I just happened to be passing by their new location on University Ave., so I pulled in, needing some specialty instillation equipment for a car audio project I've been working on. Before I even exited my car I was happily greeted by Jason, the owner of the business. Not only was he nice and conservative, he was nice enough to give me directions as well as names and numbers of other businesses that may carry what I needed, as they didn't happen to currently have. 99% of people would just say "we don't have what you need" at best! I used to deal with jeff when he was in Stoughton. He always sold products which were out dated. One phone actually had someone else numbers stored. He sold me a refurbished phone as new. The final straw was when I wanted to update my phones. He told me I had to switch carriers to save $300.00 per phone. I called my carrier who informed me he wasn't supposed to do that. This is a family owned business that does "car electronics" stuff for real people who need things like iPod integration, bluetooth units, stereo upgrades, backup cameras and remote car starter/alarm kits etc. etc. It's not a tuner shop selling silly plastic accessories to kids who prefer to look fast instead of go fast ... I was in on the day before '10 Christmas and the place was jammed with people buying remote car starter kits as Christmas gifts. I, however, was in to get my stealthy Passport Qi45 integrated radar detector installed invisibly into my car. Never had a speeding ticket in my life but have used high-end radar detectors for years to avoid the revenue generating speedtraps in NH and ME where they love to tag MA drivers. Now that I'm old enough to gripe about aesthetics I wanted the ugly dash mount detector gone. Was tired of it falling off the windshield in cold weather and having to take it out of the car at night. I finally decided it was worth money to me to have a subtly installed radar detector that is not visible unless you see the control buttons on the dash. As a nerd I also like that the system supports active laser-shifters (cop vs citizen electronic countermeasure warfare is pretty badass...) although I chose not to install the anti-laser modules. Chose Osprey to do the install because they are listed on the passport website as being an authorized installer. They also DO NOT heavily push the other line of remote radar products -- the K40 Calibre gear which is very popular with car installer shops, presumably because the profit margin is higher despite the products actually not being reviewed as performing at their job all that well. Visit #1 --------- The actual install was fantastic. My car was difficult to wire and they did a great job with the mounting brackets and routing of the cable through the engine and firewall. Certainly glad I did not take the car to BestBuy which also sells and installs the Passport Qi45... They also removed parts of my dash to drill a wire path for the control unit despite the fact that they could have been lazy and just run the wire up the side of the dash. The end result was a beautiful and clean install clearly done by pro car installers. Visit #2 --------- The real reason for the 5-star review is how they handled a significant problem with the radar detector. It worked perfectly EXCEPT for the fact that it would shriek false laser alerts whenever I pressed down on the accelerator. I reported this to Passport and they gave me some good technical advice and mailed me a free RF filter for the 12v power feed to the unit. Osprey installed the RF filter at no charge and were great about it - they scheduled me into an already busy day just to make sure I got things sorted sooner rather than later. Overall I'm very pleased, especially at seeing how well they implement their customer satisfaction policy. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!! BEWARE CONSUMERS!!! I bought a radio for my car and was told this would be the best place to have it installed. Brought it in and got a call that the radio was no good and wouldn't work in my car. OK that took all of 15 minutes.. Went to pick up the radio and was charged $95.00. I questioned the fee and was told it took an hour of work to get the radio out and back in. OK I leave. A friend in my office suggested he try it. YES in 10 MINUTES he had the old radio out and the new one in (the same one Osprey said would not work). I now have a radio and CD player! No thanks to Osprey. I felt I was totally ripped off. I bought a video system for the van and after 3 months, the headphones broke which they have a 1-year warranty. He wants me to call the manufacturer and deal with them. I have been coming to Jason for at least 12 years. The reason why is they do ultra amazing work and he and his staff can do the thinking for you. For example I just had them install a apple car play by Alpine. Jason asked a few questions about the install and off I went to work in a rental car he completely set up for me. It was seamless and I arrived at work really got at my normal time. Though out the day I would think and wonder about how it is going to turn out and then of coarse we all have our fears and doubts not with them but with ourselves. Like should I have mentioned where I would like USB port installed or that antenna. So around 3 PM Jason called me and said you are all ready to go. So I drove to his store/shop and handed him the rental car keys and he said don't worry they will pick it up on the AM. So then we went out to my Volvo XC90 and he sat in the passenger seat as I sat in the drivers seat. My god he went over everything from A-Z! It was really easy schedule and there's a Starbucks across the street where I was able to do work while my backup camera was installed. They quoted me 3-3.5 hours and at the 3 hour mark, my car was ready and I'm really happy with the camera. read more

