We hired A&H Tree Service based on a neighbor's referral to remove a few branches from a large tree…read morein our yard. They did remove the branches--and maybe one more than expected--but overall, the work itself was fine, and they cleaned up the debris. That said, the customer experience left a lot to be desired. Communication was lacking throughout, except when they repeatedly followed up for the deposit. They didn't tell us in advance that our driveway and front street needed to be clear for their truck, so my partner had to rush home from work to move the car. After the job, no photos were shared, and when I asked about the price and 3% credit card fee, they pointed to the contract. Fair enough--but it would've been helpful if they had mentioned that upfront. I offered to send cash or a check to avoid the surcharge, but they said credit card is now the only accepted method. Between the lack of communication and inflexibility, I wouldn't recommend them based on customer service alone. Hopefully the residue left on our vinyl fence comes off with a hose.

Unless you want racoons, squirrels or worse in your house with you.​ The trees next to my house were touching and way too high up and near the power line to my house to cut myself, plus I had a huge tree in my backyard that was concerning me. So I called in professionals. I was all set to get multiple quotes and called in two companies, Fremgen Bros and another Monday. Fremgen Bros said they could come that night after I got home from work, the other would come Tuesday. I booked them both. When Michael and his brother showed up Monday I was very impressed by both their politeness, their down to Earth demeanour​ and most of all their honesty. Plus, they are a local company. I showed them the trees that needed trimming and the big tree that I thought might cost me thousands to remove. They checked out the trimming duties up front and headed to the backyard. They looked over the tree and explained what would be a problem and what they are looking for as a sign of a problem. Seepage. They did find seepage and showed me a few things that could be a concern in the future, but told me this is normal and the tree is healthy and safe. I was so happy to hear that, but what really impressed me is they could have told me a lot of things that would have had me open my wallet wide and beg them to take, instead they were HONEST. They quoted me a very reasonable price for the work I needed to be done​, I instantly accepted and asked when could they begin. Thursday was the day and here it is Thursday and they did the work. I could not be happier or recommend them more highly. I know. that this is the tree company I will use again and again if needed and I will recommend them to anyone who wants to hear it. When I got his estimate it was for over $7000! I read it twice thinking it was a decimal error. When I told him that was ridiculous a day later he suddenly found a 10 percent discount which he never offered before which made the entire operation even more sketchy. I immediatley cancelled my contract and my landscaper will do all that is needed for under $500. At the very least get several estimates before dealing with these people. I talked to several companies before choosing Almstead. They were impressive from start to finish and had competitive pricing. Their arborist, ISA certified in tree risk assessment, gave me strategies and probabilities around possible care for the tree, but also an honest appraisal of the situation. Due to its location, I took it down. They are a team of true professionals - knowledgeable, skilled, and responsible. I have never seen a tree company operate like they did. Everything was totally under control which, considering the location, was a major relief. This is a difficult and dangerous job, but they handled it like clockwork, as if it were nothing. The guy that did the final cleanup, removing the last of a tremendous amount of wood was also amazing. I watched as he became plastered with wood chips, working in the cold and, at times, heavy rain to make sure everything was cleaned up, refusing to take a break, saying it had to be finished on schedule, and asking for approval at the end. Almstead was accommodating in every way possible, including moving quickly, which was a concern to me. The entire process could not have gone more smoothly. They were honest, pleasant, and did what they said when they said. They supplied all necessary insurance and license info well in advance. No problems or delays. The workers were professional and cleaned up well after the job. Safa, who works in the office is exceptional. Always very pleasant and personable. She always follows through and returns calls.
