This is our second time at an OPH (two different locations) and we have yet to be disappointed. Our service was fabulous. She was attentive, friendly, and quick. The atmosphere was very diner like and we enjoyed the good warm coffee while we waited for our delicious meal! So to the food aspect: my partner got the Irish Omelette which had broccoli, corn beef hash, spinach, pepper jack cheese (his choice and we both agree it was a win). The omelette sounded overwhelming to me, but I am thankful my partner ordered it because it was good! He also ordered the English muffin. Which was also AMAZING! Now onto the western omelette, it was also wonderful. Eggs fluffy, a good amount of cheese (I picked cheddar). Everything was perfect. But the star of the show was my side of French toast. On my last day of summer vacation, I treated my mom to breakfast. This is one of her favorite breakfast spots, so naturally, this is where we ended up! We arrived closer to lunchtime than breakfast, which worked in our favor since there wasn't a wait. We were seated right away, and our server, Angela P., promptly came over for our coffee order. Two coffees later, we were ready to order. My mom, as always, went with her beloved Mushroom Omelet (a bit steep at $15.20 in my opinion), while I ordered a half portion of the Two by Four, which included one egg and two pancakes. It ended up being the perfect amount of food for me. I wasn't thrilled about the $1.60 upcharge for chocolate chips, but the pancakes were fluffy, delicious, and worth the splurge. The restaurant appears to have been remodeled since my last visit and it has a much nicer look and feel than I remembered. My only real complaint is the noise level. Every time I've been here it's been incredibly loud, making conversation a bit difficult and hindering the overall breakfast experience, especially before coffee. Overall, I understand why so many people (including my mom) love this place. The service was friendly, the food was good, and we left satisfied. It's just not my personal favorite breakfast spot in Buffalo, especially considering the prices and noise level. Recently ordered takeout and tried their largely talked about Apple Pancake. It was SEVERELY UNDERWHELMING in appearance and half burnt , but somehow still tasted very good. I just can't get past what I ordered and seen others partake in versus what I got. The a la carte eggs and bacon were also very good. Eggs cooked as ordered and bacon was thick sliced and well done NOT burnt. Also ordered Strawberry Pancakes and there were NO Strawberries inside, they were plain and provided a side of strawberries to use as a topping which is not what I ordered. I had a nice first experience! We went at 11 on Sunday morning, and our table of 6 did not have to wait to be seated (they also have an online waitlist you can join!) I ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar, a side of bacon and rye toast, and a side (3) blueberry pancakes. The pancakes are delicious here! Unfortunately, we ordered our pancakes with extra chocolate chips (which somehow costs $1.80...) and were surprised to find barely any on the pancakes. Turns out they put them in a separate container, which meant the chocolate chips were not melted on the pancakes at all. This is the only time that has happened when I've ordered extra chocolate chips on my pancakes anywhere and seems very counterintuitive. The breakfast potatoes are yummy though! Unfortunately, ordering takeout here is very complicated. The online ordering site has glitches (for example, if you select no onions for the breakfast potatoes, it shows up as "onions" on the order summary and arrives with onions). To make it worse, there's no way to speak to a human being at the restaurant on the phone, so you have to physically go there to order and wait for your food there. Very frustrating. If you're not going to allow people to call your restaurant directly, the online ordering should be seamless, and it's not. It also doesn't allow for written customizations. Came in for a super quick breakfast after Record Store Day, and we had a nice time! We came in on a super busy morning and were excited to be seated pretty quickly for how busy it was inside. Our server was super nice and attentive to our table as well as answering questions about the menu and rewards program as it was our first time there. We walked in at 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning and we're seated right away surprisingly. Even though the restaurant was full, people kept moving in and out. We ordered a cinnamon apple pancake with sides of potatoes and bacon, and I was go by the size of the pancake (which is really a Dutch baby). Great breakfast for a party of 8 during the week. We had to wait only a few minutes for the team to put some tables together before we were seated. The restaurant is easy to find and has parking on the side. If you are facing the building, parking is on the right side of the building. The restaurant is accessible though could be tight maneuvering through all of the tables & chairs on a busy day. Male/Female-specific bathrooms are also accessible and located down the back hallway. Our server took great care of us and got our drinks and food orders in quickly. She was efficient and checked on us for beverage refills regularly. A highlight of the meal was my nephew's blueberry crepes - he loved them - and the side of bacon was thick and well-prepared. My spinach and feta omelette was one of the best I've had, and I appreciate that the side of pancakes were NOT enormous. Met my elderly mother here for breakfast and my husband and I got there first. They told us they would not seat us until our entire party was there. ( And there were a ton of tables available). I thought that was kind of ridiculous at a breakfast place. My husband and I just wanted to have a cup of coffee while we waited for my mom. Then after our waitress came and left to get us drinks, two other people came over at different times asking us if we wanted coffee etc... Very disorganized. Everything took forever from getting the drinks, to getting the food, to getting the bill, etc. Food was OK but portions were just way too big and the kielbasa was greasy and fatty. At one point I really needed another napkin and our waitress could not be found. We were sitting right next to the hostess station so I asked the hostess if I could get a napkin and she simply said "no I don't have one" and turned away. It was unbelievable. This thing was decadent beyond belief, gooey, sweet, doughy, piled high with tart apples. And even with two adults eating we barely finished half of it. The bacon was also top notch, thick cut and chewy crisp. The only downside was that the home fries were loaded with onions to the point where they really overpowered not only that dish, but the meal until we set them aside. I went to The Original Pancake House for late breakfast in Buffalo NY on my way between work in Rochester NY and a flight out of Buffalo. The place was still very busy on a Thursday morning around 10:45am and service was friendly and very good. Eggs over medium cooked perfectly with a little runny yolk but not in the range of over easy. Egg quality was better than average as seen by the yolk color. The bacon was also a better quality of thick (but not too thick) and crispiness, but still tender and very tasty. The pancakes were pretty good as well - golden, not overdone and not undercooked. Would give ZERO if I could. Have had several poor experiences here post-Covid and today was the last straw. We've been longtime customers and keep trying to come back and always leave with regret. From botched seating experiences with unnecessary long wait times, to poor service, to ridiculous wait times for food - the floor and kitchen have both gone incredibly down hill. There is NO leadership on the floor to resolve issues properly whenever we have had a problem. There are a few veteran servers left, and I don't know how they stay. The eggs are fluffy, cheesy and everything you could hope for in an omelette and the pancakes will knock your socks off. If you liked Pb&J as a kid(I obviously still do), this is a must try. The strawberry syrup is just the perfect topping for the peanut butter pancakes. As long as you are ok with sticky tables and little substitutions available, the service and the food will be worth the wetnaps. Ample seating, place can def get packed around breakfast time. The original Original Pancake house! Yup it's still there and nothing has changed except for the dividers between the booths are taller. The fresh orange juice machine has disappeared some where. Even though they still serve fresh squeezed orange juice , you just can't watch the oranges go through the machine one by one till they add up to a full small or large cup. They still make Dutch Babies, those delicious puffy soufflés with strawberry, lemon wedges, powdered sugar, butter and fresh strawberry sauce that manage to last two meals and you can only order when you are with a patient friend! And they are still delicious. Yes there are crepes and omelettes and Steele cut oats and English muffins and all the other goodies you either know and love or should know and love. The service is always busy and you still have to try to catch their attention for extra napkins. But they are still always cheerful and more than happy to get more coffee or Splenda for you.