It was installed in a timely manner after Jeffrey was nice enough to drive me home. Upon picking up the car he had his tech explain how to use it and made me try it until I knew what I was doing. His wife who does the books is so pleasant , we talked while I waited and she was so sweet.. Of course, even though I thought I knew how to use it, I was confused the next morning. I have had two installs done at Osprey, a Viper remote starter on our Lexus and a new Kicker amp and subwoofer for a 2015 Silverado. The work on both cars was great. A professional job and Jason took as much time as was needed to help explain how it all worked. Jason was great in coming up with a recommendation for the Chevy. I really did not want to make a lot of modifications to the interior of the truck to upgrade a rather weak factory system. Jason did the work to find an option specific for the Chevy, that sounds fantastic and looks great too. I will no doubt head back to Osprey for my future vehicle needs! read more

Bad experience wouldn't go back here again. A few months ago I had and Alpine stereo system installed in my vehicle. After driving for less than a mile something started to rattle so I brought it back. I told him I thought it was coming from the dash and they said we didn't even touch anything in there. Where else would one go lol. After inspections they told me it was my obd2 plug that was loose and that he put it back in the clip for me. Five minutes after leaving the parking lot it did the same thing as I held the piece in my hand that he claimed was making the noise. It still has not been corrected. I had a car stalled installed in my car and my girlfriend's. The car starter/alarm in my car was not installed correctly and my factory alarm would go off but could not be deactivated unless I started vehicle with my key. The alarm also would go off while I was driving which Jay stated shouldn't happen but it was never fixed. Then my girlfriend's car remote is fine but the console covers were ripped off where they did the wiring and they used velcro to keep them in place. It would have been fine but the velcro did not hold them in place too long. After a few days they fell off. Very shoddy work. Jay is a nice guy but I'm more concerned with the work. read more

Installed parking sensors (~$300) and after 3 month of operations they stopped working. Spent 2 months arguing back and forth and being spoken in condescended way and blamed for breaking them was charged another (~$300) to reinstall the new ones. After 2 months the new one failed as well. Don't do business with this company - not a good experience and loss of money. read more

I was referred to Osprey from a guest of mine at my restaurant who said Osprey's is probably the best price in town. I called and spoke to Jeff who gave me a quote but showed signs of an attitude that I ignored thinking maybe he was having a bad day. I made the appointment. When I arrived at 8:30am I was greeted and they took my car in right away. All was good, so I thought. A couple of days later the auto starter stopped working. I called and again Jeff was the person I spoke with. He asked me questions that were expressed in a condescending way. I felt like I may have done something wrong. I made another appointment to bring the car in and it turned out that THEY left something unplugged. I was apologized to and sent on my way. 2 weeks later the auto starter stopped working again. I called and was drilled with questions by guess who ? Yep, Jeff again, "Are you leaving the radio on, are you blasting the heat ect ect my answer was no no no. Jeff said "well you may have blown a fuse some how and it will cost you 65.00 if that's the case, bring it in he said and we'll let you know. " I bring it in AGAIN and was told "it lost signal for some reason and we don't know why". I go on my way again. Now winter has come and gone and Spring is setting in so I thought hey maybe I should try my starter to make sure it's working properly in case i want to use it over the summer with my A/C. Well it was not working again. Called, Questioned, Appointment. Went to appointment and low and behold the switch was turned to the wrong position. I said to Jeff "Why didn't you have me check this switch from home over the phone instead of making me come all the way down here again? He gave me some stupid line that went like this "if I had a baby and it needed to go to the doctors would you have the doctor diagnose over the phone? REALLY JEFF? My car is not a human being its a car. When I said its my only day off and I had to come from Braintree he said "oooo thats far " in a nasty tone, like my time is not important and too bad for me. Jeff you are an asshole and you shouldn't be in the service industry. You should not be allowed to speak to customers. Your a nasty old man who should retire and save us all the aggravation of being in your presence. I will never refer your company to anyone. read more

I was looking to get a remote car starter for my car. Since I wasn't sure where to go, I called around to places I knew wouldn't install (Pep Boys, Sullivan Tire...) but asked for local recommendations and a few told me about Osprey. After giving an informative call I decided to get my automatic started installed with Osprey. They had 3 options to choose from each varying in price and distance at which you can start your car. At my appointment I ended up being talked into the viper smart-start which was a bit more expensive but I am so so glad I went with this option. I can remote start my car by hitting the lock button 3 times on my key fob or by an app on my phone. While me key fob doesn't transmit to my car from very far away, I swear I can start my car via the app from at least a half mile away. I take a shuttle from where I work to where I park and I can start my car using the app very early into my shuttle ride. Basically the car is always locked once started and the headlights intermittently flash so I can see it is on. I think the Location of Osprey is convenient and they did a good job. After about 5 months of having this starter, it has been reliable, not complicated, and has not interfered with any maintenance. I recommend and think it was worth my money! read more
