My partner and I just got back from a staycation at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, and once again it…read morereminded me why this is one of my favorite hotels in Orlando. I've stayed here several times over the last 15 years, and it never disappoints. As one of Universal Orlando's original three Premier Resorts, it has everything you could want. The rooms are huge, the beds are hands down the most comfortable in all of the Universal hotels, the sheets are unbelievably soft, and there are plenty of great restaurants on property. The value is incredible too. Your room key doubles as an Express Pass at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, and if you've ever priced those passes, you know they can easily cost over $200 per person, per day. That alone makes staying here worth considering. We kicked off our trip with drinks at the Thirsty Fish. Check out my separate review because it was fantastic. We also had dinner at Mama Della's, which deserves its own review as well. This trip was all about the resort. We talked about going to CityWalk and maybe even hitting the parks, but we were having such a great time that we never left the hotel. Since it was just the two of us, it turned into the perfect relaxing getaway. Most people head to the Beach Pool with the slide, but we spent our time at the Villa Pool, and it was exactly what we were looking for. It reminded me of the pool at the Ritz-Carlton. Palm trees everywhere, a huge pool, tons of lounge chairs, and a much quieter atmosphere. It's only a short walk from the Beach Pool, and I was happy to find out it has the same full food and drink service. I ordered a tequila berry spritzer...or at least I think that's what it was called. I'll post a picture because I can't remember the exact name, but it was so good that by our second day it seemed like everyone around the pool was ordering one. Our second night, a big thunderstorm rolled in. We had reservations at CityWalk but canceled them, grabbed pizza and a Caesar salad from Sal's Market (see that review too), and had dinner in our room. Honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip. Good food, a little TV, some quality time together, and no reason to be anywhere else. We were only there for three days, but it felt like a true vacation. Whether you're coming to Orlando for the parks or just looking for an amazing staycation, Loews Portofino Bay is hard to beat. Was this review a little long? Probably. Do I care? Not even a little. We had an amazing time, and I think you will too.

Lovely and peaceful resort setting with beautiful grounds within walking distance to Universal…read moreStudios, City Walk, and Islands ...bonus inclusion of express passes for the parks. We enjoyed the resort, yet I felt that the standards should've been a bit higher for cleanliness for the price of rooms. The room was fairly average and a decent size, but it seemed to be cleaned in what I call a "surface clean" instead of a deeper clean. At a glance everything was tidy and accounted for, but I noticed a handful of things that needed to be addressed: one bedskirt had many large white stains easily visible, the bathroom doors had quite a few dirty hand/fingers prints, the shower floor felt somewhat slimy under my feet with some clear mildew, and while the bathroom floor was mopped/vacuumed, the edges of the bathroom weren't tended to so some buildup was visible. And while I'm sure it's a hard thing to address, we did see a few large cockroaches around and while getting into an elevator at ground level. These sorts of things that fall outside of a basic room cleaning should at a minimum be addressed regularly if not at each room processing. For me, they definitely take away from my impression of a hotel/resort, especially one marketed as deluxe or luxury. As for the beds, I'd actually chosen this hotel for reviews that stated the mattresses were plush, however while I'll admit they weren't extremely firm, they definitely didn't feel plush. The food at the restaurants was consistently good...we enjoyed a few meals at Trattoria and a takeaway pizza at the Deli...appreciated they had gluten free crust as well as snacks available. Again, beautiful resort, pools, grounds, and great access to entertainment...they just need to up their game in housekeeping.

This is a serious warning to anyone considering Bluegreen Vacations. Save yourselves and stay…read moreaway. My experience has been a complete nightmare, and I urge you to stay away from Bluegreen. The financial details were intentionally misleading. During recent upgrade, a sales rep aggressively pressured me into consolidating deeds, misrepresenting the true costs. My mortgage, which started at over $700/month, has only increased. On top of that, I was shocked to find maintenance fees of over $4,000 annually, which they failed to disclose, and it began immediately. As a widow, these hidden burdens are a tremendous financial strain, especially when I needed those funds to support my daughter during her difficult pregnancy. This was a useless expense with no value for a timeshare I can barely even use. The 'perks' are effectively non-existent. Trying to claim them was a full-time job involving hour-long hold times, only to be told it's the wrong time or that I needed to jump through more hoops. Nobody there was helpful. While one property (Big Cedar) was decent, others were rundown, filthy, and far from the 'resort' quality promised. They consistently push you to buy more points for 'better availability, ' which is a lie--it's impossible to access. The worst part is the toxic, demeaning sales culture. During an owner update, a hostile sales rep insulted me, calling me a 'fool' for not buying more. Because Bluegreen merged with Hilton, I was made to feel inadequate for not purchasing more Hilton products. His aggression when I tried to walk away was appalling. Now that I've tried to exit, they are making it incredibly difficult and prolonging the process indefinitely. Do yourself a favor and do not walk into this trap.

