I had a 1:00pm appointment to meet with Dr Houlahan for the first time, which I was squeezing into…read moremy lunch hour. With it being a new patient meeting, I arrived the customary 10 minutes early to answer any questions or fill out any necessary paperwork. After a very short wait, I was seen by... someone. A male -- a nurse, perhaps? -- and they were fine. I never remember what the various blood pressure readings mean and he was friendly enough to explain the results for me. I was told the doctor was currently seeing another patient, but I was next. I wait and thumb through a TV Guide I brought in from the waiting room. I wait. I wait some more. At 1:38pm, after reading through all the previews of the new upcoming Fall shows on TV, I finally had to give because I was already going to be late returning to work. In a way, this review is not necessarily indicative of Dr Houlahan's knowledge or ability -- he could be the greatest doctor in the world -- but I will never know because leaving a patient waiting for nearly 40 minutes without having someone -- anyone -- check in with a status is unacceptable in my books. I've always had good luck at the Dreyer Medical Clinic until today, so this review is not a reflection on it (my wife, who sees a different doctor in the same office (Dr. Jennifer Crane) absolutely LOVES her!), so take it for what you will. I understand doctors get busy, but it is extremely disappointing and frustrating when you schedule an appointment -- one that will probably take 20 minutes -- weeks in advance and wait for twice as long as your appointment will probably take without being seen or checked up on. Bad form.

Every time I try to call in to talk to my doctors office it's a horrible feeling. You are told…read morethat they have "protocols in place and you or your issues are not important enough to be transferred to on of the nurses" so unless you are dying, you have to actually go there to get medical service or a question answered!!

This actually doesn't specifically go for this location but it would be a rather lot of copy and…read morepasting to post on EVERY Dreyer location on how inadequate they are and how many mistakes they make on various visits I've had to have. I never thought dealing with a clinic would be such a difficult task. Not only that but i have never had such rude workers before. Now not all the workers are horrible. Some of them were very nice to me through my surgery I had. Oh wait that was Dreyer workers I forgot that was actual hospital workers. They are the least helpful people I have ever met and not to mention so unorganized they have messed up my information several times and also misdiagnosed me twice. I have also had several emails ignored, I have had people who don't know information they should I've had to call and be transferred to explain my story about 5 times, I've been told to call them to find out when I do call them that they have no notes on why I needed to call them so they don't tell me anything to call me again and have to call back again. To go in with an infection to be told I'm fine and don't have an infection, to come in a week later to have a different dr tell me I do indeed have an infection. To have them tell me they won't test my blood for what I asked them too. To have to call them and request them to test it to have them tell me "we can't do that unless it's approved by the dr" even though I asked them specifically for that blood test. They also don't explain what's wrong with you when your sick they just say "you have -" "it happens to some people" okay well why? You don't get any chance to ask questions because they rush you out of their so quickly. They aren't considerate of the people at all, maybe I don't understand the long shifts they work but seriously get your shit together! Especially get everyone on the same page you've got people telling me different stuff to making me wait forever to even get a drs appointment because you think I don't need to be seen. I most definitely will be switching drs that's for sure. It's sad because the drs some of them are really good while others not so much but it's the nurses attitudes that ruin it all. Especially whoever answers the phones they never know ANYTHING then transfer you to have you explain who you are and why you are calling to like 4 different people. I'm very disappointed to say the least. (Excuse the typos that may have occurred)

I love Chuck (in the most professional way possible)!…read more After my divorce and move to Chicago from Colorado I was really feeling overwhelmed with life, my kids, my new job: essentially everything in life was new. I was stressed out beyond belief and was referred to Chuck by my insurance company. The guy is a great counselor and a wonderful person. I was mostly expecting a lot of psychobabble from him, or some sort of silly "answering a question with a question" type of situation. I also half expected him to have a panacea-type resolution to all my issues. Instead what I found was an incredibly attentive listener who literally listened to me complain about my life for about 3 sessions. I'm LOL'ing as I re-read that. The guy doesn't interrupt, he listens and comprehends. When the "therapy" starts he makes you think back on what you said. The whole process is about working within your constraints, not what he was taught or thinks you should do. This approach was remarkable for me. I am long past the point of being stressed out about the changes that happened in my life, yet I still go to talk to Chuck about once a month. I genuinely like him. Overall (it's a tough review to write) I can't say enough good about Chuck Lederman. I feel like my life improved as a result of him cajoling me into being easier on myself by being tough on myself. I'm sure anyone with challenging life problems would find Chuck to be a wonderful advocate.
