We all enjoyed facials, body scrubs, and RMT massages , everyone left feeling relaxed and refreshed. The spa itself is luxurious, serene, and perfect for group celebrations. Rather than buy each other something for our birthdays that we don't need, Gord and I treat each other to treatments at a spa. Saturday afternoon we went to Novo Spa for my birthday ... we'd never been there before. After we changed into our robes, Gord and I met up in the couples' lounge. There was a room down the hall if you wanted tea, cookies or apples. The first thing we did was have a couple's hot stone massage. We've had a hot stone massage once before and it wasn't done right ... the stones were wet and drippy. This time it was awesome ... Irena, my massage therapist, spent a lot of time in my lower back (it's been burning lately) and the hot stones added to the experience. Next up was a pedicure. I chose Opi's Purple with a Purpose for my toes. Lovepreet did my pedicure and did a great job. We went back to the lounge afterwards to relax and let our toes dry. It was a very nice experience. I decided this year that instead of getting gifts (a physical gift) for D, I would get him something else - more like an experience. And since this past year has been absolutely non-stop, it would be nice to be able to just rest and relax. Therefore, a spa experience would be an awesome idea. I have not been here before but the pictures and choices for couples spa services was good. We tried the Couple's Paradise treatment. Overall the entire experience from the moment we checked in was great. The ladies were all friendly and professional. We were given a brief instruction when they gave use the keys to our lockers. I have to say we arrived early and thought we would have tried out their sauna (which is in the change rooms) but we ended up just chilling in the lounge. There is a women's lounge, and a men and couple's lounge. I have to say I really enjoyed just chilling in the lounge - the environment is very relaxing. The lounge chairs were comfortable, the room was decorated in a way that was totally zen, and the spa music combined was a nice environment just to lie there and let your stress melt away. The Couple's Paradise treatment included an aromatherapy massage (you get to pick which essential oils to use), Chinese tea, a short foot soak and massage, and a shower in the color therapy steam and shower. To be honest, I think the best part of the treatment was the massage - although I would have liked a deeper tension from the masseuse (I think I am just too use to the RMT and Korean massages that is more of a deep tissue massage). The foot soak and the foot massage was okay - although I think I was expecting more of a foot massage like the ones I would get at Asian/Chinese places where it was more of a deep tissue foot massage. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and I think I can vouch for D as well that he had enjoyed the experience. Next time, I would like to try out the facial treatments. read more

Nope. Horrific customer service. Tried to make an appointment, I emailed them. They gave me a time slot that was available, I agreed since it worked for me and provided them with my credit card info. Did not hear anything after. To confirm, the next day I sent them an email inquiring. They got back to me with this: "Good morning, my name, unfortunately, at the time of the booking the spot had been reserved". ........But you told me it was free? And I literally sent an email with my credit card information 1 minute after your email informing me that the slot was free? Are you telling me the slot got booked in that one minute window? I feel like I'm that episode of Seinfeld with the car reservation, where he makes a reservation, goes to get the car, only to be told that they ran out of cars. Jerry: "But the reservation keeps the car here"; Lady at the counter: "I know why we have reservations"; Jerry: "I don't think you do". Well, folks, I don't think Novo Spa knows either. We had the loveliest morning at Novo Spa - I can't wait to go back! Me and my mother in law did the Novo Recharge treatment, which includes a massage, and a manicure and pedicure. Our experience was amazing, right from the beginning! The staff brought us to the change room and showed us our lockers. We changed into our robes and then went to the women's lounge to wait for our massages. I actually love the atmosphere in the spa. It's really quiet, dark and relaxing. It's a tad run down and outdated, but it didn't turn me off too much. There is infused water, some small snacks and the staff also brought us tea. The massage was absolutely fantastic - way better than some of the massages I've had in a spa before. The masseuse really tried to work out my knots in my shoulders and back, but also hit everywhere. It was a legitimate therapeutic massage. Our manis and pedis were pretty good - probably not the best that I had in terms of the polish job, but the products used were really nice. The aesthetician used this coconut, sugary amazing scrub, and I was living for it. The biggest problem was that we had to get dressed after getting our nails done, so we messed up our polish a bit. However, they touched up our polish without issue. Overall, it was a super relaxing morning and I will definitely be back. read more