1-Star Review - Misrepresentation and Deceptive Sales Practices…read more On April 1, 2025, I was conducting unrelated business with Choice Hotels when, at the conclusion of the call, I was offered a "free vacation opportunity" through Bluegreen Vacations. I was transferred to Bluegreen's phone sales team. I was offered a vacation package for $279, with the promise that in exchange for attending a no-obligation timeshare presentation, I would receive a $275 MasterCard Reward Card plus a $25 MasterCard Reward Card (totaling $300). During the call, I clearly asked whether my spouse was required to attend. I was told yes, and because my spouse will not attend due to prior negative experiences with timeshare presentations, I initially declined the offer. At that point, the sales representative suggested that I could attend alone and simply claim an "emergency" (such as illness) for my spouse. I refused to lie and reiterated that I would only purchase the package if it were legitimate for me alone to attend. I was escalated to a sales manager, who repeated the same workaround but then assured me--without requiring any false excuses--that he would note an exception allowing only me to attend. Based on this assurance, I purchased the package. Within a day, I received Bluegreen's vacation conditions via a DocuSign-style form. The document contained no exception, and there was no way to edit or add terms. Assuming the form was generic, I immediately followed up via Bluegreen's web contact form (since no direct email address is provided), clearly outlining the agreement made with their sales supervisor. I requested written rejection if not accepted so the trip could be canceled and refunded if the terms were not accepted. I never received a response and considered it accepted. In June, I received an email confirming the vacation stay and presentation date. I then called the facility directly to verify--again--that only I would be required to attend. My file was reviewed, and no exception or sales notes existed. I was also told there was no record of my web-form email. At this point: A refund was no longer available The credit card charge was too old to dispute I was told I could only reschedule if both my spouse and I attend In short, Bluegreen's phone sales team misrepresented the terms, failed to document the promised exception, and later denied that any such agreement existed. I was misled into believing everything was properly arranged in order to close the sale. Bluegreen does present to single individuals, but if you are married or living with a partner, both must attend--regardless of what sales representatives tell you on the phone. Any "exceptions" verbally promised appear to be meaningless. This experience shows a pattern of saying whatever is necessary to sell the package, then hiding behind rigid policies and "missing records" afterward. The company showed no accountability and appeared unapologetic about the outcome. I strongly caution others: get everything in writing before paying--and even then, be prepared for Bluegreen to deny it later.

I demanded we move into another house or would expect an immediate refund so we could find another place that night. Pest control came at 6:00pm that night. They moved us into another house, same neighborhood that night. 2nd day there had a cockroach in my daughters room. Went 7 days with intense itching and swelling to the reaction of the bites. On 11/9/19 left to come home and asked for reimbursement of sorts for the inconvience and nuisance of all the bites. Got reimbursed for one night. On 11/10/19 my reactions to the bites were worse, with more showing up that I had to go see a dr who prescribed me 4 medications to take care of my pain and itching. I sent an email after my appt and nothing was said or done. Don't think this will be an option in the future for all the pain and suffering. I'd show pictures if I could! It's awful!!

It was definitely worth it! The house was fully equipped! I'll go ahead and begin my review Bedrooms (3) : Spacious and Clean comfortable enough to fit up to 6-8 people in the bedrooms depending on whether or not you mind sharing beds with people. But none the less the beds were cozy and big! Kitchen & Living room were conveniently attached fully equipped with stove, oven microwave and with a dining table fitting up to 6-7 people comfortably. It was attached to the living room which had a fire place and a variety of entertainment medias for your use. It was soo cute! Although it wasn't cold enough to use the fire place, it made me feel like I was in north carolina or in the woods somewhere. Made my trip seem more authentic and far away! Upstairs: Best part was the game room upstairs! Fully equipped with a pool table and the other table game thing, i can't remember what it was called lol. The only bad part is that there's no room to sleep upstairs, it's more of a game area. But i still loved it. Kept us thoroughly entertained most of the evening! Okay I lied, the best part of the house was definitely the patio that led out to the lake! GORGEOUS for watcing the sun rise and the sun set! There was a dock that led up to the lake which you can involve yourself in doing a variety of sports such as swimming, jet skiing and boat rowing! Although we didn't have time to do any of that stuff it was still nice to have it there available! I must say, it was out in the middle of no where, but that's the beauty of it, away from the cars, away from the noise, away from the city. It was serene and peaceful. This lake house is something you must look into if you're thinking about getting away. Look into it some more, don't just take my word for it! But definitely, we're coming back here again soon for future gatherings and get-aways.

We decided on a vacation home instead of a hotel because we wanted to have the extra room and the home away from home feeling. We were happy we did. The house was very close to the attractions and upon arrival we were gladly surprised at how comfortable the accommodations were. The house was very well kept and clean. The bathrooms were very clean and the toilets even had a seat band to show it was sanitized. The towels were folded in a decorative way making it look very nice and elegant, definitely a nice touch. The bedrooms were all of a good size and the kids bedrooms were nicely decorated with Disney characters which the kids appreciated. A good amount of attention to detail was put into the house to make it appealing and to make the guests feel more comfortable. The kids loved playing in the pool when we got to the house after visiting the attractions. There was also a charcoal BBQ grill that we used a couple of times (a plus for me since I love grilling). We had a great vacation overall and we loved staying at this house. We would definitely recommend Pleasant Stays homes and would use them again to find our next vacation rental.
