One of the most beautiful libraries I've ever been to. This space has such a warm, modern vibe and decor. From the fireplace on the second floor to the outdoor fountain, this is a thoughtfully designed library that can cater to a wide variety of visitors. Now that I am retired,, I have more time to really see what the library offers. Not only a great selection of books, but the classes are so fun. I love the free give-away things to make and spices to cook with. The front desk people are very helpful with any questions I may have. I absolutely love the donation day things, to both clear my drawers, cabinets and craft areas of unneeded items and see if I want any new ones from others. I have found so many gems there. My thanks to the people who set that up. And the computer lab is also wonderful. So glad to be visiting there often, including the free borrowing of puzzles in the front area. read more

Nice weather, hot but nice breezes! Plenty of self parking. Events seem well organized, fun! I went for a concert for a Santana tribute band, Soul Sacrifice. Good music! I also went for a drop off event to benefit servicemen and women. This was also well organized, helpful signage and staff. This is an excellent public library. You walk into a beautiful, huge sunny building and the folks at the main desk are friendly and helpful. Head upstairs and they have, as you'd expect, a lot of books. They also have many magazines and newspapers for reading on-site, plenty of seating throughout, and a really convenient self check-out process. They don't have fees for most overdue books! There's a computer lab where they have classes in various basic and intermediate software stuff (MS 365, etc.) I love visiting this library! read more

Because I travel for work, I often need a quiet place to take a meeting or get something productive done. I tried Starbucks and Paneras for awhile, but they aren't actually quiet and ended up costing a bit of money. I started exploring libraries as an option and have been quite pleased. The Orland Park library now ranks among my favorite. They had lots of different seating options, including some that were quieter and others that were better for participating in virtual meetings. The WiFi was strong. The bathrooms were clean. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I've made a note that this a good option to come back to in the area because it was such a warm, positive experience. I love my own local library fiercely and found this comparable in terms of comfort and resources. read more

This is one of the better libraries around the southwest side of Chicago. Two floors and absolutely tons of offerings. The children's section is located on the first floor - conveniently separated from the teenage and adult sections on the second floor. This keeps kids (books and computers and reading groups) separate from everyone else - nice idea. The second floor has everyone else - computers and CD and DVDs and the entire reference section. The reference section is nice and expansive ... the magazine section (including those available electronically via Zinio) is large ... public programming is very broad for this library. They will teach you everything from how to use Microsoft Word to how to navigate the social web sites such as Facebook. Nice area. All in all, this is a wonderful asset for Orland Park - especially for residents, but also available for non-residents. Try it and you'll like it. read more

Amazing library with amazing and very helpful staff. I'm actually a Chicago resident but I spend time in Orland Hills 3-4 days out of the week. I started studying for the MCAT and was looking for a quiet but comfortable study space. Decided to try this library out and it's perfect! It's not as busy at the Tinley Park library and has lots more space for quiet study time. There's a larger quiet study room with the whole "no phones no food" deal and smaller private rooms available for booking, but the cubicles along the windows of the 2nd floor are just as good. read more

What a gorgeous library! The children's section is spacious and is designed to be kid-friendly. It is located on the first floor in the far back area of the building. There are countless puzzles and many books stored in baskets on shelves. Next to the large picture window there is a Lego table and little cushy chairs for children to sit on. There are mini tables for the little ones to work at and a computer area for the bigger kids. The staff is so friendly and really want your experience to be nothing but spectacular! The best public library that I've been to in the US. They offer so many free computer classes and events that you could fill your calendar. There is a huge DVD section, including foreign films and many of the classic TV shows, even from the UK (e.g. Are You Being Served). The staff is so friendly and helpful, especially with inter-library loans and IT issues. You can tell they love their jobs. The children's section is huge and my great nephew loves to visit it when he's in Orland. There is a teen section and then an adult section. They have free concerts in the summer, rotating art exhibits, movie night, and a book club. One of my favorite perks are their "date night" or "family night" tote, which include 3 movies of the same genre, 2 packages of microwavable popcorn, chocolate and Starburts or Skittles. read more

