After read a lot of good reviews on Yelp, I contacted Oscar to tuning and replace the F key in major C note on my piano. I sent him pictures about my piano before he came hoping he can do his job in 1 day He came on 9/18/23 checked on piano and said he didn't have the right string . He needs to come back to do all the jobs and asking $200 deposit for order new string. He came back on 9/27/23 to replace the F string and tuning the piano which takes 2 hours total. I paid $250 more. So I paid total $450 for his job. Two days after 9/29/33 when practice my songs I realized the F# doesn't sound right. It sounds like I put my feet on the pedal which I didn't. But my level is just 1/4 of the first book of piano for adults, I doubted myself. I trust him with all the praise through reviews and his age. Now I start to learn blue songs. I have to practice more F# key. It makes the sound weird. The songs don't sound right. I contacted him 10/5/23 about this problem. He said just wait a little bit longer and do another tuning. The string just stretched?!!! How can it stretch right after he does his job? How can I believe on a bad job like that after charging me $450 ? My piano sounds beautiful before and now it doesn't sounds good anymore. Because of my beginning level, I can't even find out if more bad things happened on my piano or not Please save your piano to others professional people who do the jobs with their talents and good hearts . I'm glad I found Oscar on Yelp. We are new to SD and don't know anyone. I was worried about finding a piano tuner as we had bad experiences back when we were in the Bay Area. Our piano hasn't been tuned for over 1.5 years. We hired someone who made it worse right before the pandemic, and when the pandemic hits I didn't want to have anyone come into our house. So, our piano needed extra work. Oscar did a great job. I thought he would actually charge me extra for tuning a ruined piano. But he didn't. He was very responsive, I messaged him on Yelp, he relied with his number so that we can set up an appointment via text. He was very on time on the day of the appointment. I'm sure he had to spend extra time to tune our piano. Overall, we were very pleased. We will continue to hire him to tune our piano. His rates are also very reasonable. read more

Our piano had been idle for many years with occasional banging of keys by grandkids. Now one grandson is taking piano lessons and doing well. Oscar came to tune it and explained a double tuning would be required and a follow up tuning in a month. His explanation fit with what I had read about a piano in our condition. As stated in other reviews Oscar is professional, punctual and thorough. In addition he is very honest. After the follow up tuning I wrote a check based upon the first visit. Later in the even he called to let me know I paid too much because the first visit required a double tuning. How nice of him to clarify the over payment. Oscar is such a professional!!!! He communicated promptly about his availability. He was punctual and generous with his knowledge. I had just bought a used piano that is off pitch and instead of charging me to raise the pitch and tune it; he advised me to just tune it. Raising the pitch is more expensive than the piano since I have a Wurlitzer upright which is perfect for my kids who are just starting. I highly recommend him after doing my research. Oscar and I had a bit of a mix-up. He called me when he reached my mobile home park and he was on time. Unfortunately, my ring volume was turned off so I didn't hear it. He left a message that he had arrived and texted me, saying I hadn't provided my unit number and to call him as soon as possible. I texted him within 5 minutes of his message coming in, and called him after another 10 minutes, however he did not answer - he obviously had left and was not inclined to speak to me. I went back to my original email, and I HAD provided my unit number. I sent him an email apologizing again for the mix-up, but I never heard back from him. Sometimes unintended situations arise, things may be overlooked (such as a unit number), and I took responsibility for my part. He never returned my call or responded to my follow-up email and, personally, I think this is quite unprofessional. He obviously doesn't need my business, and I am happy to reschedule with someone else. read more

Oscar is wonderful! I have recently acquired an older piano that was quite out of tune. Oscar was prompt with his email responses after I contacted him and was able to come tune it within the week. He was very thorough and did an excellent job. The whole process was around an hour and a half. Oscar showed up 15 minutes early. Tuning our piano, which hadn't been tuned for over a decade, took him 65 minutes. He charged $100 for the tuneup and $80 for a cleaning. I bypassed the $80 cleaning and instead, before he arrived, moved the piano in front of the door and took my electric leaf-blower to it. That worked fantastically well and took me 10 minutes. I did not get estimates from anyone else, so I don't know if Oscar is high, low, or average for his rates. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with the tuning. read more

By far, the best deal in town for Piano tuning. I have a piano which we've owned for at least 5 years and had never been tuned before. My kids are getting back to piano lessons so I knew it was in need of a good tuning. After reviewing other yelp reviews and getting a few quotes, I decided to try Oscar as he was able to schedule me the quickest and was by far the most competitive of the bunch. Poor Oscar, he had no idea what he was getting into. He must have been at my home for almost 2 hours before he could get it tuned. He mentioned that it had probably not been tuned in the past 15 years, thus the long time. He was also very up front in mentioning that due to the length in the last tuning, it would probably need to be tuned again in about six months. But he stayed true to his quote and only charged me $110 for the tuning. A true professional and highly recommended. read more
