This is an outstanding public golf course. Greens are fast, the place is well kept as it can be being a public course. Tucked away in Margate. Its economical, they have a great friendly staff: from the golf shop, the bartenders, cart staff. A driving range is available and practice putting green. Food options are delicious if you choose to eat before or after you golf. I just need to get myself outside more. Id be here all the time. read more

I don't understand the positive reviews of this course. Among the worst courses I've played in my 30 years of golf. From the spotty spraying of pesticides/herbicides that stains every tee box and fairway, to the crowded conditions, depressing environment (the surrounding apartments encroached on every fairway and they looked like out of date prison facilities), the torturous pace of play, and less than economical rates (I paid over $80 - inclusive of a bucket of range balls), I would NEVER recommend this course. Staff was a mix... the starter and cart girl were nice, but the club pro was an absolute ass (how dare I ask if they had matches for a cigar). Stay. Away. read more

Oriole Golf Club offered a nice, friendly course. Fairways and greens were in nice shape. Overall it was a pretty nice course and value for the cost. They did not have a club house with food. But they did offer beverages and the cart lady did have some small snacks. I would golf here again. read more

Let's start with online booking....horrible website management! Asks for passwords, memberships and credit card number to make a tee time. Next week your password is not recognized. Check in and "Grumpy George" will take your money and bad mouth GOLFNOW (because they publish reviews?) Sent us out at 3:00 with a very nice couple (who used gold AND red tees) and expected us back at 6:00? George and cart attendant bitched at us for rturning at 6:35. (Think teenager missing curfew and parents waiting). " You were supposed to be back here by 6:00!!" "We almost locked you out!!". Nothing was said to us about being back and no notice on scorecard or when tee time was booked when we were required to finish 18 holes. They said they called us....called out to us? We heard nothing and the last two fairways run parallel and only a couple hundred yards from clubhouse. How about riding out to advise of us to return? Do not give these jokers your money. There are too many nice courses in South Florida who know how to treat their customers. read more

The only reason this place received 2 stars and not 1 is because George at the front desk was polite and patient. The overall experience was disappointing. I grew up down here, but I don't live here. We are visiting family and thought it would be fun to enjoy a round of golf. Not only did they not offer pricing for 9 holes, but their fees were overpriced for what we received. First off, you can't even take the golf cart you rented until your tee time. My dad and I were only spectators and had to pay $25 each just to watch. Then, after a few holes, a woman on a cart goes whizzing by without stopping. I asked my husband, "Was that the golf cart girl? I would have loved a drink if that was." By the 8th hole, that same cart girl went by again. She never stopped, or asked if we wanted anything. No smile or wave as she went whizzing by once again. At this point, I was annoyed! We stopped after 9 holes because we were waiting on the 4 guys ahead of us, and the 4 guys behind us were waiting on us. I went into the pro shop to share my frustrations about the cart girl, and the woman at the desk was rude. The course is crappy, and the staff is incompetent and rude. We will spend our money elsewhere next time. Save yourself the trip and / or frustration. read more

"I should Have Looked at Yelp Reviews Before I Went" My wife, son and I Golf once a week in the area and decided to check it out. We paid for 18 holes at 4:22 PM more than enough time to finish a round. At hole #7 a lightning storm came out of nowhere.Everyone playing headed in. We went to the Pro shop which was closed to get a rain check. I called the next day and was treated like I was trying to steal from them. Anywhere else around they give rain checks no problem (Colony West Etc,). The guy kept saying "Your Not Listening To Me"...Well buddy representing Yelp customers your not listening to us. Here's how customer service works, you keep the $40.92 dollars i figure you owe us (Out of the $80. I paid) and choke on it. Then I tell everyone I meet this story (I'm already up to 12) and they tell 10 people and so on. It's a shame because this is a nice course with a good layout, but there are not good people running it. Bad policies, Horrible Customer Service, Bad people. read more

