Really!!! i'm from New York and lived in an Italian town and it is some of the best I've ever had!!! and during happy hour you totally can't beat it!!! and weirdly enough the broccoli and carrots and garlic are such a delicious healthy vegetable option!!!! Ok...there are a bunch of reviews saying "AMAZING-best EVER" and some saying "AWFUL" over something stupid like a missed salad or a to-go box that spilled. So, here is a review from a real "EYE-TALIAN". Honest and right the point. 1. The pizza. It's good. It's really good. Good flavor, good mix of sauce, dough and cheese in each bite. (I judge a pizza place on their PLAIN pie. Toppings hide stuff!). The plain pie shows it's a rock solid pizza place. I would come back...for the PIZZA. 2. The rest...No. That's why 3 stars (I would do 2 for dinners; 4 for the pizza!). It is very clear that the sauce used in the apps as well as the dinners is NOT made from scratch. This wrecks EVERYTHING. I'll even help you out; basic marinara sauce: olive oil, garlic, cut up an onion and sauté. Add crushed tomatoes with salt and pepper with oregano and basil. You can add what spices you want from there. Whatever shortcut you're doing...it ruined ALL of your tomato based pasta dishes as well as the dipping sauces. If you're not going to do the dinners right, JUST do pizza. It's almost like you have two groups making their own sauces. Your service was fine. The pizza was SOLID. You have so much potential!!!! That red sauce...it's killing you. I mean, is an Italian even making it?!?! Fire whoever is behind that "idea" of a sauce and fix it. It will do wonders for every...single...tomato based dish. 3 of us went to Santos last night. As soon as we walked in, the server came over to us and said they do not have a full menu. She started to tell us what they did have, but we asked if we could look at the menu. She basically told us that Santos isn't there anymore AGAIN. Stuck to the top of the menu was a note that said everything on the menu was an extra dollar. Fine, we got that, but AFTER we ordered, she told us that none of the prices were correct! We asked how much our meals that we ordered would actually be. One of us would have paid an extra $9 and another of us was close to that. Both of those women wanted to change their order. The server kept running back and forth between us, the register and the manager who was the owner. Apparently he took some money off of the bills when she told him those women were complaining. A nice looking woman walked in and that was the end of the owner/manager, it seemed as if they knew each other and we really didn't care, except when it started getting busy, he was needed in the kitchen. She had his full attention, leaving one man to do all of the cooking. So, 2 of us had pizza. We both threw it out when we got home. The other did the same with her meal. It used to be SO good and we loved going there! The server told us they were going under just like before and they would be closing. They weren't making any money. We could see why! I always stop here for a really delicious slice of pizza. As an ex-New Yorker, Santos satisfies my craving. I also go there to pickup a pizza to go. I'm always in a hurry to get home to enjoy a pie to before it gets cold, so I have a special insulated pizza bag to keep it warm. Today, after picking up food to go so many times, I discovered a pleasant oasis in the backyard where I could sit quietly and eat delicious Italian food in a leisure setting. I've been eating at Santo's for as long as I can remember. When I was in high school, I single-handedly ran them out of Chicken Parm heros. I mean, it's an exaggeration. But you get the gist. Santo himself is usually on site making the magic happen. The menu is like a novel. Appetizers, pizzas, calzones, entrées, sides, desserts, etc. There might be 100 different items on the menu. Even though they posses a crazy big menu, they focus on quality, too. Until tonight, I probably haven't eaten here in two years. Lo and behold, all our food was great. We had a large group with a reservation. We were seated late. It took half an hour to get beverages. The food came out piecemeal and cold more than 45 minutes after ordering. Nothing we ordered was complicated- mostly off the happy hour menu. The chicken was inedible and the coffee was cold and not drinkable. The last thing to arrive was a cold antipasto. The few times I have been to Santos is with a big group at lunch. We were served buffet style. They are very accommodating and friendly; boss and staff. The outside patio is really cozy and cool right now. We usually have a pasta dish, chicken with mushrooms, meatballs and another chicken dish, and salad.
