Boca Rio Golf Club is exclusively for members and if they want to book parties etc. This place is very proper and very old Boca glamour. They had arranged a gorgeous room with beautiful flowers everywhere. For cocktail hour the servers were providing top notch service. As soon as I was done eating or drinking they took the plate or drink from me. And of course I went a few times to try all the appetizers. The shrimp cocktail, tuna tataki, smoked salmon, veggie dumplings, etc were all amazing. For the dinner segment, they had set up portable chef stations outside. This gave everyone the opportunity to look outside to the pristine golf course and enjoy the view. They had steak stations, seafood, Asian cuisine etc. I was stuffed from cocktail hour however I tried a few items. The only thing lacking at dinner time was the fact many of the dishes were very low on seasoning and a bit bland. Overall, the food was excellent but I needed a bit more salt/seasoning. My favorite dinner component was the endless arrangement of different kinds of salads. There is nothing like fresh greens. For dessert: I was thrilled they set up bite size portion desserts. I highly recommend making a reservation coming during the day versus night because the price point is drastically different by day and time. Stephen is my 3rd golf instructor who I happened to come across via a google search during a quick…read morevisit to Ft. Lauderdale. This is my 2nd year of golfing & within a 1hr lesson he has transformed my game! He watched a few of my hits & knew right away what my swing issues were. I'm still in shock at the distance I'm getting with my driver (my most challenging club) & with my clubs in general. It's still taking some practice to ingrain my new move of rotating my hips to the right with my back swing (including lifting my left foot to get that movement since I don't have the flexibility yet) along with slowing down my swing so that I'm on the proper swing plane. End result is I'm more consistent with hitting the sweet spot & my ball is flying yards further rather then the former mis-hits which included hitting the ground behind the ball & losing lots of power. My last couple of rounds were so much more fun as a result of at least getting distance with my driver & clubs in general. Each euphoric hit ended with a "thank you Stephen!" It's due to my lesson with him that I've truly seen my game transformed. I wish he was closer to California but will gladly fly back to have future lessons &/or do remote/video lessons.

There are numerous tee boxes that have little or no grass. Several tee boxes were move from areas that were terrible! The fairways are not too bad but once your ball gets into the rough, grass is dead or patchy at best. Some fairways are in awful condition. The greens are not bad but have areas you would expect at a poorly manicured public course. This is happening too often at this once beautiful layout. Not worth the cost of green fees.
