Sadly the worst meal I had in Newfoundland…read more The location here is quite nice, along a harbour with a lack of cellular service (although wifi is available here). The menu options were quite vast, and there were some special options available off the menu as well. I had the "Treasure Chest" to start, which was cod bites, calamari, scallops, and shrimp served in a bed of fries. This was probably the best part of the meal, as the portions were big and the seafood was relatively fresh. I also had a French Onion soup, which was unfortunately awful. Shredded melted cheese was simply not it. I shared mussels with my parents, which were some of the smallest I've ever seen. It was quite plain, it said olive oil and garlic was supposed to be included, but I barely saw it. Finally there was a crab au gratin on special, which I decided to order with onion rings on the side. Similar to the mussels, the crab was small and there was barely any meat on it. Service was also quite rushed. My family felt like they were trying to chase us out even though it wasn't completely full. Can't say this was a good experience overall sadly.

Gayle and I visited Trinity during a recent cold and foggy weekend and enjoyed dinner here on a Friday evening. As I'm the "gift shop" guy in the family, I went upstairs the next day to take a look. As with almost anywhere in Trinity, walking here was relatively short and pleasant. Here are my thoughts: The Gallery/Gift Shop has some nice local crafts and really nice local art to put on the wall. However, through a combination of "our walls are already full" and "this or that doesn't speak to me", I left with only a Newfoundland coin for my efforts. My advice is that if you're here, you should definitely take a look. Now the Restaurant, which is one of the few in Town. - We sat inside by the windows with a nice view. Outdoor seating was available, but on an evening like this, there were no takers. - The Dining room was attractive, comfortable, and felt like I was in my home town. - Our wait staff were friendly, welcoming, and very interactive about where we were from, local perspectives, and what things we could do in the area. - Our meal was very good. Over 3 glasses of shared white wine, I had the Chowder and a Caesar Salad, while Gayle chose the North Atlantic Scallops. When in Newfoundland, Seafood is what's for dinner.

Top notch service here!…read more Charissa made me feel at home at the bar. I got fresh tasty oysters, the code tongues, and fries. The oysters were small but so refreshing. The cod tongues are a unique item in just had to try and they tasted really good. The fries came out hot but I would say they lacked the crunch I really enjoy.. I still found myself eating them all though. The fry sauces were great, I think all made in house. What I really loved was the homemade peri peri sauce with the oysters... I put it on my cod and fries.. game changer!!! The place is beautifully designed, small and quant, and a good place to hang out. The rotating drink special was a frozen Paloma which was nicely garnished and had a natural wheat straw. The chef gave me a nice little gift at the end of my meal which I appreciated greatly.

This spot in downtown St. John's was recommended to us by a cabbie. We were so glad it was. Lovely…read morespot, fantastic food, fantastic service. Very innovative menu with a focus on local specialties. Highly recommend. My hubby had the lobster soup, and I had a lobster tostada to start. Both were excellent. He then had the muscles and treats. And I had the cod tongues (they are not really tongues!). We highly recommend their bread as well, which comes with like a molasses drizzle. Heavenly. The food and the dining experience was excellent from beginning to end. The tables are a bit kind of close together, but the food and everything else just made it wonderful . Just go there.
