The restaurant was very clean. The food was delicious. I had the breakfast. Eggs, home fries and steak. The first day I went in it was very quiet and very few people there. Two days later, I returned and it was packed. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it took a little bit longer to get the food than what I thought it should take for breakfast. Approximately 15-20 minutes each time I went. I will return when I come back into town. read more

We love a good diner for breakfast and Charlie's has been dishing up great food for over a half-century! We parked on the street, but there is an off-street lot out back. Charlie's is a bastion of community life as evidenced by the "round table " ( actually its rectangular and usually populated by the movers and shakers in town). Today was no exception! My Rick Special was delightful! It's 1/2 eggs Benedict with corned hash! Just wonderful! My better half ordered up a plate of scrambled eggs and diced ham. Equally delicious! We got there before the normal Sunday breakfast rush you'd find everywhere. It was still busy but there were 2 seats at the bar available. The staff was super friendly and welcoming!! The veggie scramble was good with some added ketchup, salt and pepper. This was a tough one. We were surprised what appeared to be an unassuming local diner was so slow, even with as busy as it was. By the end of our meal, we determined the reason this place is so busy is because the food really is of a much higher quality than similar places. The wait after ordering still seemed a little longer than warranted for breakfast food, even with the crowd and higher quality ingredients. My husband was able to add peppers and onions to the home fries he had with his eggs and toast, and he was blown away by the peppers in particular. I tried the malted Belgian waffle. Apparently the malted milk powder really fills whatever waffles are otherwise missing for me because I've never enjoyed a waffle this much. It's richer and heartier. My sons had silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes. Service was good, especially when we found ourselves pressed for time, and she was able to cash us out quickly. Worth a visit if you aren't in a rush (we actually weren't until we were). Prices are a smidge higher than your typical diner, but this isn't typical diner food quality. Expect long waits and great food rather than a quick in and out with average breakfast fare, and you won't be disappointed. read more

Great diner-style breakfast in the heart of the EA village. Prices are right on par with what you would expect for traditional breakfast dishes - egg/meat/toast/home fry combos, eggs benedict, corned beef hash, pancakes,. My friend ordered the Daily Special, which was only $11 and came with 2 eggs, choice of meat, home fries, toast, and pancakes or French toast. He went with French toast, which was cut like Texas toast and had buttery, crisp edges. It was a massive breakfast that didn't disappoint. I had eggs, sausage patties (they have links too), home fries, and toast. It was all so delicious once I added a sprinkle of salt and a few shakes of hot sauce. My only complaint is that my homemade toast was burnt on the edges. I love that they have homemade bread at Charlie's. There's three different choices - white, wheat, cinnamon. The cinnamon bread makes the best French toast. East Aurora is lucky to have this diner with homecooked food. Bonus is that there is outdoor seating. They have a screen around the porch and although it is not completely enclosed, it does help to keep some flies out. read more

Food fresh and homemade breads! Servings were large and prices reasonable. The staff was lovely. We ate country scramble, club sandwiches and chicken gumbo soup. We came to Charlie's diner after a long day of shopping in EA. Service is fast and the waitresses are friendly. My boyfriend got a breakfast wrap and I got the tuna melt. What really made the sandwich for me was the homemade rye bread. Overall, I'm rating Charlie's Diner a 3. Although the food and service were good, the fruit flies were outrageous. At one point we were swatting three around our faces while we were trying to eat. I would come back in the summer to enjoy the front patio for lunch. read more

I met two friends here yesterday for breakfast at 11. I got here about half an hour early. They took my name down and put a note with it stating that my friends weren't there yet. I was told I would be at the top of the list though. The inside of the restaurant seems a bit packed/squished. (I walked in a bit to put my name down and noticed how close to the wall the counter seats are. Five running friends and I were seated to the left, years ago. The restaurant seemed right at that time. When one of my two friends showed up, the hostess found me and told me I could be seated. (I was sitting on a rock near the sidewalk.) Luckily, we were able to sit on the patio. There are screens around the patio, where it's almost like a sun room. It was a great touch. I ordered grapefruit juice and coffee. My friends and I all ordered the Daily Special. It's a LOT of food for only $11. You can choose from two eggs any style, home fries, your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham AND toast PLUS two pancakes or French toast. I chose scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and pancakes instead of french toast. (I was asked links or patties on the sausage.) They have many kinds of bread for the toast. I chose the homemade cinnamon bread and it was so delicious!!! I paid an extra $1.00 to have chocolate chips added to my pancakes. It was SO worth it!!! My friends had a soft boiled egg, over easy, bacon, ham, and French toast. They were pleased with their meals. We didn't have to wait that long for our food. One girl seated us, another girl refilled our coffees, and another woman took our orders and brought our food. I asked for water later on and I didn't have to wait long at all for a water. Prior to placing our order, I asked if we could de separate checks. The waitress was fine with that. I think we should've paid inside but I'm not sure. We had to wait a bit for the waitress to return to take my cash and my friend's' credit cards. I loved my experience here. It was great and I'm happy I came here. I'll gladly return. read more

