I would like to start by saying that I…read moredidn't end up moving forward with my treatment due to medical reasons, but I believe that they deserve a 5 star review regardless. I set up my initial consultation with Jennifer. It was easy to make the appointment and they accommodated me to make it fit my schedule. When I went in, I sat down with Jennifer and she went over my paperwork with me and proceeded with taking x-rays and photos. All of which were included in my consultation, which was free by the way. She was very thorough, helpful and extremely pleasant to work with. After that, I saw Dr. Abraham. Super nice guy with a wonderful bedside manner. He looked at my photos, my x-rays and my medical history and then we discussed possible options. He was able to do a digital before and after treatment mock up for me which really helped me to visualize the expected outcome. After that, I sat down with Jennifer again, and we discussed the fee for my treatment and options for paying including very fair payment plans or a discount of several hundred dollars if paid in full. I believe for the monthly payments, they just took the cost of the treatment and divided it by X amount of months. No fees for paying monthly. They were not pushy whatsoever. My case is a little different because of my age and medical history. Dr. Abraham went above and beyond to research my case, and was not comfortable moving forward if I wasn't a good candidate . I believe he genuinely cared about what was in my best interest . Ultimately, I was not cleared by my doctor to start treatment, however if I was, I feel that I would be very satisfied and happy with the experience. Additionally, the office is very clean and bright and I've never had an issue with finding parking on 18th St. right by the office.

Imagine my surprise when they quoted me **$5,500** for *only the top Invisalign aligner*! Their own website says pricing *up to $6,000* -- which any reasonable person would assume covers both top and bottom aligners. When I questioned the quote, I got a canned, corporate-sounding response about my case being "complex" and "tailored to my specific needs." Complex? For moving *one tooth*? And who else's needs would they be tailored to? I pointed this out in writing, asking for clarification, and got essentially the same form letter again. The implication seemed to be: "We don't have to justify our pricing." Transparency clearly isn't a strong suit here. To make things worse, they in essence blew me off and sent me a list of "recommended orthodontists" for treatment, since they weren't interested in someone who questioned their rip-off pricing. One was in Culver City (fine), but the other was in the **Rampart area** -- miles from Santa Monica and better known as the gritty setting of *Training Day*. Hardly the kind of thoughtful referral you'd expect from a high-end Santa Monica practice. In short, the experience felt dismissive, overpriced, and arrogant. If you value straightforward communication and fair pricing, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. There are plenty of orthodontists who can move *one tooth* without moving heaven and earth -- or your bank account.

They have multiple hygienists, all of whom are professional, warm, and gentle. I've seen them carefully clean and sanitize each chair multiple times. We believe in a minimally invasive approach to our health, and he never recommends unnecessary work. Another great aspect is that they've accepted all three different insurance plans we've had over the years, making visits seamless. As a insurance agent for over 20 years I get that a lot of people change insurance annually and you cannot help what the policy will or will not pay for treatment if you are already in treatment when you get a new policy and I see people talking about insurance on here but let me say as a person in insurance and who has worked for a corporate insurance company for over 20 years prior to my position now that you cannot blame a office for your coverages or insurance changes over the course of a treatment. The quality of care you get with Dr. Austin and the prices he charges are less than any other office because he is older and has never made the increases other offices have. The finished product and detail you get with him you will not get anywhere else. He is the most genuine person and is very honest you cannot expect not to wear your aligners and them move your teeth. If you cannot commit to wearing them then use braces that are glued to the teeth but do not expect to move teeth with aligners you never wear. Out of laziness,…read moreinstead of proceeding forward with different types of retention for my challenging case, Dr Grauer decided keeping me in invisalign trays for the rest of my life was the best solution he could offer. Since Dr Grauer is the only orthodontist I had been to as an adult I didn't know that doing so meant that my teeth would always be moving and were never put into final retention - and that doing so meant that my orthodontic treatment was never completed. I only discovered this when Dr. Grauer attempted to charge me $500 to replace the final invisalign tray set a few months ago (which I was told was my final retainers). After I had already paid $7k for treatment + additional costs for retainers that I couldn't use bc once placed they would push my teeth out of alignment, I wasn't willing to pay an additional $500 every time I needed new aligners (since I would likely need a new set every year for the rest of my life). After I insisted they lower the price for the aligners, after comparing the cost of a permanent retainer ($300-600) which lasts 10-20 years, to the cost of paying $500 a year for aligners (which are only supposed to last a few weeks to a month, but I was stretching them for a full year at a time), Dr. Grauer wrote me a formal letter releasing me as a patient. He failed to complete my orthodontic treatment, never put my teeth into final retention, tried to charge me $500 for my final set of aligners and then formally released me as a patient when I called attention to it. I now have to pay another orthodontist to address what Dr. Grauer failed (and refused) to do. Dr. Grauer should have his licensed reviewed, penalized and potentially revoked. How many other of his patients are wearing invisalign for their entire lives after having paid for "top notch" orthodontic treatment? And for him to shrug off the responsibility of it by releasing me as a patient after I paid him over seven thousand dollars? Most orthodontists charge half of that and they actually finish their patient's treatment. Dr. Grauer's actions are inexcusable and unacceptable. I want my money back.
