Went on a Saturday about 10:30am only had to wait about 10 minutes, we were sat at the bar though. Everyone was very friendly. I got a hot chocolate which tasted like any other hot chocolate nothing special, but it kept me warm. For food I got the Breakfast Skillet which was amazing. It was a lot of food, I brought about half home. The potatoes were nice and crispy and the peppers were great. I definitely recommend getting the Breakfast Skillet. read more

This place is delightful! We stopped in here on the way to Niagara Falls and there was a wait, but was worth it. My husband and I both got The New Standard and everything was fantastic. He got pancakes and I got the chef's special French Toast (Fruity Pebbles that day) and we were both delighted. The extra something to the visit was the service. Our server's name was Peggy and she was amazing!! She was quick, efficient, and very friendly. It was our first time there, but she made us feel like regulars. Alright ... it's been awhile since I wrote about my favorite breakfast joint ... well it's a lot more sophisticated since my last visit (Guy has been here too and a stranger in NJ hearing I was from Buffalo asked me if I knew about Sophia's... of course I have!). On a Tuesday morning at 10am the parking lot is full ... breakfast in Buffalo is an essential meal and breakfast out is a regular habit! Today I am so tempted to indulge in the 'InLove Buffalo's omelette with its Italian sausage banana peppers pepperoni and mozzarella but it's their corned beef hash I seek when I come "home" to Buffalo. Greeted with "warmth" (It's unbearably hot outside so some folks might want to be cooly welcomed (thankfully the air conditioning was working nicely). In fact, an extremely friendly staff member apologized for my wait to be served even though the wait wasn't long. I love the vibe and energy of the room. Happy people enjoying each other's company and being friendly to strangers they meet. I ordered my corned beef hash with the homemade toast plus of course coffee. It was breakfast perfection and I was going to have one minor complaint ... the jelly basket only contain grape jelly and that odd concoction mixed fruit jelly. I was going to note that there was a problem but when my smiling and friendly waitress came by to ask if I needed anything. I said strawberry jam and she said of course. So no complaints! First timer. Went around lunch time and ordered the Philly steak omelette and a side of chocolate chip pancakes. Omelette was really good but best part of meal was the home fries. Went on a Saturday expecting a crazy long wait because a ton of people were waiting outside. They told us about a 25 minute wait for 2 but really it was more like 15 minutes. Everything we got was delicious. I got the new standard but was able to substitute meat for home fries. My husband got the breakfast burrito. The pancakes were my favorite part. Pros: New ambiance is bright, modern and welcoming. The change up the street to the new location did not compromise the taste. Sophia's is still serving up great service and savory food. Went this past Sunday and was happy to experience that although they close at 2pm, that meant they seat the last customers at that time, not the last plate of food at that time. I had the chef special pancakes of the week which were a blueberry creme. It was rich, fluffy, nice balance of buttermilk flavor, well done and NOT burnt (like some can't seem to understand), AND a healthy, no hold bars amount of blueberries. Yum. And that was just the side, short Stack order so I could taste it. I also tried the Sammy's omelette which was very good. Good fresh, ingredients. My guests had the meatlovers omlette, which he loved. The breakfast special of simple sausage and chicken, eggs sunny side up, and homefries. Which he enjoyed besides "dry chicken" Another guest had the 1/2 chicken, 1/2 beef breakfast soulvaki, which they said was pretty ok/good because the chicken was also dry but seasoned well. Cons: The amount for a glass of milk was the same as 2 GALLONS would've been. We can understand a mark up, but that was a bit much coming in at $6 for one cup. And we had to ask several times for lemon for our water and when it initially arrived it was presented on a napkin, but Monica did give great service everywhere else which is why she kept her 22% tip. All in all, Sophia's is a GREAT place to get good food and service. It's a consistent yes for us. read more

Had breakfast today with a couple friends. The place is warm and welcoming. A nice bar and front room as well as a large back room. There is also a big patio area that would be very nice in warmer weather. We were promptly seated and our server came and offered beverages. I had coffee and a Bloody Mary. The bloody was nicely spiced and came with a strip of bacon, lemon,lime, olive and pepperoni. Tasty! My omelette of thickly cut pepperoni and cheddar was delicious and the home fries were hot and crispy. The big difference here is the homemade bread/toast. Both the white and rye were nicely toasted and made the exception as far as breakfast goes. The companions enjoyed the eggs Benedict and a standard bacon and eggs plate. Not a long wait time and a good size parking lot. This is a busy place so you may have to wait at times. Waiter was pleasant and friendly. This is a fine place for breakfast. I've never tried their lunch or dinner. One plus is a bar so you can enjoy a cocktail with you meal. I opted for the scrambled eggs with sausage and homefries. The helping of potatoes weas more than enough, although it is a dollar extra to add onions, as I did. The ambience is modern and clean. Of the three of us dining, one ordered the standard, one ordered the fried bologna with a cup of tortellini Florentine soup and I had the bloody Mary with the steak pita and a side salad. It was busy for lunch when we were there on a Wednesday. Parking was limited. Getting into the restaurant is a bit strange. There is a front door but with a sign "use side door". No arrow pointing which side. You enter through the covered patio. They have a big menu with many breakfast all day options. I had the eggs Benedict. The eggs were great with a runny yolk, a fat slice of Canadian bacon and plenty of sauce Hollandaise. It comes with home fries. These were okay, some onions would have been nice for a little more flavor. Our waitress was very busy but kept an eye on our table to make sure if we needed anything. Sophia's does not take reservations and no separate checks. For groups of 6 or more they automatically add 18% gratuity. read more

Floofiest pancakes I've had in a while and just a lovely brunch! I recently tried Sophia's for the first time and was really happy with my experience. I went for brunch on a weekday and there was a short wait, which is a great sign! Often brunch spots are dead mid-week, but this place is clearly popular. We were seated after 15-mins and were offered drinks and provided menus. There was a full suite of breakfast and lunch options. I desperately wanted pancakes, but didn't want pancakes exclusively. Fortunately, they had some combo options that fit the bill. I was allowed to sub in home fries for the meat, so I was a happy camper! The home fries were great with just a tiny bit of grease to make them tasty. I did have to salt my eggs, but they nailed the over medium cook. The pancakes were spectacular. I was only able to eat one of the pancakes on spot, but the other one did NOT go to waste. The restaurant space was a step up from a typical greasy spoon environment. We had a comfortable half-booth, half-table. Families and friend groups were happily dining in the spacious dining room. There was also a large covered patio, but it wasn't open when we visited. Overall, Sophia's is a solid brunch option! Go get those pancakes! read more

Had lunch at Sofia's on a Friday afternoon 1st time we didn't have to wait for a seat. The waitress came over pretty quick was so nice and friendly helped us to decide what drink to get we went for the mimosa on the beach! Was a great choice had champagne orange juice peach schnapps a touch of pineapple I would differently get it again! My daughter started with the creamy chicken Italian soup from my order I didn't want the soup or fries or little salad. Was very thick, creamy and plenty of chicken she must of liked it she ate it all. I had the tuna melt it's been awhile since I had one and it was great . Was made with thick white bread that made the sandwich great with plenty of tuna that was coming over the bread with lettuce, cheese and tomato and grilled to perfection.