Some of my girlfriends and I came here for the Ladies Spa Day. You get a facial, a massage, lunch and a mani-pedi. 3 hours and 45 minutes of fun for just under $400. Two of us started at 11am, and our other friend started at 12pm b/c she didn't want a facial. We made sure to book together so that we could enjoy lunch and our mani-pedis together. When I arrived, I was handed a lunch sheet that had a list of salads, sandwiches and smoothies, each under separate headings. I was told to pick my 1st and 2nd choice and not to worry about the prices. Based on my experiences at other spas that offer 3 courses, I was under the impression I pick a salad, sandwich and smoothie. I listed my first and second choice for each and handed my form in. After my first two services, I was told to wait in the lounge and someone would come get me for lunch. I waited for about 15 minutes and was surprised my friends hadn't come out yet so I went to go look for them. Turns out they had been in the lunch room and were waiting for me. All of our food had come and they were told that they had to eat without me b/c we had our mani-pedis next. They told one of the people who worked there that I had gone for my massage first so I should be done. They gave her my name so she could find out where I was. The worker came back and asked me why I didn't answer her when she came into the lounge and asked "who was with Sarah?" I told her that I thought she was coming in to find her next client named "Sarah" as that was how the other RMTs etc. would come in and say the name of who they're looking for. She was talking in a quiet "spa" voice too so I didn't catch every word. It would have made more sense if she came in and asked for me by name rather than by the name of the RMT I just had b/c I didn't even realize what her name was until I paid my bill. Anyway, whatever, so I was a few minutes late to lunch. No big deal. Until we ate the salads and realized we weren't getting sandwiches as we were supposed to only pick one thing from the list. Well I got the salad I choose as my first choice, and I got the smoothie I wanted as my first choice...so obviously someone had read the sheet and had seen that I wrote "1" next to a salad, a sandwich and a smoothie...so why hadn't anyone told me I filled the form out correctly to find out which one item I wanted? We were told that we would probably be charged for the extra food b/c it wasn't included. We called the manager over and voiced our concerns: 1) Not having clear instructions on the lunch form and 2) Booking our lunches together and then missing most of it b/c I was told to wait in the lounge while they were in the lunch room. I was overly impressed with her reaction. Not only did she apologize and offer to get us sandwiches and we could have them during our mani-pedis, but she immediately offered all of us 50% off our treatments. She indicated that she would ensure the lunch instructions are made clear when people arrive, but also that they were going to update the included lunch form so that it was clear on the form. She went above and beyond to rectify what were somewhat minor issues. I was only hoping we would still get the sandwich and smoothie for free, and then she threw in the discount as well. I had my facial with Yoko. She spoke to me about my skin and any problems I had been having and explained the steps of the facial. I enjoyed the facial, and my skin felt great afterwards. Sarah Joy did my massage. I was very happy with the massage as she released a lot of my tension. I met with Yoko again to do my mani-pedi. Again, I was happy with her services and my nails looked great. I wouldn't come here for a spa DAY for a few reasons: -The food isn't made on site, and is in fact just picked up from Whole Foods. There aren't many choices, and it's essentially just an overpriced boxed lunch. Plus the lunch room is just a dim lit glassed in room in the middle of the hallway where the treatment rooms are. -There is nowhere to just lounge and relax. The lounge just has 4 chaises that people sit on while they wait for their treatment. No steam room, hot-tub or pool. There's a small sauna in the women's change room, but it's hardly the relaxing spa lounge area. That being said, I would consider coming back here for individual treatments. I was happy with both Yoko's and Sarah Joy's services and although we did have some issues, the manager was incredibly responsive. She listened to our issues, fixed the problems, offered us discounts and apologized profusely. read more

I'm not usually one to splurge on spa services - however, the few times I do get them, I often wish I'd do it more often. I went to Novo for a pedicure (a gift from a friend) and I have to say my feet feel wonderful right now! They're soft and clean and there's no more dry skin. Plus, my nails look absolutely perfect! Even when I look close up, there's no mistake to be seen. But services at Novo aren't cheap. This pedicure cost $55 without tip, which by industry standards is fairly pricey. However, my pedicure lasted an hour and a half and I can't say I've ever felt so great after a service. The massage chairs are great, and you get to choose your colour (they have a ton, I choose a blood red from OPI's new Fall line) and then sit back relax and enjoy the treatment. I usually frequent less expensive Asian establishments and they do a good job, but its nothing compared to the pedicure at Novo. You might not be able to do it all the time, but I recommend you visit Nova once, just for the experience! read more

