Doctor K (Tarik Kardestuncer, M.D.) is a remarkable individual, spectacular human, and truly embodies the Hippocratic Oath. He is hardworking and excellent at what he does. I can't say enough about him, both as a person and as a doctor. He surpasses any other doctor I've ever met. And at 67 years old, I've seen a BUNCH of doctors, he is by far the best! I had a previous experience with this office that was rather unpleasant. I got in line to check in. When it was my turn , all of a sudden every receptionist (or whatever they are called these days) was "occupied". The fact that I was left standing there for over five minutes was ridiculous. Finally, a young lady returning from her break helped me check in. Miraculously the person right behind me was invited to check in immediately. Hmmmm. The wait to see the doctor was also lengthy. I was finally called to the back only to meet with the doctor I was referred to for five minutes and told he was referring me to his colleague. Horrible bedside manner. Condescending to be sure. I didn't ask why he was referring me to someone else. I was checked out by the same receptionist who walked over from her desk to do so. Hmmm. I went to the second appointment and not so bad this time. However, this doctor's bedside manner was as off-putting as the first. Just a bit too much arrogance. I decided not to return. Fast forward. I end up at the ER with a hand injury that is not healing properly and broke open and bled profusely. The ER contact a hand surgeon who knows immediately what it is without seeing it. Unfortunately they are affiliated with, you guessed it, Orthopedic Partners. Must be new I thought. So the OP was supposed to get me in ASAP according to the ER nurse. At least by Friday. No phone call. I call the following week and can't locate my insurance card so I'm told I need to provide the number before an appointment can be made. Understood. I find the card and try to call back several times that same day. No one picks up. Just on hold indefinitely. The next day I try again. No luck. The third day, after trying unsuccessfully to connect with scheduling I speak to an operator to ask if there is a better time to call. She tells me no, not really. High call volume. So, I say thank you and have a nice day. I contact a surgeon's office affiliated with Backus Hospital and surprise! they answered immediately and tell me what I should do for a referral. Pleasant, professional and efficient. Thank goodness for options. read more

Just stay away from these doctors They messed me up for years trying to deal with hip and back pain. The only thing they r really good at is making money and abandoning patients they make mistakes on. read more

Can you give negative stars? DO NOT go here! My son had a complete fracture of his radius and ulna- the doctor told him it was a clean break and in 6 weeks he will be fine. The appointment was under 5 minutes with me asking all the questions. The biggest red flag was that he said he could return to school the next day with only a splint on his arm- despite my son saying he was in so much pain. No way! We took my son to CCMC and the pediatric doctors were horrified with our initial diagnosis. My son has a displaced bone by 15 degrees- needs to be in a cast for 12 weeks - and was hard casted immediately to prevent further injury to the bones. He also needs weekly X-rays to ensure the bone heals straight. If I were to stay with this practice, my son's arm would have been deformed. Do not go here!!!!! read more

I have been to this practice many times for myself, and now with two of my kids. The doctors are friendly and competent, as is the entire medical staff. It is sometimes hard to make medical appointments and the checkin process can be cumbersome, especially if you have a hand injury. However, the medical doctors do spend adequate time with patients and seek all avenues for treatment. In one case, my daughter needed sonic therapy for a tough ankle bone injury. Dr Vafek worked with a sales rep to get my daughter an experimental device for free since insurance wouldn't cover it. I highly recommend this practice. read more

Editing to add: I read the reviews after I wrote mine and I don't understand how Dr. Wei still has a job here. So many awful reviews about him in this section and he was the doctor we had. Pretty appalling. I would give 0 stars. Niantic location review. My 5 year old broke his clavicle Monday and the ER referred us here. I was impressed that I got a call from them the next day to schedule him and that I didn't have to call. They got him in the following day. (Wednesday) However, in the call she made sure to let me know that they don't take husky, but because it was an ER referral they had to. She also told me that they start seeing patients at age 6 but would ask the Dr. if they would see him at age 5. She called me back and said they would. Ok. So I'm feeling pretty good about the place. My son did not want to be there. He just spent hours in the ER less than 48 hours prior. He was scared and in pain. Our appointment was at 3:20. They took us back to a room at 3:40. The doctor didn't come in until 4:30. At 4 I went out and asked how much longer, the assistant could not give me a time and said he was running behind. I'm like "ok does he know he's five?" Not only that but you can't do ANYTHING for a broken clavicle. The doctor knew he had a 5 year old waiting for an ER ordered follow up and would be in there for under 5 minutes. At 4:20 I went out again. This time I was very upset. I said "our appt was an hour ago, he's five years old, he should have been a priority." I hear the doctor call out from somewhere "he's next!" Doctor Wei comes in, very impersonal, no bedside manner, just not nice. My son was quiet, shy. And the doctor has the nerve to say "sounds like you don't listen very well." Spent, as expected, under 5 min in the room. Didn't even look at his collar bone. Answered a few questions we had and that was that. While I understand doctors run late, there was no excuse for this. I'm certain a doctor looks at his schedule. He knew a 5 year old with a broken clavicle would have been a 5 minute visit. He could have popped in and out but made us wait an hour. And then had the nerve to criticize my son for "not listening." When my son was silent upon his entry to the exam room. Next time don't agree to take a five year old when you start seeing patients at age 6, but at the end of the day, a 6 year old shouldn't be made to wait an hour either. I won't be keeping my follow up appointment for 4 weeks. I'll book somewhere else. Do better. read more

Terrible. No customer service. Came in complaining of sciata and back pain and was assigned to an ankle specialist who spent less than 10 mins with me. Tried to get a refill of a prescription. Left a message as asked and 10 days later, had to call back. Thankfully the prescription wasn't essential. When I called back and asked if I could get a refill, the girl who answered said she would put it through. She never even asked my name. While on the phone with her I had to check more than once that we hadn't been disconnected. Never did get a refill. Find another place to go. If I could give negative stars, I would. read more

This is by far the worst practice I have ever been to. Mr Wei never looked at or examined my injury at all. I had to keep asking questions about my injury as he offered no information. He never even asked how I got injured. I asked if I was ok to go to work and he told me to suck it up. I wasn't trying to get out of work, just wanted to know if I had any restrictions. In fact, I signed an agreement for my visit to be audio and video taped so everything I write here is 100% fact and undeniable. This is why I call this place a "Meat Processing Plant" because they are more concerned about pushing patients through amd making money rather than quality care. I will never ever return there, I would rather have my limbs fall off. I had to rate at least 1 star, it wouldn't let me leave it blank. read more