Course is in decent shape.. Id happily pay the extra 20$ to play at Coral Springs Country Club. Too many drunks out here that ruin a good time. Whenever, I play this course there is always a problem. All my buddy's have the same story. Expect for a blast to the 1970s between the scenery and the irate 60 yr olds that are drunk with no etiquette. (Don't have anything against older players), it's gotten out of hand. These folks hit the ball while you're within 200 yards reach. Great place to golf if you're looking for a fight. Great Value. The World Famous Oriole Golf Course, as I call it, is a good place to chase a white ball around. Centrally located in Margate, this course was built in the 70s and is in acceptable shape. My four star rating is probably more of a sentimental thing. I have been playing here for years and I just love the place. The fairways and greens are in good condition and the price to play off season is just to good to be true. I've started playing every Monday and the Florida resident rate is like 16 and change for 18 holes. That price is when you play between 1030a thru 330p during the weekdays. Kids also play free after 330p during the week. There are no rangers on the course, but I have never seen a reason for them to hire any. The play usually moves along at a good clip. The staff is very friendly and not at all stuffy like alot of places I have played. I would say this is a straight blue collar vibe which also makes this place special. They have a beer cart girl with sandwiches, snacks, drinks etc. She comes around pretty frequent so getting some subsidence ( my new word courtesy of Thor) is never a problem. The clubhouse is old, but $hit I like it. The food is solid and the price is extremely cheap. The have a sandwich special that is only 3.99. That price and the food you get is a throwback to the 1970s and to top it off you can eat at the sunken bar. If you are really lucky you will meet the bartender Jen, who has a quick wit and is easy on the eyes...lol see pic. Jen wanted to pose for the pic in a bikini, but I said that wasn't necessary...what the hell was I thinking...LOL. It's always a pleasure to shoot the $hit with her while drinking some beers. Oriole, I love you and don't change a damn thing. You are perfect to me and don't listen to any golf snobs that say you are old and tired. They are attentive to their "everyday" guests but if you're not a part of that crowd, forget about it. They mock you right in front of you. They don't care. A Mangy Old Dog I bought a condo on this course two and a half years ago and have played this course ONCE!!! The greens are horrible. Have you ever seem a dog with mange? Not a good experience at all, we showed up 10 minutes prior to our tee time but the manager had started to send out 3 groups in front of us claiming we were late so we got sent out 45 minutes after our tee time. On top of this the course is in mediocre shape at best, there are fire ants EVERYWHERE so watch your step but there are plenty of other courses in the are for the same price that are much better courses in the area to spend your money at. The only good experience we had during the day was the woman working the front desk who realized what a ridiculous situation we were put in and did everything she could to help but unfortunately that will not be enough for me and my friends to ever come back to this course read more

The greens are some of the best in Broward! The staff is very welcoming as well and will work hard to get you out with a friendly group. They are always improving the course , currently they are repairing the sprinkler system ! It's the place to play now and going forward ! read more

Haven't played this course in a long time due to all of the extremely unfriendly pro shop employees. Today, I was pleased to see somebody that was unfamiliar to me behind the desk. The location for me is extremely convenient. The Course itself is less than mediocre.And the customer service, is well, it's unfortunately in a league of its own. I played here on Sunday because it was raining in Boca. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It was $30 with cart and $5 for 40 balls at the range. The course itself is in good shape. The greens are rolling. You have to use every club in your bag. The only thing about the course is that there are no true dog legs so it is pretty straight. The staff was very friendly. It was quite the hidden gem. It was not crowded and the guy that I was paired with was very friendly. The pace of play was fine and the carts were newish. I liked it enough where I will look to play it again. read more

The superintendent has done wonders with this course over the past 2 years. The fairways are now beuatiful and the greens much better than before. Some of the more difficult greenside bunkers have been removed or made easier and I love that! read more

Terrible. Got there early to hit some balls on the range with my girlfriend. Had a tee time scheduled. Pro shop guy tells me he can't give me a cart because he's got too many tee times before mine. I go outside and see 8 carts lined up. So I grab both bags and trudge 200 yards over to the range. Hit balls, come back and 6 of the 8 carts are still sitting there. Then go into pro shop again and proshop guy now won't let me and the girlfriend ride in the same cart meanwhile there are 20 old guys sitting around the bar with not a single one having a mask on spewing Covid all over each other. Course is infested with iguanas. You can much much better anywhere in South Florida. read more

Total dick in the pro shop tried to charge me for my 12 year old son, because we'd paid on Golfnow rather then to the golf club direct. Way too much chain link fencing and too many oiks in cargo shorts, but what can one expect for $15? read more

I can't help but give any golf course less that three stars. This is an old course that was probably considered pretty nice about thirty years ago. A bit run down, but close to where I was staying, inexpensive and nice folks. Like many Florida courses, mostly flat and easily walkable. Have played here many times over the years and most probably will return. read more