I quite enjoyed novo spa despite having low expectations due to other yelp reviews. My husband and I came for the taste of heaven treatment. This included a 60 minutes couples massage, 15 minute foot scrub and massage, and a couples shower for 20 minutes in the massage room. The total of this was $300. You can claim the 60 minute massage if you have extended health benefits. I called in to book the appointment. The staff was friendly. They took my credit card info to reserve the spot. They said they were going to call to confirm two days before the massage, but didn't. Only mistake, I felt they made. There's no parking on the premise, but there's plenty of street parking. Go 20 minutes earlier so you can fill out the form, change into your robe and sandals and hang out in the lounge before heading into your massage. They will provide you with a lock and locker. You can try the sauna out before going to the massage as well in the change room. I personally didn't like the sauna because it wasn't hot enough. We went into the couples room and the RMT showed us how to use the couples shower. It doubles as a steam room so it's pretty cool. The RMTs asked us what we wanted to focus on and told us if we didn't want foot scrubs, we can get a scalp massage instead. We both opted for the foot rub. The massage was pretty good. They followed our instructions and the pressure was good. After we had our treatment, we hung out in the lounge. They provided tea, oatmeal cookies, apples, trail mix, and wasabi beans. We hung out and read a little before heading to the sauna in our respective changing rooms. The entire experience took about 2.5 hours. This place reminded me of elmwood but minus the water therapy treatments. I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind coming back. The cost is similar to elmwood. read more

We went here for bachelorette spa day, and we love it! We got to the place a bit late, so we only had 45 mins of massage. However, they are really nice and only charge us the 45 mins of service. After massage, we relax in the women's lounge and then moved to the tea room to chat and enjoy their tea + snack. And after that, we finished our spa day with relaxing chat in color steam room. They only have 1 shower room, so make sure you are prepared when you come with big groups. However, overall it was a great and relaxing experience. I would defnitely come back again! read more

I've used their services occasionally and been happy. However, since they recently spoiled a surprise gift, I won't be returning. I had arranged a couple's package as a Valentine's Day surprise and made the mistake of telling them my partner's name when I booked. They simply said they wanted to write down the names so they knew who to expect. Fair enough. But a week before the appointment, my partner called to book an appointment for herself and the receptionist volunteered the information that she was coming in soon for a couple's package treatment. Thus, spoiling the surprise gift. I guess they looked up her client information and attached my booking to her as well, without saying this to me. I spoke to the manager to complain about this; however (1) they didn't call me back after my first message and (2) two days later, when I tried again and called back, they didn't see any problem with what happened. I made an appointment for gel mani pedi. Got to the spa to find they don't do gel pedi! Ok. I'll get a regular pedi and gel mani. They refuse to do my pedi first! As we all know you need time to dry esp with now a regular pedi. Why wouldn't they do do it first ? Don't know. There were plenty of chairs open. I didn't have time to wait for the dry time as she insisted to do nails first so I had to cancel pedi.. So I had a gel mani which is fair(she really could not get the "scoval " concept. Either square or oval. I filed my own nails in the end Went to the desk...they really could have cared less and didn't try to work anything out. So. My boyfriend and I had the luxury for two couples package. The overall experience was fantastic and very enjoyable. We arrived, got changed into our bathrobes, hopped into the sauna for about 10 minutes, and then relaxed in the couples lounge with hot tea and biscuits until our RMTs got us. We absolutely loved our massages from Sarah and Kelly. My boyfriend had tons of knots in his back, and Sarah did a phenomenal job at getting through each knot. Kelly gave me a really nice relaxing massage, which is what I really enjoyed most, I felt at bliss during the entire 60 min massage. After the massages, they instructed us on how to use the jet shower. While we really appreciated that they took the time to explain how to use it, as it was a pretty complicated jet shower and it made our experience so much better, we still struggled with trying to make the other settings work. I'm convinced that the jet