I liked the email info I got when I booked it. Check in process was easy but it is very strongly scented at reception. There are coat racks and shoe shelves, then you enter the area with lockers and change stalls with a few washrooms. The waiting area and sauna are big and the sound/breathwork class with aromatherapy was great. The showers were clean and cold plunge was freezing! I only lasted max. 15 seconds but hubby lasted the entire 2 minutes each time. Although it is quite clean I do not like that we can't wear indoor flip flops. As a germ phobe that was hard to deal with. I would suggest a more personalized guide experience for the first visit:) read more

I had heard about this place before but wasn't really sure what to expect. I'm very into spa and zen like experiences, so when I was given the opportunity for a free first timers class through Yelp I jumped at the chance to try it out. I'm so glad I tried it because I was blown away with the experience and cannot wait to come back (I've already been recruiting friends to come do a class with me). Initially I thought I'd try one of the quiet time/free periods. But I am glad that I opted to try the Guided Awakening class with Diedre. Booking is easy online or on the Othership App. It was a little hard to find the building, but fortunately there are signs. The entrance is down a small escalator. When you go in, the lighting is dim and calming. They give you 2 towels, a wrist band and explain the space. The changeroom area is co-ed, but they have bathrooms and change rooms you can lock. There are also lockers that are easy to use as well. The staff come in and routinely clean the shared space as well. After you get changed into your bathing suit, you walk (barefoot) to a small amphitheatre style waiting area with comfy seating. There is tea and water (cold and hot) to enjoy. The instructors come in and explain the class, and then you head into the sauna. I absolutely loved Diedre and the Awakening class. I love the music, I love the way they smash the aromatherapy snowballs and I love the spirituality of the class. 20 minutes in the sauna and then we head into the ice bath. I had never done an ice bath before and have wanted to try. I was able to do about 1 minute of the 2, but absolutely love it and the encouragement from Diedre. Back into the sauna with some more empowerment and sharing. And then free time. I couldn't believe the change in mindset and energy I had after the 75 minute class. Diedre told me about the 2 week unlimited trial that I think I'll check out. It's only $100 and you can go to as many classes as you want so you can try them all! read more

Attended Othership for the second time! I am super happy once again with how the experience was. The staff there is always super caring and do an amazing job looking after everyone. I went for the free flow class on a busy Sunday. The class was 100% full which made me a bit worried. However, I never felt that it was too crowded. The sauna to ice bath experience is always so wonderful there. Super proud of myself for being able to do the ice bath with no problem this time around haha. What an experience this was! Always heard of Othership from my friends who are frequent go-ers so came to check it out for myself as well. I kept an open mind walking into this experience as I knew it was going to be something that is very mental to go into the cold plunges. I also don't necessarily enjoy heat, so the sauna part also was not very enticing to me either, but I wanted to fully experience it and see for myself. Upon entering the front doors, I already felt like place was very zen. The reception area was dimly lit and was greeted promptly after entering. We got two towels each and a wristband to symbolize we're first timers. Got the walk through about how it works and you're free to do the sauna and cold plunge as you wish. The entire facility is unisex. The only complaint I have from the experience is that you can't wear slippers/ indoor shoes anywhere in the facility unless they are purchased from Othership themselves. So it made going to the washroom kind of disgusting. Just imagining people's bare feet stepping into the washroom and then going into the cold plunge - yikes. Now onto the experience. Wow, what an experience it was! We did the sauna part first for about 8-10 minutes and when we mustered up the courage for the cold plunge, we took a quick shower before going for our dip. Super glad that there was someone there to walk us through the entirety of the 2 minutes. Don't think I would have lasted if he wasn't there to talk us through our breathing and thoughts. The cold plunge is definitely painful for a first timer, but also such a great experience. You can go in with another friend into the same tub if you'd like. Coming out of the plunge, my feet were very frozen so was instructed to just take it easy and sit by the tub for a bit while it thaws out - great tip! You just keep going back and forth from the sauna to the ice baths as many times as you'd like. The sauna part was a little loud since everyone is chatting with their friends - I didn't mind this at all. There's unlimited tea for you to drink if that's something you're into. I loved their towel system as well, you sit on your towel in the sauna and hang your towel that has numbers on the top, so that you remember which towel is yours. Coming out of this entire experience I felt very relaxed and exhilarated. Left with a little gift from Othership as well for a first timer. Othership just opened and it has put Yorkville back on the map for me! I've been going to their original location on Adelaide for a few months, and I am happy to see them grow. Othership Yorkville in every element is twice as big (locker room size, sauna size , number of ice baths, etc.) but delivers the same authentic transformative experience. The sauna is massive with gorgeous lighting soft lighting. It's always amazing to be a room full of people breathing intentionally together. The ice bath room is much more calming than their Adelaide location. It appears the acoustics and size of the overall facility allows less sound to carry to the ice baths. This is important because I need to focus on my breathing when in the cold plunge. The locker room is enormously roomier than their Adelaide location. I'm also glad they got better built in locks at this location. And for those who don't know, these are co-ed (aka gender neutral) locker rooms. You can change in little changing rooms or the bathrooms. They offer the same sessions - classes, free flows and socials. I love that between the two locations there's more spots available, and I can more easily join a class last minute. I don't like booking a week in advance, as I can't necessarily predict when I'll need a self care session. Of course, I'm sure these classes are going to fill up. All of this being said, sometimes it can overwhelming being in a room with so many people (64 people!), and in such a large facility. This has made me appreciate their smaller more intimate Adelaide location, and I will definitely attend both locations. They have some nice into deals, so try a variety of session types (class, free flow and social.) I would highly recommend Ashley's Sound Immersion class. read more

