Any city across the country would love to have park like Albert-Oakland (sadly many don't). I came for the disc golf. Two 18 holes courses (wow!). The original winds through gentle slopes and wooded areas, complete with tough dog legs and water hazards. The newer course mostly takes you up and down a large hill. While this newer course's layout is a bit simpler than the original, you will be throwing around plenty of well-placed trees and other obstacles. You could spend all day here and never be bored. I hope to be back the next time I'm in Columbia!

On one visit we witnessed a lifeguard during her break and on her own take a couple of bottles of water to an elderly gentleman waiting for his great grandchildren. It was very hot that day, it was not her job to do this but she did a try Hunan kindness. Today, we were in the pool and the group of lifeguards gave a little boy who is a regular at the pool a lifeguard t-shirt, and let him carry a lifeguard float around. The little guy just beamed with pride and happiness. Again they didn't have to do this, it wasn't in their job description, but they made a young boy very happy. He probably won't ever forget this day. You have an amazing group of young people working at your pool. You should be very proud!!

There's locker's availble as well. There's a concession stand with limited food and drinks but very reasonable. Zero entry, most of the pool areas are 3'6 deep to 3'. There are baby slide, a medium wide slide and a large slide as well as a basketball hoop, innertubes and a deeper area for the larger kids and adults. There are plenty of lounge chaise and tables with an umbrellas. They take cash or checks, no debit or credit cards. Nice for the locals and those who are visiting the area. My only suggestion is that the teenagers working there, learn how to say "Thank You" when taking money either for entry or at the concession stand.

I'm surprised they don't have a website. The best way to get more information is to call them or drop by and pick up a copy of their program guide, Rolla Fun Times. There is a track (1/10 of a mile), a gym, basketball court, volleyball court, and indoor water area. Adult passes are $7 for daily $28 per month for annual, or $302 for one time annual There are other prices for couples, children, students, and seniors. There are also scholarships for low-income families. The have a variety of classes including water fitness, cycling, yoga, pilates, and various leagues like basketball, volleyball, tennis and ping-pong. The hours are pretty good, 5:30 AM - 10 PM on weekdays, and 8 AM - 9 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM- 7 PM for the school year. The gym is pretty good, though they could probably use two benches and two inclined benches (they only have one of each). The water area is amazing. They have a huge indoor water slide, a lazy river area, a shallow water recreation area (for kids), and an area for lap swimming. The indoor water slide is gigantic. You can get a lock to store things in the lockers in the locker rooms, and they have a water extractor for your swimming suit, which removes most of the water. Outside, they have a 9-hole frisbee golf course, which is pretty fun. You can purchase a disc set (three discs including driver, middle-range, and putter) from the centre for $25. I highly recommend the place. My family frequents this place.

I will usually go back to this course anytime I am down this way. When you walk into the club house you can see that several different football players and other sports figures have come through to play the course. It is owned by Justin Smith of the Cincinatti Bengals and he grew up in this area so that's pretty cool. This is an 18-hole Public Golf course that plays just under 6700 yards from the longest tee, for a par of 72. The front nine has some holes near water and appear to be in better condition than the back nine. Hole #2 is a par 5 where you can't even really see the fairway, but you have to be precise in where you drive the ball. Your second shot is generally between 220 and 189 (depending on how far you drive). Reachable in two for an eagle. If you go left then chances are you're dropping a shot. Holes #17 and 18 are challenging. 17 goes straight up a hill and can be frustrating if you don't hit a good tee shot. I call 18 the arrogant tee shot. The correct way to play the hole is to hit into the small fairway patch and then attack the green. This hole has a severe dog leg right and it's about 230-250 to clear the trees if you want to go straight for the green. Most usually end up in the trees, but if you can find your ball then you are just a chip shot away. I would normally give it 5 stars, but the recent conditions of this course have made it drop one star. There is a fungus that is killing the greens and they don't seem to do much about it. Another factor is that the greens are somewhat small so you don't have much to work with. Overall though, for the price and location, it's a fun round.

Some of the holes on the course are what I would call narrow and lined with trees. It's a little more challenging than other courses I've golfed at. Overall it's great for a nice round of golf. Not as family friendly as TCGC in my opinion though.