shower only had three working settings , and the majority of the jets were broken. My friend who also tried the jet shower there in March 2013 (8 months before my visit) commented to me that it wasn't fully functional. It was a bit of a disappointment, as I was really excited to use it and hopeful that they'd fix it by now. Nonetheless, the remainder of the package was fantastic. We enjoyed two glasses of sparkling wine, chocolates and a rose in our bathrobes in the private lounge. We were both so relaxed, and truly felt like mush (in a good way). I pride myself on reporting on the good, the good-er, and the best. Of course, we all know that there is also the ugly and bad. In my search for a new place to get RMTs, my dearest friend suggested Novo. This "premier spa in Yorkville" had so much promise. They even recommended we come early to take advantage of their "Aroma Color Therapy Sauna". Cool right? So not. Our massages were booked for a Sunday afternoon and save and except the treatment, it was disappointing. I took issue with their "Aroma Color Therapy Sauna". Talk about false advertising, this complimentary service is a 3' x 2' box with coloured christmas lights. Huh. Upon check-out the RMTs mixed my friend and I up and we consequently didn't have the right therapist on our receipts. The receptionist tried to rectify the mistake by whiting out the first name (because she somehow concluded my friend and I had the same last name?!?!). When I advised her that an insurer would not accept a whited out receipt, she seemed confused. After a brief pause, she told me that my therapist was in tomorrow and they would mail me a correct receipt. I told her that I would just pick it up that afternoon. She then asked me to call and ask them to do that. Ask who? Didn't I just ask her? This painstackingly annoying exchange could have been avoided if staff communicated. I saw my RMT head out as I came up to the counter. Mistakes happen, but it's how they're handled that determines the professionalism of any establishment. I called a few days later to confirm my receipt was ready - that's how much faith I had in the competency of the staff. And my doubt was not misplaced. The guy stated he no idea what I was talking about. He put me on hold only to come back and tell me that there was no record of me having seen the massage therapist I indicated. I told him that the mistake had obviously not been rectified but that I would leave it to him to figure it out. He told me I could pick my receipt up tomorrow. How much would you like to bet that when I go in tomorrow, it won't be ready. Fooey! Update: I went in and it was ready. Of course it took the girl (same one I saw Sunday) some time to figure out who I was and what I was talking about. I guess I have a forgetable face. read more

This spa might not be the fanciest spa in the city, but I had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon here. We had an afternoon appointment for a couples spa treatment. The Luxury for Two is an hour and a half treatment with an RMT for $278. Upon arrival we were whisked away to the change rooms. The ladies change room is a simple small space. They showed me my locker and provided me with slippers. No complaints about the robe or slippers. =P I do wish that there was more seating in the change area. There were a few chairs... that's about it! The shower facilities are basic... as in there is a single shower stall. It was clean and equipped with liquid soap and shampoo. I hopped into the dry sauna for a little bit. It was enjoyable and it had cute ceiling lights. I wandered into the waiting area and while waiting for my date, I helped myself to some tea and chocolate chip cookies. They have loose leaf tea from the Tea Emporium and they poured me some strawberry infused water. When it was time for the massage, we were warmly greeted by our RMTs. The massage therapists were all smiles! The Luxury Couple's Suite is probably the size of two small massage rooms. There were two massage tables set up in the center of the room. The right side of the room had a small private seating area and the colour therapy shower was at the back of the room. The 60 minute massage didn't disappoint! I really liked my RMT. They use a minty massage oil and place warm towels on your feet and eyes. When your massage is done, they leave you with two glasses of champagne, a plate of truffles, and a beautiful long stem rose. 30 minutes isn't a whole lot of time to enjoy... the couples shower and finish your sweets! So, use your time wisely. Anyways, the shower isn't huge but still fun! I liked changing the colour of the lights! It's like a therapeutic disco shower. You are able to choose water from the shower head, rain shower, or surrounding water jets. They politely knocked on the door when our time was up. We were moved to the couples lounge to relax, have more tea and finish our chocolates. They couples lounge was the mens lounge. I think we were seated there because it was empty and more private. Overall, we had a very nice experience here. Everything was super clean and the service was great! It's a nice spa and it seems comfortable for straight men who are working their way up to weekend warrior treatments. For the price point, I was happy with Novo. :D read more

