The food is great everytime I visit. The staff is very friendly and we always have great service. If you love Mexican food try this place out!

The new Mexican restaurant in Onekama is pretty good. Lots of choices on the menu. I had one of the combos which included 2 enchiladas and 1 taco plus rice and refried beans for $12.99. Not bad really. Started the dinner with chips and salsa which often is complementary but $2 here. Totally understand though because I think it's hard to keep a business open in this sleepy town. Others had the tacos and the fish tacos which were deemed very good. Note that the salsa that comes with the tacos is muy caliente! Tasty though. Service was good and food came out pretty quickly. Note that they charge 3% more for credit card but I didn't see a sign or any notice about that. Again, just trying to make a living in Onekama.

We saw Amigos Mexican Restaurant come up on a search for Yelp while visiting Onekama. The pictures looked amazing and the reviews were great so we wanted to try it. I am SO GLAD that we did! Wow! When we came in we were greeted so warmly and kindly by the staff. We opted for carry out, as my husband and I had plans to watch a movie while we ate and the food was prepared so quickly. I thought it was really cool that the woman who worked there pointed to everything in the carry out containers and told us what each thing was, ensuring that all items were in the bag before we left. It was really helpful and appreciated! My husband said the burrito de la casa was the best burrito that he's ever had- and he is a very harsh critic. The queso dip and salsa were both fantastic and my veggie fajitas were incredibly flavorful. I'm so happy that we came across Amigos Mexican Restaurant- it was EXACTLY what we needed! So delicious!

Giant famous dessert at this place!

Tried this place when they first opened over a year ago, it was not that good of food or service and such long wait. I've been back twice since it's so close to our summer place to give them another try, and both times, outstanding!! Very authentic, great service, large portion and reasonably priced. The atmosphere significantly improved. They have a very popular dessert and it was giant and awesome! We will come here every time we're in town.

Small town restaurant with a beautiful view of Portage Lake. Service was very friendly and seating is tight yet comfortable. We started with chips & salsa and made-to-order guacamole. Guac is not mashed but cut up tomatoes, onions, avocado and cilantro. It could use lime but overall we liked the freshness! Salas is a little too tomato for our taste and also needed salt (plenty on the table!!) Opted to try the Mole since it's pretty hard to find. Absolutely obvious the server was new because she knew very little about the menu - but willing to ask and accommodate. Very kind. Husband ordered carne asada tacos. Mole was just okay (I like it slightly sweet) but chicken was good and so were the beans. Rice was fine. Husband enjoyed his tacos which came with grilled and pickled onions!! and a side of radish. We both really missed the citrus garnish. Typical bottled soda choices of like a good Mexican restaurant. Overall we'll be back!

    Huarache with carnitas

Tried this place for the first time--we thought it was good! I had the huarache with carnitas--it was a little greasy due to the carnitas but very tasty. The taco eater thought her dinner was very good (al pastor). The salsa served with dinner was deliciously spicy. Great addition to Onekama!

Great food! We ordered takeout. Not a lot of seating inside. Could use some tables outside if that's allowed. Service was quick.

I recently commented on a $15.00 breakfast at Chef Jarod's and Company that is literally less than 30 second drive and 2 minute walk from each other. Look at the picture and for the same price you decide. You can substitute the biscuits and gravy with pancakes if you wish too. Eggs cooked perfectly to order. Coffee cup continuously filled. This is a busy diner and the wait at the door is well worth it.

Much like the small, quaint little places of yesteryear. Typical diner decorations, typical diner servers, and typical diner patrons. This was textbook. It was super busy when I got there, but by the time I left there was probably a 10-15 minute wait at the door. But you know these breakfast places keep takin' 'em in and puttin' 'em out. Since I absolutely despise anything where all my breakfast foods are mushed together (pizzas, burritos, omelets, scrambles, hitches, macros, and fizzles), I opted for the more traditional route of "food on a plate, maybe touching a little bit." It's kind of like the difference between kissing cousins and married cousins. This episode of breakfast will be brought to you by: chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, American potatoes, bacon, and toast. Special guest, chocolate milk. I'm a little trollop for chicken fried steak. Or really anything fried with a layer of gravy. This one wasn't bad. Had decent flavor, gravy portioning was good. I would welcome it back like a close friend. The eggs were good as well. Since my body can only consume scrambled eggs, anytime they aren't runny or have that weird cooked-too-long skin on them is a win in my book. I would embrace them again like a long lost relative. The American potatoes (or how I always have to ask for them because I can never remember the name "those little potatoes that are chunks"), were good with the ketchup. Cooked the way they were supposed to be. I would sit next to them again on a bus. The bacon. Oh, the bacon. If you're a breakfast place and serve bacon, this will make you or break you in my eyes. The hardest thing I have ever found so far are restaurants that claim to know how to do floppy bacon. Limp bacon. Soggy bacon. Whatever you want to call it. They always claim they know how, then they bring out bacon I could harpoon a fish with. I want bacon I can tie together like shoelaces. Sadly, this bacon missed the mark. I would turn this bacon away at the door. Ultimately, it was a breakfast place. It did what it set out to do. Chocolate milk 10/10 Made up breakfast foods 3/3 Flaccid bacon 5/10

The dessert menu looked incredible and they have bakery selections including the largest cinnamon roll I've ever seen in my life. I didn't partake, but would recommend going to check it out! Went with the Dipper Heifer which was HUGE. Rarely do I have leftovers, yet today I did. Excellent bread, meat, dipping sauce, and potatoes (upgrade from chips) The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the meat was not incredibly flavorful. Perfectly cooked and tasted good...just overall somewhat bland. More cheese would help, too. Will definitely check this place out again!

We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.
