My family recently stayed at The Ostrich Inn in Colnbrook. The location is excellent, conveniently located next to the airport, Windsor castle and Legoland. The ambiance of the inn itself is cozy, charming, and full of character. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The food is outstanding. We really enjoyed the fish and chips, and English breakfast. While staying at the Ostrich, my daughter celebrated her birthday. Every member of the team, Cherry (server), Keta (chef) and Karolina (housekeeper), went above and beyond to make sure my daughter felt incredibly special on her big day. They surprised her with thoughtful touches, including singing her happy birthday, decorating the room, and a heartfelt card. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it made all the difference. All the staff are so welcoming. Thank you, Ostrich Inn, for creating such a special birthday for my daughter. read more

I found this place whilst surfing for something a little less sterile in the Heathrow airport area that we could stay at and still make an early flight without hitting the motorways.. It turns out to be the 3rd oldest Inn in the UK, Dick Turpin's old stomping ground and likely the site and reason (60 people murdered here) for the Sweeney Todd stories so there's plenty of history to be lapped up. Staff were accommodating, warm and friendly, room was just fine and checked all the needed boxes. Food in the Marin was excellent :- Wifey had potted crab for lunch and scampi for dinner whilst I went scampi and a sausage sandwich of which they were all total fan favorites. Breakfast was sadly a tad disappointing with the promise of bubble'n'squeak, - we got an interpretation of what was traditional embedded in my head of what I would describe as a poached egg on a bland mash potato and partially cooked Kale sandwich... Not very appetizing and definitely fell short of the food we had for lunch and dinner. Setting this small hiccup aside, I would highly recommend this place, will definitely point people here to stay rather than one of the airport hotels and we certainly plan on using this fine establishment each time we have a planned stay in the area.... The absolute most welcoming environment I've ever stayed in. I've traveled loads and this place is at the very top of my list. The ambiance is exactly what you expect to get from an inn; warm, cozy and comfortable. After a long day of being out and about throughout the city, I'd always look forward to "coming home" that's truly how it feels. The staff was absolutely wonderful, Cherise, Shannon, & Charlotte were so lovely. They made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. The food was honestly delicious. Would definitely recommend spending a weekend or even just an evening grabbing a bite to eat. It was an incredible experience. This place is the 3rd oldest inn which is like 900 year olds ..I stayed here for a week and come with free hot or cold breakfast it was so delicious and couldn't get enough of it..they also have serve various foods for lunch and dinner(require reservations) if not a guest of the inn ..variety of wine and beers as well ..try their dessert !! Cool pub to check out. It's the third oldest pub in England at 900 plus years old. Since I was Last here, about a year ago, they did some reno and updated the place. The service is good and the beer is kind of warm. I had the crab pate and it was OK - tasted a bit like tuna, but could be the texture. The fish and chips looked great but was lacking seasoning, however the batter was crispy and the mushy peas was spot on. I did try to sticky toffee pudding and it was great, I'm glad I didn't eat all of the fish and saved room.....not that it's a bucket list item, but 900years is pretty damn old..... read more

I really didn't enjoy my evening here. We arrived at around 7.30 and the first room was packed. We waited by the end of the bar but no-one came over so we started walking into the dining room - then a waitress decided to run over to us and ask us if we needed help, but not before a snide "Oh just go ahead then...!" Slightly awkward. We asked for a table for 5 and were seated in the empty dining room. The same waitress took our drink order, one of our party ordered a half pint of coke and reiterated she only wanted a half pint, in a small glass. She was brought a pint anyway - and charged. The service was really bad the whole way through the meal. Our waitresses were constantly dropping things and shouting to each other. I really don't mind erratic or casual service, I know how hard it is working in the service industry but COME ON if your service is crappy surely that's a really good reason not to be really rude on top of it? I felt uncomfortable the entire time - it seemed no matter how polite we were and how much we smiled it was impossible to get a smile back. The food is average pub fodder with a hefty price tag and the menu is way too long for a place like this (which should have been a warning sign) a whole two sided A4 affair that covers everything from British to American via Italian, while offering the usual stuffed potato skins, nachos etc. I had a chicken burger. It was chain-pub quality. The chicken was pretty dry, it'd been advertised as having a "sundried tomato mayonaise sauce" but I couldn't detect anything tomatoey about it. The tomato that came in the burger was watery and tasteless. The skinny fries were very fried and crispy, which is how I like them. But for £11.95 are you kidding?! That's probably the most expensive chicken burger I have ever eaten. But when I think of the burger I could get with £11.95 in London I feel robbed. read more

Very pleasantly surprised. We went with a customer after a very hard day of work. I had a few pints of Guardsman (Windsor and Eton), and the lamb shoulder confit. The confit was outstanding, served over a bed of mash with some sap peas and carrots. Nice treacle tart. Excellent time. read more

This is said to be the 3rd oldest pub in England built in 1106. Refurbished in 2006, the interior is contemporary but retains many original features. The food is pretty good - I expecially like the Omelette Arnold Bennett (£7.95). The Gammon steak is also good (£10.95) and the burger is ok - but a bit dry and over-cooked (£9.45). Service is polite and pretty quick but you set the pace - if you dawdle over ordering, you may be in for a bit of a wait. Reasonably priced and pretty good food for your money. The real selling point is the pub/building itself. Worth a visit. read more

I think I ate here years ago when I was assigned to an office near Heathrow by my employer. I remember it as pretty good. Tonight's meal didn't live up to my memory. I ordered the venison. It came, and had no pink at all. It was dry and tough. (I would have pointed it out to the staff, but I had a time crunch and couldn't afford to re-order a main.) If I wanted to go to an area pub again, I'd go to the Pheasant instead, where the food was significantly better. read more

Nice cosy pub/restaurant. The food is great, portion sizes are good and reasonably priced. The menu is not that extensive but is varied. Fish meat and veggie stuff. More of a restaurant than a drinking pub.It's not on the flight path so it's not too noisy. Can be booked via toptable.com so that's an advantage. Nice large car park at the rear. read more

Had an evening meal and stayed overnight at the Ostrich Inn before flying out from Heathrow, it's an ideal location. The room we had was lovely, clean, comfortable, had everything we needed. Plenty of parking, free WiFi. The steak meal we had was delicious. We were leaving early before breakfast would be served the following morning and were given a breakfast bar & porridge pot as an alternative. read more

Heard great things about the place from a colleague so I decided to check it out for dinner. I was staying by Heathrow for work and figured this would be somewhere fun to get a bite to eat considering my stay was so short and I couldn't make it to the city. I walked in BY MYSELF at 7:30pm and the owner told me he couldn't seat one person for dinner. Now I would understand if the place was packed... IT WAS BARELY HALF FULL. There were even spots at the bar. Anyway, I tried to reason with the guy but he was having none of it. I'm sure the place is great if the staff actually decide to seat you, but I didn't even get that far, hence my rating. read more
