We needed an already purchased toilet installed. Oscar's Sons-in-law came down and they were very professional, very friendly, and very accommodating. The toilet was actually a bit too big for the space where the old one was, so David suggested a fix and didn't charge extra for it. I was referred to Oscar by a good friend of mine. Called and spoke to Evelyn, who was very kind and courteous and made appointment for service. I needed 2 toilet Flanges replaced, but when Oscar called me prior to appointment time to confirm, he explained a better option. Danny and Oscar JR. arrived on time and removed and replaced 2 toilets and were able to repair both Flanges to better than new condition. They were professional and obviously very experienced. I called Oscar because I attempted to fix a leaky faucet myself and that didn't go so well. He was on time showing up to my house and was very honest about what needed to be done. I ended up purchasing a new faucet because there was no hope for my previous one. Once I found the one I wanted, I gave him a call to come back to install it. The installation was quick and easy. My mom has been using these guys since it was formally called Schneider pluming. Oscar is the go to guy but today one of his plumbers seriously made him look bad by coming out and making the situation even worse and then leaving without at least turning the hot water down or turning the gas off before leaving. 4 hours later we are still having a leak at the water heater. I had to step in and call to see how we can remedy the steaming water gushing out. Oscar called me back to give me instructions but his worker bee should have done these things prior to leaving. Less than stellar in my opinion. On another occasion they dug a trench from the house to the gas line. They took out grass but when they filled in the trench it wasn't even. If someone unknowingly walked through they could have tripped and broken an ankle. It should have been flush to the ground but there were holes within it and you could still see the piping. Super sloppy workmanship for a professional in my opinion The hole they made into the side of the home wasn't even round nor did they put a rubber gasket of sorts to keep out bugs and critters. It was half ass work in my opinion, but my mom likes Oscar for some reason. Until I can turn her to a more professional Plummer your just lucky to have her. I personally will not recommend this business if someone asks me for a recommendation. read more

When reviewing, I do so without being bias but putting the facts out there. I do agree with a fellow yelper here that he is nice and professional when he explains things to you which is always a plus. I went to him as a referral from a coworker who has used him for a long time. So I thought I couldn't go wrong. I used him to twice for a clogged kitchen sink which was fine, good service and fee was somewhat reasonable. The 3rd time, I had clogged and broken/leaking pipe under the kitchen sink that needed attention and replacement asap. Good part is, he came within the hour. Now here is the bad part. I'm not sure if its because its an emergency or because he obviously know we need this fix that this is the time to pretty much charge whatever the heck he wanted. I'm sure everyone have had a time they feel they may be ripped off but when its literally obvious, it pisses you off. For example, a $5 bottle of water may seem costly but what about $20 water just because you just ran a mile, had no water and this guys stands there with one for $20? Charging a bit more is fine but don't overdo it! We didn't fix the whole pipe but just the broken section in the kitchen and guess what he charged when he was done? $850!!!! I was like what?! They (2 guys) took literally 30 minutes to change it and he wants to charge me $850?!?! At that moment, it is what it is and we didn't have a choice anymore. Lesson learn to ask for the cost before the job. Never assume, even though you have used them in the past that they cant rip you off on another job. We decided to re-pipe and remodel this year and the new contractor we used now said if i had paid more the $400 for that kitchen pipe he did, it was too much. I wanted to cry! Yes, some will say its his quality of the work but its not. My current contractor explained clearly to me how its usually done and the way he did it was incorrect considering the small section he did. If it was the whole system then its ok. The way Oscar did it would clog up easily again and would have to call them again to unclog the drains in the near future. Ironic don't you think? Generally though, I am not here to ruin a small business but to state the facts of an experience I had. He still has good customer service, tries to get to you as soon as he can and was professional. Just what he did the last time upset me (pretty much felt robbed) and will never use him or refer him to anyone again. read more