Update: The business got back to me and gave me a refund for the negative experience. They wanted to speak to me on the phone too but I didn't arrange it. I went back for an off peak hour experience and it was much better because well, not many people were there. It is not sustainable for me though- there is no way that I would be able to do an off peak time experience on a regular basis. I appreciated the call back and the refund. They did what they said they would. I would still appreciate a change to the overall cap of people. Currently, it is 64 people for a guided class, 53 or so for a social, and 33 or so for the off peak hour, free flow- but then at every 30 minutes there is a timed entry so that on weekends you could have 60 people there at a time. When I was there today, there was about 25 people and it felt normal. The noise wasn't so horrible, though I wore ear plugs. I wasn't fighting for a spot to change in the narrow hallways of the change room. read more

BOTTOM LINE: A fantastic and rejuvenating experience; definitely recommend buying a package and/or membership (look for holiday promos!) to make it more cost-effective. I've been going to Inward for a while and loved it (the owners' OG developmental into the whole IR sauna / cold plunge scene)! But for me, it was always a bit challenging to get to, and although I loved the privacy of it, I also didn't love going through the whole setup (I made a spreadsheet to remind me what all the knobs and buttons do!). When the Othership Adelaide site opened, it always felt super crammed and I stayed away, but now, enter the Yorkville location, with a bigger sauna, and more importantly, twice as many cold baths (8, I believe, each can hold up to two people), I think most of the criticisms have been addressed! The staff are very friendly, and although sometimes I find the "scene" just a bit too much in its effusive positivity, it's all good here. They hold several guided classes per day, and these often fill up (the sauna can accommodate up to 64 people!). They're 75 minutes in length and in practice you get two cycles of sauna / cold plunge. I personally prefer going to the 2-hour "social" times usually starting in the late evening, where you can do your own thing at your own pace. It's a great thing to do on your own or with a group of friends. They provide tea and water, so you don't need to bring your own water bottle. There's a "tea room" meant for more communal socializing, and it's a good way to take a break between your cycles. A word of warning for those wanting silence, you will not get it here; in fact, they encourage more open socializing with your peers, though, of course, you're never obligated to. As long as your okay with background chatter, you do you. My one main criticism, and I'm not sure there's really a fixable solution given the limited layout of the place, is that due to one unisex change room, there can be a pretty big bottle neck in accessing the 10-15 "changing closets" within it when a full class of 60+ people are leaving, and a full class of 60+ people are getting in. If there were divided change rooms, then you could just change in the open, and be in-and-out in a jiffy. read more

Get out of your comfort zone in 2024. All aboard the Othership, a space for transformation and resilience. This location in Yorkville is relatively new. Challenge yourself by cycling between hot saunas and ice plunges through either freeflow journeys or guided classes. Take time to connect with your body and you'll realize you're capable of more than you think. We did the self guided journey to go at our own pace, as we don't go to saunas or cold plunges too often. The saunas go from 60-100 degrees Celsius, with more heat in the higher seating areas. Sometimes they come in to put extra bursts of scents into the room which also raise the heat a little too. Ice baths are 0-4 Celsius, and they recommend to push for 2 minutes with guided breathwork. It was my first time so I had to take a break, but I'm still proud of myself for the progress! *Make sure not to push yourself too hard, know when your body tells you to take a break and remember to stay hydrated! Be cognizant of your limits and go at your own pace. The vibe was super relaxing and chill and it's actually a great way to catch up with a friend while you are in the sauna or common seating areas! read more

First time here, and such an amazing experience! I came with a group of girls from a professional network, Monday Girl. There was about 50 of us. We did a guided class in the sauna called "Reset" it was absolutely amazing. The class was perfect length, led by the co-founder who took us through how to breath, with wonderful scents from scented ice thrown onto the hot rocks. It was so relaxing. Then we were guided for two minutes in the ice baths, and this was my first time doing an ice bath! I continued to rave about my experience here. I felt so great, my body so relaxed and recovered after. It truly was such a wonderful experience and the aesthetic of the place is beautiful and always clean.