Charlie's is a great home-town restaurant. I come here every time I am in the area or getting my car worked on at West Herr. You come in and seat yourself. Service is fast. The food is pretty average. I either get the BLT sandwich, chicken fingers or French toast when I come. The French toast is pretty good. The chicken fingers come plain with sauce on the side. Might seem like a small detail but chicken fingers are significantly better when they are tossed in sauce. Staff is very friendly. Will definitely come back! They couldn't tell me how long the wait would be (I guess several others had the same idea) but took my phone number and said I could either wait on the covered patio or in my car and they would text when a table was ready. We waited about 30-35 minutes, which meant I was nice and hungry when seated. My father ordered the breakfast combo with eggs, rye toast, bacon, home fries, and homemade French toast. I went with a mushroom, ham and pepper jack cheese omelet (which came with home fries and toast) . The food came rather quickly (thank god) and there was a lot of it! The best of the food choices was definitely the French toast (cooked perfectly , sweet, barely any syrup was needed) and the home fries (nice big crispy chunks of potato, well seasoned) . My omelet was good but could have used a bit more cheese (I've had better but I've had worse) . The prices are decent too, in a town like East Aurora where you would expect to pay more, that was a pleasant surprise! I'd like to come back for lunch sometime. read more

They were busy for a Tuesday afternoon, but it was really nice to sit on their screened in porch. I had a spinach and feta omelette that was very generous with both the spinach and the feta. Their home fries are seasoned perfectly. One perk that you might find here as opposed to other restaurants is that their wheat bread and white bread are homemade. We have come to Charlie's off and on throughout the years but I have never left a review so I feel I need to. First off the best thing about Charlie's is they offer homemade bread! This is a must order every time you come! Now this is a diner so if you love breakfast it's perfect, if your not into breakfast then think sandwiches. On this occasion I had a taste for chicken fingers - I assumed since the bread is homemade maybe the chicken fingers would be...my bad they weren't and my whole meal I wish I ordered something else. My daughter loves breakfast and their cinnamon bread so that was a give in. My wife rarely eats protein but wanted tuna and their homemade rye bread we ordered and 10 minutes later she was told they didn't have tuna that day. But it was a Friday and they had fish so the waitress talked her into a fish sandwich since she wanted the rye bread. Unfortunately when our meal came it was on a Costanzzos roll. She just ate the fish which was breaded and had a slight kick which she loved! My only real reason for the 3 stars is cause they had problems changing the order in their computer so had to do this weird refund and over charged us. We used to eat here all the time. We haven't much in past year until today. What a difference. Waiting 45 min for our food (restaurant was not busy). Fries were just covered in grease where they were dripping. The roast beef sandwich I ordered was burnt and the roll was greasy. My kids fingers were dried out. Had to put a review for this place....My ex and I were going here for a while...mainly getting breakfast....It was going ok....One waitress actually knew what we wanted when we got in so that was kind of personal service....She was always friendly.... Well, I used to get their burgers which were very good....Homemade, came with fries, and for a nice price...I'd almost call it a secret place to get a great burger.... Well on day we went in there, and I got my usual burger....I thought it looked odd when it came out but I figured it's homemade they will different sometimes....Well as soon as I bit into it I knew something was different and wrong....The texture was completely different, and the burger tasted absolutely awful.....I mean it tasted like a bunch of chemicals, or maybe even dog food....It was that bad.... When the waitress came by I asked her if this was a frozen burger...She told me yes, that they no longer make homemade burgers because the price of beef was getting too expensive so the owner decided on frozen....Well I couldn't even finish my burger it was that gross....No refund, or money off.... No biggie I thought, they still serve a good breakfast....Well on one of our next visits I got breakfast and my eggs over medium....When I got them the yolks were broke, and I don't think they could have been cooked anymore.....They were completely cooked through, and well done ! Totally dry ! Well when she finally came back towards the end of our meal (I was just about done) I mentioned to her that the eggs were completely cooked through, and not how I asked....I was basically more or less letting her know the cook cooked them way off....Not trying to get a refund or anything - I liked this place for breakfast, and just wanted them to know.....She replied " didn't you complain the last time you were here about your burger?" Well, obviously that is the last time we ever visited that place again.....The waitress was extremely rude.....There was also another waitress that was very rude to us on another occasion.....Those two are not cut out for serving positions...Maybe auto-mechanic where they could slam some wrenches around or something when they get mad..... I would say I had a overall good experience here. I was in quick with acceptable service. Food was a bit unimpressive. I received small portions or the price. It tasted good but was not American sized meals. If it would have been more affordable it would have been great. Maybe I just caught them on the day they ran out of French fries. Everytime I order online there's always a mistake they make either it being no item or the wrong today I ordered a Belgian waffle and cinnamon toast and I got 2 slices of French toast like come on everyone got a pair of eyes you can literally read the order and put it in the right way not the other way around. They have extremely good cinnamon toast but when you don't get what you ordered then what's the point in ordering in the first place. I always like the food here. Homemade bread and it just seems like food you'd cook yourself if you felt like it. But don't wasn't to shop, cook and clean lol. Waitresses are always nice. There is a patio, that used to be a bee haven, but now it's all screened in. Long lines for bfast on weekends, only bc it's a great place for breakfast. We came for lunch- no line and we both got the Rueben on homemade bread. It was so good. So good. I ate half, got full and had the second half for my late night snack. I was a bit confused at first because I wasn't greeted promptly at all, but a nice lady came and let me know you just sit where ever you want. I got the eggs benedict and my friend got pancakes with sausage. The eggs benedict was good but a little plain, nothing a little pepper and hot sauce couldn't fix. My friend LOVED the pancakes!!!
