These patients sing praises about Forte, from the doctors to the nurses to the efficient people at the front desk. From a visitor's point of view, Forte is great. They are very straightforward with their instructions, which I appreciate. Just tell me what to do and what to expect, and I'll do it and expect it. Everything went pretty much according to what they said. They have a smoothly running system here. Visitors can help themselves to the unlimited coffee and water at the coffee and water station. This is where the Little Free Library is located! The waiting room also has multiple seating arrangements, from high-top desks to comfy chairs to love seats. Or, if you need something to eat or drink, there's a cafe on the first floor. (See my separate review for La Verna Cafe.) The waiting room is airy and bright. One thing that's kinda weird is that a "cruise director" comes and talks about what to expect with your surgery ... right in the waiting room, among all those random people. That seems unusual, right? However, there are private rooms that you're taken to when the time comes to talk about your particular case with the doctor. As a visitor who is not a patient, Forte is great. But I've been told that it's also great being a patient here, so there's that.

They do it so badly that during the COVID-19 pandemic the governor of Indiana activated the National Guard to staff the place. I am disabled and had the misfortune to be taken here for a cardiac event. I was placed on a bed in the hall, never put in a room and never even given a blanket while I lay there unattended and shivering. No one told me anything about what tests would be run until someone showed up to do an X-ray, EKG or draw blood. No one told me how to access my records at any point in time, so I had to look up online how to do that. The doctor spent maybe 3 minutes total with me and didn't even have the decency to stop and look me in the eye after saying I was being discharged. He wouldn't even answer any questions I had. I was given no follow-up instructions or any aftercare advice. Most hospital emergency rooms will ask if you are having thoughts of hurting yourself, someone else, or being abused. They didn't even do that! I wrote in my journal that as a person with PTSD I am accustomed to my physical symptoms being dismissed and that's one thing, but it was another thing entirely for St. V's to treat me as if they knew I might have a physical problem and did not give a damn whether it killed me. The scary thing is I've seen worse, including turning the bill for a rape kit over to collections, and a nurse in their ER having to nag the neurosurgery unit to give her 19-year-old uninsured son his pain medication while he was recovering from surgery for an aneurysm--getting called a "bitch" for her efforts. Avoid this place at all costs. This place is the epitome of everything wrong with healthcare in Indiana, if not the United States.

On my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. P (Peter is what he goes by, but I believe it said Dr. Derrick Yoder on their app). I explained to the doctor that I'd slept on the floor a couple of nights earlier and that my back didn't appreciate that. There was some banter back and forth... he's very personable. He identified the area of concern on my back and got some really good cracks in that relieved all of that pain. I was impressed. He also did some hip adjusting that isn't normally done during visits, but did address an issue that was identified at the initial assessment visit. The neck cracks were epic too. My neck always goes... and loudly, but these were super- crunchy! Idk if it was the length of time since my previous visit or if it was his technique, but I left feeling amazing! The office is always clean and inviting. The young woman at the front desk is warm and welcoming, and the wait is never long. During this visit, I went straight back.

The Dr that works there is very good at what he does. It's also nice because he seems to genuinely care and ask with each visit if there are any new concerns or anywhere that hurts.