This is a good library. Great kids section. The adult section is fine also. If you are here to study I would suggest sitting in the quiet room(which is always freezing) because the librarians are loud when helping patrons and they always seem to be rearranging books every three weeks. I mean come on, how many times to you have to move around the same books. Why don't they do that when the library is closed? Then you have the teenagers that get out of school and choose the library to socialize. I'm telling you libraries are not how they used to be=for quiet study or reading. Also Thursday evening book clubs are annoying. They sit by the fireplace and talk so loud!!! I don't get why they don't use the rooms downstairs. Even the librarians don't treat this a library so who is to blame? Honestly we pay taxes for libraries and they can't even give us some a place for peace and quiet!! read more

Best library for kids I've found in all the states I've been too! More kid books than I can believe- Even board books and it's organized and easy to find the books which I can tell you from experience is not common for the board books. They have story times, kid activity dates, decorations and the librarians are so kind. There's a play area with puzzles, iPads, toys and they even did Halloween trick of treating. read more

Great job Orland this library is very nice. Spread out over 2 floors and designed just right. The place is huge. Easy to get around and find what you need. Staff is very helpful. Plenty of natural light coming in makes it very comfortable for just kicking back and reading or using the computer. Many different programs going on to help everyone. Good stuff. read more

It's a great library! From the thousands of books to the great employees, it is just a wonderful place to study when you can't seem to get it done at home. There are two floors of books. The children's section on the first floor has so many books, it's unreal. They have so many programs for kids and adults too which is wonderful. The children's section and the adult section are split by the two floors. Nice having it separated as it could get a little noisy with the little ones while trying to study. There is free wifi on the second level so if you need to be working on something for school or a project for work, there is internet. The DVD's, magazines and the reference section on the top floor is expansive. You can learn how to use the internet and the social media sites in the computer labs. Glad my tax dollars that I pay on my real estate bill are going to good use...it's a wonderful library! read more

I was looking for somewhere to study and I'm so glad I decided to come here. The library is located in a quiet area. When you pull into the library aside from the parking lot there is a drop off area which is convenient if you have kids or if you take an Uber there. As we walked in we were greeted and guided to the study rooms. Let me tell you this library is top notch! The layout is made easy enough to find where you are going. I noticed they had all sorts of little stations announcing different events taking place. They also have help desks throughout the library to help you. It's very well organized and at every desk there was someone to help you. We got a study room and waited about 30 minutes for the next available one. What I most liked about the study was that they didn't have a time limit. I want to say we spent about 2 hours using the room. They also give you a little set of markers to use on the dry erase board which is cool. Throughout the library you will find desks near the windows which I think is nice having a scenery. I'm definitely coming back to study here! read more

Beautiful building, great children's center. The only problem is, your children are not safe here--don't let them go alone! Keep them away from the upstairs adult computer section. There is open porn, anything goes upstairs if you walk by the computers you and your children may accidentally see something they can never "unsee". It's appalling. It has happened several times that I know of and probably lots more that we don't. In addition, people have been accosted by perverts here. Until they change the policy and install a no-porn policy, I wouldn't return. read more

As a college student, this is the only place i can go where i am able to concentrate & get work done. During exams or finals, i can be here all day, from 10-9 just studying. I've been coming here for almost 4 years and never had a serious problem. Parking is okay, the library is clean, the librarians are extremely nice and helpful. Cons- i had a new worker start yelling at me rudely because i had a cracker wrapper on my table and she just snatched it to throw it away. I told her i can throw away my own trash and she just walked away with it. The workers also can be loud while having conversations with each other, and at a library, i feel the noise should be minimal. Some of the people who come here can be loud, even while walking into the quiet study rooms. Eh, that's all tolerable i guess, maybe the workers here are just not as happy with their jobs so they take it out on guests, who knows. Plus, the wifi/internet here can be SO slow or not work at all, eh. read more
