My wife, who is from a small Texas town just north of the border, has been searching for AUTHENTIC Mexican food in northern Michigan for ages. LTs in Charlevoix is great but it's takeout only. Osorio is outstanding!!! Truly authentic. Don't expect Taco Bell or ChiChi's. No lettuce and tomato on your tacos. No Americanized TexMex. This is a must stop if you're craving some good authentic Mexican food! The chips and salsa come with two salsa's a red and green both are mild and tasted delicious but we were offered some spicy options as well and oh man, they were beyond delicious, if you like hot! We dined inside and had a great conversation with the server, the owner came out and chatted with us for a few minutes as well, we learned all about the different salsas he makes fresh. Great authentic restaurant. The salsa bar is no longer open but they give you little to go ramekins of whatever type of salsa you want to try. They have switched over to no plates/baskets and put everything into Styrofoam to go containers. I understand the need during covid but the environmental part makes me cringe. The food was great. We had no complaints. I ordered a dish that had chicken, steak, and chorizo all mixed together with cheese on top. I ate it with the delicious tortillas and rice and beans. Maria gave us great recommendations and went out of her way to provide wonderful service. I had pork and chicken tamales and covered them in the roasted pepper salsa. I'd definitely recommend putting this salsa on whatever you order. As we were leaving, the owner came out and spoke with us. Stopped for the first time on 2/12 after skiing Vasa trail. The service was very fast and helpful. We had chicken, pork, and steak tacos. All were stuffed with meat and served the way tacos should be with just onions and cilantro. Too many places drown their tacos in crema and take away from the main ingredients. Chips were great and salsas were excellent. Owners were fun to talk to about Football and Futbol. Will be going back soon. read more

I have been coming here for years- it's the perfect place to pick up a picnic lunch for the beach, boat, or dinner for the cabin. The aesthetic is casual- no frills. Yet it's colorful authenticity brightens the souls & taste buds of tourists and locals alike. Picture a deli style counter, fridges full of salsas, jarritos in every flavor and housemade tres leches. Their chips and salsas are fresh and divine. Pre covid days, you could sample all of their salsas at the counter. I prefer the milder varieties, but they're all vibrant and flavorful. I love the homemade tortillas, the fresh guacamole and the fun atmosphere. Though I've never dined in here (warning: no AC) I do highly recommend ordering food for any crowd. If you call ahead at least a day, they willingly cater to larger parties as well! We once ordered enough enchiladas for 24 people! read more

Osario's Tacos is located in Traverse City, MI. The food is decent enough. Probably the best meal we've had since coming to Michigan, but nothing spectacular. We are both fortunate & spoiled to be living in Chicago where you can get any kind of ethnic food of the finest quality. The owner was a very nice guy. He told me he use to drive to 55th and Damen in Chicago to get his supplies for his restaurant before he was able to get the supplies delivered to him. Can to imagine driving 5hrs in one direction or 10hrs round trip just to get supplies for your restaurant. The food was horrible. Ordered a quesadilla-came to the table sitting in liquid and was soggy, none of the food had any flavor. They padded the bill by adding on two additional drinks that we didn't order ($5.99 each) and when we asked about it she just said "that's just how we do it" and refused to refund the difference. My favorite meal of our vacation here in Traverse City. Portions are ridiculously big and flavors are amazing if you aren't timid. When they say spicy, they aren't talking about grandmas peppered beef, the spicy salsa is tremendous, everybody says so. My review is actually a 3.5 stars but I decided to round up rather than down because of the friendliness of the owners and their super welcoming and positive attitudes. You really can't help but smile when you walk in the doors. It feels homey. Admittedly, I need to try more food and I will update my review once I do. However, my first impressions of the food weren't great. I got the Taco (burrito) Puerco Verde. It was HUGE but it was pretty flavorless... it pretty much tasted as if they combined unsalted rice, unsalted beans, and unsalted pork into a gigantic tortilla and that was the end of that. I'm not really sure where the verde sauce disappeared to either. The homemade salsa was nothing to write home about either. Tasted watered down and you guessed it - like it needed more salt. Noticing a theme here? After paying over $16 with tax I can't really say it was worth it, but I will definitely be back to try some other items in hope that this was just an off day for their burrito! read more

I wish I could give them all five stars, even 4.5 stars would be more apt than 4. The reason for withholding that last bit of a star is that the tamales were a little overdone on one side, which resulted in a tough masa shingle like object. This was on both of ours. Another reason was that the tamales were just a little light on the meat filling. I am not saying they needed to have a significantly larger serving of meat, but a little bit more would have done it for me. We had a taco plate consisting of the Pastor and the Carne Asada, both were great! We had their chips and salsa and I was very impressed with their Verde and their Rojo salsas and with the Pico that came with the Tamales. Our son had beans and rice and loved them. The staff were helpful and the food came out quick, particularly the beans and rice for our rugrat, so again kudos to the staff, as the beans and rice were warm but not piping hot (meaning he could eat them without having to wait for them to cool down). We will totally be hitting up Osorio again when our craving for Tacos or Tamales hits us. I know I am being critical of the tamales, but the overall flavor was so good, I was very bummed when I tried to eat that last bite and it was basically a piece of masa 'wood'. read more

Not too bad for northern mi. Close to authentic street tacos. Only thing missing was the Cotija cheese and 2 Tortillas. 9 out of 10.

Had lunch there 4/28/22. Enchiladas. Cold, tortillas barely cooked. Apparently they have great salsas/sauces - wouldn't know because they gave me bland red and green when I asked for some salsa. Overheard them talking to a regular and they set him up. Staff pleasant and attentive- but it is was expensive- $13.95 for three small enchiladas and 3 tablespoons each of rice and beans. Decent but not worth any type of rave review or another visit. read more
