This park is awesome! It's big, beautiful, clean and well maintained. There are plenty of plants all around everywhere and providing shade for the playground. There are big meadows, basketball court, tennis court, bike trails, big picnic areas, and a fountain water play area for kids etc. It's truly a perfect place for kids to play and for families to enjoy. read more

This is one of my go-to parks when I have a doggie with me. :) There are plenty of grass areas plus a big field where people play sports. There's a huge gazebo in the center to provide shade along with trees scattered. I've never been in their restrooms so no idea if they're clean or not. Years ago we came here for a school field trip where the kids got to play in the water area, which is perfect for a hot summer day. There's also swings and play equipment. There's also grills and picnic tables for people to enjoy a lunch outdoors. They have a decent size parking lot and plenty of street parking as well. read more

We checked this park out since it is dog-friendly, and our Zoey loves going to new places. It is located adjacent to a school and had playing fields, restrooms, walking trails, and picnic tables throughout the place. It is not super big, yet good-sized for a neighborhood park, and it is situated in a nice area. There is a parking lot and available parking on the street. The only thing I think they lacked are bags for dog owners and a dog's drinking fountain. We are not likely to return, but if you live nearby, it is a fine place to go for a short walk, with or without a dog, or perhaps a picnic. read more

Ortega Park Review Ortega Park's kind of a hidden gem in Sunnyvale. First impression? Super chill. It's got a laid-back vibe but still feels really intentional--like it was designed for both families and people just looking to get a little peace outside. I've been a few times now, and it's consistently clean, which I appreciate. Big plus if you're someone who notices the little things, like trash-free picnic areas and well-kept paths. One of the safest park. I've been here at 5:30AM and there's already a group of elderly doing Thai chi around the gazebo. On Sundays there's cricket games The playground setup is solid--separate spots for little kids and older ones, so no chaotic overlap. There's a splash pad too, which goes crazy in the summer. You'll catch families posted up there all afternoon, and honestly, it's the kind of thing that brings good energy to the whole space. They've got basketball and tennis courts, plus a few unique touches like a cricket pitch and horseshoe area. Super random but cool. I usually post up near the shaded picnic tables--really peaceful spot to read, journal, or just kick back. It's also a great spot to link with friends, especially if you're into low-key hangs. Only thing I'd flag is the restrooms. Hit or miss depending on the day--wish the city would tighten up on that a bit more. But aside from that, it's one of the better parks in the South Bay. You can tell the community uses and respects it, which makes it feel safe and welcoming. If you're in the area or just need a reset outdoors, Ortega's worth checking out. What a gorgeous park this was. We cam here few weeks ago for a birthday party. The pergola is fantastic place to host a party since it's shaded and has do much space to bring your own tables and chairs and set up the party . Plenty of other areas throughout the park with community tables to set up parties. Few playgrounds notes, a wall climbing structure and a very cool splash pad for those hot days :) so much green space. Absolutely loved it and would love to visit again when visiting this side :) read more

I live 2 minutes away from this park. I come here every noon and nighttime for a little jog. This place is overall decent. The park is massive with fields and playgrounds, which are perfect for kids. Personally, the Basketball court that we are sharing with a school is my favorite. The only downside is that the park does not have enough light source. You come here like night like me, BRING A FLASHLIGHT. read more

Sometimes it seems really lame to review parks, but I'm obsessed with this one. Because of the pandemic, I was meeting a friend outdoors, and she suggested Ortega Park. It's massive!! I parked in one of the lots and walked around until I found a bench in the shade. Everything is so lush and brightly colored, despite California being a constant state of drought. Great spot for families to hang out, with all the play structures for kids of various ages and grassy expanses for dogs to run around. There seems to be the occasional live music event on under the gazebo, or some team sports game going on. Whether you're meeting up with someone or want some peaceful alone time, Ortega Park feels safe and won't disappoint. read more

Brought my daughter here today, and can honestly say this is one of the nicer parks I've been to in the South Bay. It's not extremely large, but it's not small either. It's very well maintained and feels very safe which is very important when you have kids. While there are plenty of parks in San Jose, there was something about this one that made the drive here worth it. A perfect place for families to spend an afternoon together and for the kids to have a blast. One of the best parks around. read more

