When one calls an ambulance, it usually takes you to the nearest ER. Unfortunately for my sister,…read moreshe lived closest to NWMed. She had strained her shoulder and back reaching overhead. They admitted her to the ER, then placed her in their Oncology dept. because she was six years post cancer diagnosis with no new cancer. Ten days later, she died from pneumonia and "malnutrition ". Do not take your loved one to this facility. The nurses were good. The attending MD's had zero bedside manner. I was told we had three days to move my sister to hospice or they would remove her!And after two days, while we frantically called every hospice facility on the hospital's recommended list,Dr. Fortuna and their hospice coordinator, Noreen, became rude, borderline aggressive, w/lharassing me about moving to hospice. The last week of my sister's life had little dignity. It was unnecessarily stressful.A minor observation: their bed linens were ripped and disgusting. And no one should encourage a dying woman to get some rest while leaving a bright fluorescent light on her face!

The bad news is that they discharged me with dizziness and didn't bother to perform the Epley maneuver - a 2 1/2 minute procedure that would have resolved my vertigo. "You're discharged." "Oh. The bloodwork must have come out ok?" "I'm not gonna blow smoke up your ass. I haven't looked at it." Upon the recommendation of Gemini, I watched a YouTube video when I got home and did it myself. The third time it worked. Additional bills continue to drift in, and the indignity festers. Now the accumulated total is approaching $1,000 and counting. Late-stage capitalism at its finest.

Met with Dr Outzs who is family practice & a sports Dr. Checking in was Easy, the staff were very friendly & engaging. I waited less than 5 min. Triage: weight, stats about your health & why are you here today. Dr Outzs was very nice. Q&A was friendly & information was great. He listened to everything I said intently & offered guidance. Finding a GP I'm comfortable with is important. So glad I found one of the good ones. If looking for a good Dr with a caring heart, he's my recommendation.

She saw in what kind of state I was but took 1/2 to have me sign 10 pages of paper and make sure she gets my payment! Since I hadn't met my deductible, I had to pay $500 just because they took my blood pressure and prescribed something that didn't help! I had a back/leg pain that I was literary bent and they couldn't give me the right care! Didn't take any MRI or x-rays. The first night they gave me a medicated pad (salonpa)and I asked for a 2nd one, they said "you can buy it from the pharmacy)"! Mind you they meant the CVS or Walgreens at 10pm. What a shame to have medical professionals who don't like their job and don't care for people. I hope none of you ever need to go to the ER. I place St. Joseph and Banner way above them, though that was 12 years ago and maybe that has changed too

So I've been at Sonora twice, once for 10 days, and once for 12, both times in their level 1 Sabino…read moreunit. The staff have been helpful, listened to my problems, giving me things to write with, etc... The docs only work weekdays, aside from on-call, so if you aren't quite ready to be released on Friday you /will/ wait for Monday even if you are stable enough on Saturday. That can be a bit upsetting. The main problems with Sonora, and there are two, are as follows: 1. The food is terrible. If I nearly exit your facility with an eating disorder as a result of your food in less than two weeks, you've got a serious problem. I get that dietary choices for a large population are limited and we're trying to cut costs, but Sierra Tucson can handle this no problem (granted they have a much large budget). 2. They don't really have on-call therapists, and techs are left to do their job when they have time and aren't doing their other responsibilities, which is rarely. Most of the therapy you'll get is from talking to the other folks in the ward and swapping stories. This does work, but probably takes longer than it would with a trained therapist. Also, these are random people with their own issues, so your mileage may vary. I guess it comes down to this... would I go here again if I were in danger? Absolutely. Would I be pretty worried about #1 above... yeah. Basically you have to live off the snacks in between meals. Overall though, they're a great safe space, and Doctor Wilson is fantastic as a psychiatrist.

Instead there was no one to talk to at all. I tried to leave the next day I called my husband to have him come pick me up and they threatened to have him arrested. For 3 days the only thing that was done was standing in line three times a day to get the worst food I've ever had in my life. Sleep sleep that's about all you can do unless you want to color in a coloring book. That's it. Grown adults coloring with crayons. That's your therapy. P e r i o d. The staff is rude and short. Worst place I've ever been in my life, the worst experience I've ever had. A waste of my time and my money. 475 a day for that. And then my discharge papers were already typed out with questions and answers already answered and not by me and they rushed my signature. Don't waste your time here this place should be reported to the authorities! And it felt like jail. This place is just for homeless people that need a bed and some terrible food. I checked in voluntarily I should have been able to leave the next day. I was jailed for 3 days here. Don't do it to yourself you'll be sorry. I'm reporting this place to every authority I can think of.