We got a couple's package called "Taste of Heaven", which included 60 min RMT massages, 15 min Foot spa, and 20 min couples shower, with access to the colour sauna. After the whole experience I think that this is not a romantic place to come with your opposite sex partner. It looked good for those who went with their bestie tho. The front desk crew was really friendly and welcoming. After filling some forms we were taken on a tour. We passed through the couples' lounge, the complementary tea room, the women's lounge, the men's washroom (and that was was where my husby was directed to put the rope and enjoy the sauna). So the 20 min previous to the treatment we were separated... And been together hanging out in the couples lounge, would've implied laying down wearing a robe reading magazines... Lame.... When our therapists arrived we were taken to a different room with a spaceship kind of capsule (the infamous couple's shower), our two massage tables, and a living room. They explained us how the shower worked, and they gave us space to put ourselves ready to be rubbed. The massage and the foot spa were nice, long enough, relaxing and pleasant. However, operating the shower was a nightmare... A single jet splashing my eye; cold water falling from the ceiling; frustrating turnings, pushings, and the thought of "some written instructions would've been great", deviated on us saying F... this shower. I have been to Novo Spa on a couple of occasions without complaints. Both times I got a RMT massage which was really good. I say A-Ok because the massages are nice, and the price is right, but it is not as atmospheric as other spas. Luckily, both times I went was after 5pm, which I guess is not a popular hour. On both occasions It was like I was only one there. Another Yelper mentioned the robes, which are GIGANTIC for tiny people, and Crocs for your feet. Wearing these you get to lumber through the dark hallways to the relaxation area and wait for your RMT. The changeroom is nice, the products are nice, the sauna is nice, the teas are nice. Nothing is overwhelmingly mind blowing.. its all just fine. This is definitely not a fancy spa, and I don't think it claims to be one. The Massages are good, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for the location and the hours work into my schedule. You can usually get an appointment within the same or next day which I like. This is more of a "get a massage" place and less of a "spend a day at the spa" place. My SO (a man) enjoys going here as well. Its man-comfortable I assume because of its un-fanciness. I think hearing ambient birds chirping in the waiting room might just terrify him. The only word that comes to mind to describe this day spa is 'decent'. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was alright. But the hot stone massage was mediocre, though appreciated as desperately needed. Got a couple's suite and there were no extra touches (champagne, etc) as mentioned by other patrons. My main grievance is that the saunas are in the changing rooms and tiny at that. This means the "couple experience" cannot be extended to the post-massage, sauna relaxation time. This was sorely missed as other Toronto day spas do have roomy co-ed saunas that cater to couples and pairs/friends. Given the Yorkville location (and price tag), I was disappointed. Wouldn't return to Novo unless unable to get pencilled in at more preferred spas. read more

I still really like this place, even though with Yelp I tend to like trying something new each time. Today I came for a massage, it was in the middle of the day, and a great escape for a few hours. Its like getting the place to your self, there were people there, I could tell but I never saw them. However, i can see how it would be crowded during the weekend. It's very no frills, but serene and has all the minimal amenities. Come early, and you can chill in the Sauna. They give you a robe in the locker and some comfy slippers are you get ready. There is tea available in the small glass room, which you can bring to the Lounge area with nice comfy chairs. I spent a good half hour there before and after my treatment reading. It was really relaxing. The RMT massage was good with Irina. She had a sturdy pressure but gentle for a spa. I could have asked her to press harder, but I didn't. She also gave me some good advice about how to get rid of tension. I've had a similar good experience with other RMTs here. The only sucky thing is that booking a 60 mins massage, you really only get about 50mins or less. She gets you at your appointment time, then after chatting and getting read, it's only after your treatment starts. Would suggest getting there early so that you can maximize that time. --- Edit: I've seen so many negative reviews, I feel like I have to defend. I only come here for massages, which I like a lot - the serene setting, tea, and sauna (if it were working). Don't come here for any salon type things like nails or waxing, they aren't experts, nor are they required to be. My biggest complaint, is that when I come here in the middle of the day, it's to relax and sit in quiet. Instead, the last few times I have come here and been in the presence of some loud talking