sarah.