Well, I'll start with the golf.... In from out of town, so had to rent clubs. Get to the club house an hour and a half early, check in and tell them we need clubs, and he brings out these garage sale clubs from 1998. Ok, so I'm here to have fun right? The fucking grip on the putter was completely warm off, like no rubber at all! So we get ready to go to the range, and can't get a cart until 10 mins before our tee time. So walk over to th e range and when it's time go get our cart. Go in to get beverages, and the chick at the bar forgot to bring her personality to work apparently.... And u need to leave your car key to get a cooler! Wouldn't want that 1.50 styrofoam cooler to disappear. Anyway, corse is real decent, I'd play again for sure, greens are fast and fairways are wide, some water on the front but that's fine. Nice selection of shits and hats in the clubhouse, and the beverage girls was spunky and nice.... It if you want to rent, and you are decent at the game, don't play here if u have to rent... read more

Other than it is cheap to play here. It wasn't worth the time. 1. Crappy golf carts. 2. Bring a lot of water with you unless you want to buy from cart girl. There are only two water fountains with no pressure. 3. If there was a ranger I didn't see one. 4. The tee boxes were torn up or mostly sand/dirt. 5. The greens were so dry it was like putting on a rug. 6. No range markers. So unless you have an eye for distance or electronic assistant your out of luck. read more

Wow, just saw these reviews when looking for the address to send to a friend. Let me say first that I am a experienced golfer of 34 years and I play 1 to 3 times a week depending. I want you to know that I know what I'm talking about. I play about a dozen different courses in a 20 mile radius of Margate. This is not the best of those courses but it certainly a good choice. Not the hardest or easiest. Reasonably priced. Great Food. Most of the employees are helpful and friendly. I play here at least every other week or so and have been doing so for 4 years. Dan is correct, Jenny is a pleasure... to deal with and yes, to look at. lol. However as wonderful as she is she is just one of the many reasons I keep coming back to Oriole and consider it my "home course." Remember folks, this is a Public not a Private Course and set your expectations accordingly. Do that and I believe you will leave happy. read more

Never go here. As an avid golfer in the South FL area, this is by far the worst golfing experience I have had. The service in the pro shop was rude, impersonal and inefficient. Three people behind the counter that just socialized with other customers while several people stood in line. George called me up without even making eye contact while continuing to stare at his computer. Very impersonal. And this is the only course in the area that they make you wait UNTIL your tee time to pay. So you can go warm up but then you have to come in and pay. Makes ZERO sense. The course is also in terrible condition. No one fills their divot marks, the tee boxes are lumpy and dont make for good balance. The greens are unbelievably bad. They are also lumpy and filled with divots and sand. I get it, its the winter months but seriously, Instead of a smooth roll to the hole, the ball bounces most of the way to the hole ending up wherever it pleases. The best part of the day was the Drink Lady on the course. The only staff member with with a smile on her face. A frustrating experience for sure. I would never recommend this course to anyone, there are many other public courses in the local area that are much better maintained, employ a friendlier staff, practice efficient management, all for the same price. DONT GO. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. read more

We are extremely happy with the Oriole Golf Course. They have just completed revamping their greens! The reason for our 5 star rating is not because it is prestige but more importantly for their professional staff and their amazing ability to keep us coming back. They are excellent at what they do because they truly care about their people and guests. Jack the owner goes above and beyond when it comes to getting kids involved with golf. They have an excellent golf camp every summer and they do things for the kids all year long to keep them interested in golf. They are a big part of the PGA team golf and their lessons are affordable and beyond great! We are loyal to them because they are loyal to us. I love being treated like family when we go there. Their food is not only reasonable it's pretty darn good. How about the involvement in their community? They really do care! read more

Could be an awesome course. Pros ... Good clubhouse staff, very friendly and is good about remember who you are and whats going on in life. Good rates. Times easily available. Cons... - No marshal (which because of economy now most courses cant afford one anyway) - Course grounds keepers have NO respect for golfers: one guy whistles & sings like he is in the shower and its his own personal opera house not to mention he picks up players golf balls (wow I found a golf ball on a golf course it must not belong to anyone), every now and then see trucks & work vehicles driving on golf course, another one that changes the tees likes to put tee off line on slopes thinks this is a putt putt course or something, most of the greens staff just likes to drive carts full speed not a care in the world about the golfers playing. - Not sure why one course cross town can have perfect clean greens and this one can be completely opposite, this summer has been bad. Same with bunkers some courses have great sand but this one it seems like they try real hard to keep up but once some rain comes around they give up. Overall give this course 8 out of 10 the crew that works on the course is the reason for not being 10 out 10. Very challenging course. read more

Every time I play here I enjoy a stress free round followed by a nice meal alongside great service. This place for me is exactly what anyone could want from a golf course; cheap to play, nice course that is easy but not too easy, nice employees especially the owner and the bartender Jen, and pretty good food like the burgers and the french fries. Cant wait to play it again once the new greens grow in and the little changes to the course are finished. read more