I am really, really sad to post this update. In fact I thought about it for 10 days before deciding to do this update. If you read my two previous glowing reviews you'll see that I was the very first to review in 2008, I posted photos of Oscar and his truck and sent ALOT of business his way. I'm always thrilled to help new businesses, especially when they give great customer service. Unfortunately that is no longer the case here. I had Oscar come out to repair my garbage disposal in late December and at that time had him look at my dripping bathtub faucet ( which one of his workers had installed a few years back) He took a look at it, said he was too busy with the days schedule and that he would be back. Now to myself I'm very surprised and wondering if he's trying to charge for a 2nd house call but these are difficult times so I let it go. Long story short never heard from him again cut to now and the water won't turn off at all! Three voicemails and Audrey never returns the calls, when my husband finally catches her she says he's busy blah, blah, blah and generally couldn't be more disinterested. We ask for at the very least a courtesy call which never came. FOUR DAYS LATER Audrey says he can MAYBE come a week later but no promises. ... Are you kidding me? This is how you treat your most loyal customers? Seems like it's easy to forget the people who backed you in the beginning and it's easy to just chase the bigger jobs. No thank you! read more

Affordable, reliable and quick! East of the 710 FWY, South of the 60 FWY, West of the 605 FWY or North of the 105, you will not find a better plumber! These guys are fast, clean and professional. They are way less expensive than those plumbers you hear about on TV. Mike Diamond once came out and wanted to charge me $4,000 to install a clean out. Alex from Hernandez Plumbing was able to do it for less than 1/4 of the cost. If they are too busy to work with you, they will subcontract with another local plumber but you deal with Hernandez Plumbing for negotiating pricing or the like. My house is fairly old so fixing things around the house seems to be constant. In this case, I had a pipe issue with the main water line. There was a leak in the main line that must have been going on for weeks because a puddle started forming at the base of my house. The main line was re-piped about 5 years ago, so I assumed it occurred when we recently installed a water softener system. After further inspection with the water softener installer, we determine the cause was a leak in the pipe from the re-piping 5 years ago. I left a message with Oscar Hernandez Plumbing that night and they called back the following morning. They scheduled a repair for that afternoon. We hired Oscar Hernandez based on George Schneider's plumbing reputation. Oscar worked for him for years. We hired him because we thought the bathroom toilet valve pipe had a hole in it. I wish that I had been here when he arrived but I missed him by a few minutes. My 90 year old father let him in the house to do the work. He liked Oscar for years when he had worked with George. Unfortunately, George passed away some time ago and gave the business to Oscar and his brother. Well it turned out the pipe was fine. It only needed a new compression fitting. A very inexpensive part. Oscar took the initiative to replace the braided hose with a new braided hose and the valve with a new cheaper quality one. These were both fairly new and in perfect shape. For no reason he replaced the toilet flapper that was less than a year old with the same kind. I noticed that the toilet was now leaking after he messed with it. I had to fix it myself. He gouged my father for $56 in parts and $180 labor for less than a half hour work! He never left a bill. He told my father to don't worry about it. I was pleased that the leak was fixed. But nearly fell over when I received his bill. I really thought that he was going to be my go to guy for plumbing. Didn't think that he would gouge a 90 year old man on the price. Sorry Oscar, but I did give a chance. Never again. read more

Plumbing Job was paid for on August 6, 2018. Two months later On October 7th I realize that the separation of my washer was not done which means that I have been using water from my tenant's meter. This is a problem for me because I have my house under rent control and I also have an inspection coming up on October 18th. I called Oscar and ask him if he can correct what was missed to which he said that he was very busy for the next two weeks. I share with him how important it is for him to come sooner and ask if he can squeeze me in his schedule so I can be compliant during the inspection because my tenants may accuse me of using their water and this could be a problem for me. Oscar tells me that he will try. A day later he calls me, to tell me that his worker refuses to come and do the job and he can not force him, for me to call another plumber locally. Mind you, that I did business with Oscar because I was referred to him and now I am stuck with finding another plumber and with the having to spend additional money. I feel that he did not value me as a customer and was not responsible for his or his employees fault of not separating the water piping from my washer. This is very unfortunate because I did not pay thousands of dollars to have the job incomplete. I will not recommend his services and I will let the person that recommended him to me know of the quality of service he provided. Very disappointed. read more