The people are friendly, there is a water area, plus a fenced in toddler area ( if you know anything about me I have twin boys who are now 18 months old so any place that can keep them contained is a huge bonus!). Love this park, been coming here for a while. Today, I had a terrible experience. It sickens me that we still racist bigots like this in 2024. I (small Asian female, was alone with my dog at the time) was approached by this older White man around noon, and he started yelling at me in a fake-sounding Asian language and he threatened to report me to the police if he ever saw me at this park again. He pulled his phone out and everything as if to signal that he was calling the police. Then he started following me and harassing me, so I started yelling back. When he realized there was another guy (also POC as he was brown) with a dog on the other side of the fence, he became quiet and had his head down. I kept walking away from him, but I found this guy walking nearby three times. I eventually moved to where there were a lot of people. POC's beware, especially if you are alone without a witness. I think this guy has anger issues and is looking to take it out on what he thinks is an easy target. read more

I attended a birthday party at Ortega Park this weekend. The hosts were able to reserve the picnic area which included a BBQ pit, prep area w/sink, and tables w/benches. Ortega Park was nestled deep in a residential area in Sunnyvale. Most of the park and facilities looked brand-spanking new. There were plenty of wide-open grassy areas, great playground structures, and a fun water play area. The only thing that looked like it needed an upgrade were the restrooms. It's a specious park with lots of facilities for all ages. There's two playgrounds and some swings. My favorite is the climbing wall. There's also a picnic area and places for barbeque. I like that it's located near an elementary school so kids can come straight from school. read more

Nice, well-kept park. It looks like a lot of mommy groups meet here during the day (saw 3 groups during my first visit). There are plenty of grassy areas to lay down a blanket and enjoy the outdoors. There's also a fun children's play area, rock climbing area, and mini "water park." There is also a fenced in tennis court, a fenced in basketball court, and a large gazebo that is somewhat central to the whole park. Ortega park in Sunnyvale is a large and diverse space suitable for multiple occasions: kids play, sports activities, celebrations, friends gatherings and such. There is plenty of open space, lots of shade, landscaped trees and spacious grassy area, and multiple picnic areas equipped with picnic tables, benches, and fire pits, distributed throughout the park, so your reserved space is quite private. We had a friend's little one's birthday party here, at the central pavilion. It offers huge covered round arena, all of it for your group, very secluded, right in the middle. It's cooler inside the pavilion, and so was a huge advantage on a hot Saturday afternoon. There was an entertainer to keep the kids busy and engaged, Sean's music factory. Sean is a musician and a music teacher for preschoolers. He has a soft and mellow demeanor perhaps best fitted for one-on-one instruction, like individual music lessons for kids. There just wasn't enough energy to interest all kids in participating in sing along. The rest of the parkland has basketball & tennis courts, situated towards one end of the park, and a kids playground towards the other end, with the usual equipment, like swings and play structures. What makes it more unique are the splash fountains, where excited children can run around to cool down and enjoy the running water on a hot day. Among other attractions there's a rock climbing structure nearby. We saw what appeared to be a yoga class taking place in the distance, folks performing various poses and moves during their session, which lasted unusually long, well over a couple of hours. Parking lot is not that big, but there is parking on the street, so I don't think it's an issue. There is also a community center type structure with bathrooms near the parking lot. Ortega park is very well planned and a great option if you're considering an open air gathering. read more

A month or so ago I decided I would take my son to each and every park here in Sunnyvale as part of our "Sunnyvale Park Adventures"....So far I have found some gems and Ortega is one of those gems!! First off! Its HUUUUUGE!! There's tons of seating for both reserve and non-reserve tables (although the big bbq grills seem to be only for reserves. fret not! they still have the small que's for the non-reserves). I highly doubt there would be a day you couldnt find an available table to sit at but just in case, there is an abundant amount of grassy area to set out a fabulous picnic. (Since finding this place 2 weeks ago, we've already visited it 4 times, one of those times on a super busy sunday where there was still a plethora of tables and grass area available) Anyhow, there are two seperate park structures... one is gated and scaled down for little ones while the other is designed for the older children. Also the swings have their own area idk why, .... would think for such a huge park they would have a few more swings but as it is, my son is so busy with all the other structures we still have not gone on the swings. There's a very cool rock climbing structure....not an itty bitty one but a good sized one for kids to climb up and down and up and down and up and down and hopefully up again and down again. (what a great way to burn their energy! makes for good naps i bet!) The water fountain feature there is a good size and pretty to boot! My son looooved this discovery. The water spouts from colorful poles, and shoots up from the ground and pours down from a huge flower fixture.... Easy "cooling off" fun for those warm/hot days. Theres lots of shade provided by nearby trees if you want to watch your child from there...but there's also brick "benches" that you can sit on to keep a closer eye on your son/daughter. And no - you wont get soaked... only a few parts get touched by the water, most of it stays nice and dry (unless one of the kids purposely splashes you!) Besides playground stuff, there is a huge gazebo, tennis courts and basketball courts. NICE PARK. Lots of grass, lots of trees, lots of seating. LOTS OF FUN! read more

