Bar typical of a pretty boring town and nothing special about it. It has what's expected, as in basic booze and lame food options. Oswego Inn also has a bunch of questionable regulars. Mostly isn't too crowded even though it's a small place but when it does it's impossible to move around. The bartenders usually chat among the couple regulars and are slow. Has typical stuff found in a bar. It of course is expected that drinks are the best thing you can get. They have mostly basic booze and nothing interesting or unique. It's about $6 for a cocktail. These are okay. It was pretty watery the last time here. The food menu is even worse. It's filled with greasy crap. There's nothing vegetarian friendly except for potato chips and pretzels. It's $1 for a bag. The options could be a lot better and nothing is close to being healthy. Best to eat before coming. It has nothing good here except drinks. I grew up in Oswego and frequented this establishment for years before moving out of state. Our class reunion was coming up and I called to see if they would be kind enough to stock my domestic beer (nothing fancy) so when I'm there, I could enjoy getting together with all my old friends and drink my favorite beer. They did this for me in 2020 when we had about 25 people in our group, but today, I got the rudest, nastiest lady I have ever encountered. She actually began arguing with me as to why they should bring in a beer that they don't normally sell for one person. She refused to tell me who I could talk to or who the manager was. I get that she doesn't know me, but when my friends and I get together, we spend money and a good amount of it. I was not ready for this volatile person and was taken aback by her attitude. We've experienced some pretty seedy small town bars in our travels but this one was a pleasant surprise. The bartender/waitress, an older woman, was very friendly and provided great service. First, I love this place and I've never written a bad review anywhere. I will go back BUT if I see the bartender we had yesterday, 3/14, I'm leaving. Our glasses were empty way too long, which we get. However what irritated me was we had a menu out for a long time and when we flagged her down she abruptly said the kitchen's closed, it's 3pm. It was 3:01. 3:01! I get the service industry, totally. I've been there, but there are things she could've said: an apology for one. Maybe I'll check to see. A bag of chips. Something. We left. We went to Bristol Tap and had an amazing and fun afternoon. Great staff there! Great burgers! I went here during Oswego's Prairie Days so I felt pretty welcome due to the fact that there was a large crowd. The bartenders were courteous and pretty quick despite being busy. I feel like if I did go here on a random night it'd probably be a lot like how the other reviewer described..it's a small bar with no frills and seems like it's usually inhabited by regulars from the town of Oswego. I stopped in with a few girlfriends after attending a Paint Night party next door. This place is definitely a local, hometown bar; we got a few stares when we first walked in. We moved here a year ago. Anxious to try out the local places my husband and I visited quite a few in the area. Our first experience with Oswego Inn was fun. We stopped in for lunch. We loved the old bar feel to it. A bit later we stopped in one evening. Yes, when the door opened everyone stopped talking and turned and looked at us. Uncomfortable, yes, but we decided to stay. We ended up having fun and the bartender was friendly. We continued to go in the evening for a few more times with the same experience. One time we stopped in and they were having a funeral for someone. The place was filled with pictures and flowers and all the tables were taken up with food trays out for the people attending the funeral. We felt very uncomfortable and only stayed for one drink. Then another night we were coming home from somewhere else and we decided to stop for one. It was 10:30. We walked up to the door and the door was locked despite the fact that the lights were on and it was, after all, 10:30. We looked in the window and there were two people at the bar with one bartender. They all turned to look at us and shouted, "We're closed!" With that the outside lights went off. That was the last time. Apparently you need to know the secret handshake to sit on a stool that is repaired with vinyl tape that sticks to your pants. We have stuck with Nick & Pat's on Orchard. We always feel welcome there and the staff and other patrons are very friendly. It's a shame that some businesses don't care about business. Don't go here unless you want to feel uninvited and unwelcome. I've lived in the area for 10 years and had gone there a few times for a beer or two. The last time I went there with a few people, we walked in and felt like the needle on the record scratched. Everyone turned and stared us down until after one beer, we high-tailed it out of there.