Great park! Had my daughter's 4th birthday party here. There are some reservable picnic areas, but also some 1st come 1st serve. We just showed up early and claimed our tables. It worked out fine. There are good pinic tables with nice trees around them, a big open field for running and games, a rotunda where I have seen concerts, a large picnic area for huge events, though I've never seen an over the top huge event hosted there. Then there's a nice kid's play area with an awesome water feature that has a few effects that run continuously and some that are kid-controlled. Not only is it really fun for the kids, but something about the water play opens parents up to more social interaction. I have had parents talk to me here while that doesn't always happen at other parks. I guess the water melts some of the clique stranger anxiety stuff away. Although this place can get rather packed on sunny weekend afternoons, with all the picnic table in use, it is designed so that there is still a sense of relaxation and quiet places to be, even amidst all of parties. read more

So pleasant on a warm afternoon! We came on a weekday in the late afternoon and there were quite a few kids/parents in the kids play area and on the swings, there were a few people playing basketball, tennis, and soccer. The park is spacious and there are plenty of shady spots, sunny spots, picnic tables, park benches, and green grass to choose from. - - They allow drinking in designated picnic areas. - Kids on razer scooters seem to love the oversize Gazebo area, round and round and round they go... - Plenty of street parking along Inverness (the south-west side of the park) - One of the Kids play areas for the smaller kids has a fence around it, seems like a good idea. It also has a few picnic tables for mom & dad - Only thing missing for me is some sort of lake/pond etc. I'm a sucker for water. read more

I loveeee this park. It is my favorite spot to visit on Summer evenings be it on weekdays or weekends. I visited this park in 2013 and since then I am a regular here. It is a small park but it is filled with people. There is a small area for children to play, small fountain that goes on for sometime in the evenings and kids play there, some open area for people to sit. There is a lot of grass, where people lay out their sheets and enjoy the sun or cool breeze. There is a track, where some people run. A small field, where youth practice soccer. This park is filled with activities in the evening and a great location to visit to de-stress after a long day at work. It is surrounded by homes so the neighborhood is quiet. This park, if you are in the neighborhood or close by, is definitely a wonderful and fantastic park for all ages. The only negative things about this park for me, is that the toddler play area sand pit is not shaded (so full sun in AM) & the toilet paper in the park are those little elementary school square bits. HAHA! Things you can live with, so I won't take any stars away. This park is active and full of lots of cultures enjoying the space, so there are always folks around doing interesting activities. For a curious toddler this place has it all: rocks, dirt, sticks, tiny and big pine cones and lots and lots of nature things to find and explore. The winding path around the park with all the detours by the trees are just super great to explore. In the summer the water feature is really great !! lots of different levels of water for all ages to enjoy. The energy here is very friendly and the grounds are extremely well kept. It has its usual park debris, but you can tell that the folks working here really enjoy their jobs. Definitely worth visiting if you have kids, and great for kids who need to run and explore in nature without a lot of stress for mom. read more

As a child, my parents would always tell me to never play or run in the rain and to this day, I never listened. Ortega Park is a great place to run, play basketball, baseball, tennis, horseshoes (lol), and all the sorts. The place is well lit and running in the rain made it more enjoyable. The park has plenty of open spaces, neatly landscape trees, plenty of picnic tables and a playground for kids and adult (kids.) It's tucked within a neighborhood and sure is a safe place to go to day or night. read more

Came here for a kids party over the weekend and my kids had lots of fun here. The park is pretty nice. There's a basketball court, baseball field, plenty of grass ,A big gazebo, picnic area with barbecue pits, water play are that shoots up water. A nice little play area ,the two play grounds are pretty small and where pretty crowded on the weekend we where here to me these play grounds are for smaller kids and a little outdated but over all there still will ok.There is barrooms on both sides of the play ground. I didn't walk around a lot because I'm staying at the party with my kids but I will next time I come back to this park. read more

During the summer months the big draw at Ortega park is the water feature. It is regularly swarmed with kids cooling down on the rubberized surface and water spraying down. The play area is nicely maintained for children. The picnic areas are simply "OK". If reserving an area, be sure to check out the park first as not all areas have shade in the summer. One of my girlfriends asked me to go to Ortega park with her 3 year old. We planned a picnic and set a date. I did not know about the water fountains and was just amazed by them. The kid could push a button and the foutains shot water into the air. It was major fun and the kid's were having a ball!! I was a little jealous and wished i was a wee one again. The only real draw back was the school next door. When we went to leave the parking lot was grid locked by parents needing to pick up their children from school. The school was not letting out for ten minutes but the parents did not care. I had to get out of the car and direct traffic to get my girlfriend's car out...and the parents were rude as can be.