women that total ruins my reason for the visit. Please be courteous and lower your voice. My husband and I decided to get couples massage there as a part of our anniversary celebration. We bought "Taste of Heaven" package for 2, if I recall correctly, it was about $300 and included body massage, foot massage, and couples shower. The place looks nice, but we had to wait for 15 min until massage therapists showed up (I guess they were running late with previous clients) and they ended body massage 10 min earlier (we didn't say anything as we were in celebratory mood). Body massage was quite mediocre, it was too soft even though we both asked for harder massage. My massage was great, the masseuse was wonderful. The spa though....not so much. They have a separate room for refreshments that honestly feels like a kitchen in an office because people were talking loudly and it was quite noisy...its the same room you would have your spa lunch in if you ordered one. They had a selection of teas and thats about it....where are the sesame sticks or banana chips? Then the relaxation room is a set of chairs all in a row facing the door...not so awesome...kind of sterile over all in the spa. M'eh. Based on online reviews, I had high expectations for this spa. Given the higher cost, I was surprised that the treatment rooms and lounge were basement level. The website made the colour therapy steam room sound really awesome, but it was just a two-person sauna with coloured lights. A bit of a let-down. While I was waiting for my massage, the therapist found me in the treatment room and asked if I would mind waiting an additional fifteen minutes because her current client had been late. Went for a couples massage found the massage 'ok'. Treatment wasn't consistent did a technique on one side she didnt do on the other side even though she was RMT. The lounge itself only had room for 2 other couples. My husband had to stand and wait for our treatments no place to sit and enjoy! super small sauna only room for 2 people. If you have been to Stillwater or Ritz Carlton dont come here you will be disappointed. Also who serves peanuts in a lounge and wasabi peas. I looove Novo Spa! The first time was for RMT, and the second one is for the steam-bed therapy. And i must say, the steam-bed therapy is AMAZING. I recommend it for all of us who just need 75 minutes of your time in life all to your self. Steam bed therapy is a full body treatment. So before heading to the Falls, we decided to get a couples massage, mani and pedi. YES men get manis and pedis and I'm not ashamed of saying it. For the first time, they offered a larger sized bathrobe, which I was definitely please at having. So that was a bonus. Then we moved to the "men's lounge" which was more for couples. The couples massage area was called Jaipur. I had an East Indian woman and my gf had another woman. Generally when I've had couples massages, they were relatively close together. This time they were far apart. We both got the hot stone massage and liked our masseuses. Since I have tendinitis, I asked for some extra attention there. Karen was very good and relieving that area although I still felt a bit of pain. She was pretty good. Then manis and pedis were ok. I didn't have talkative estheticians but my gf had 1 person who did both. I felt that I kept on getting into their conversation. I guess I had more in common with that conversation, until I ended up asking why the Japanese esthetician had a Polish last name. That conversation is for another day...lol Novo has friendly staff and a pretty good environment, but the clientele was a different story. Decent place for spa treatments. 3.5 stars out of 5. My mom got me a gift certificate to this spa (must have been a Groupon deal), so I booked a massage. The spa offers all of the regular services: massages, facial treatments, hair services, waxing. Prices seem to be very reasonable (i.e. 60 min RMT = $99) especially for Yorkville. The relaxation room is nice, and they offer you a nice hot tea and cookies (although not healthy ones, I think they were PC brand) after your treatment. My RMT massage was very good. I didn't get the Aroma Colour sauna. The different colours are supposed to enhance my relaxation? I will need a better explanation the next time I go... Overall the space is small and concise, but very clean. I like that they have sulfate-free shampoo and body wash in the shower. The only thing is, something felt like it was missing. Maybe it was a little cold potentially clinical; not as intimate or relaxing like other spas? I can't put my finger on it!! However, I will say that when I went during the week and had a 4 pm appointment, there was hardly anyone there. So it was nice, in some ways, to have the place to myself. read more

Horrific experience at Novo Spa. This was supposed to be a super relaxing birthday spent at the spa and turned out to be the most unpleasant experience. DO NOT COME HERE! There are literally a million other more qualified spas in the city of Toronto. My boyfriend booked me a full day spa at this ridiculous establishment and even though the services were fine, the experience at the end ruined the whole day that was meant to be a treat. When my boyfriend booked he gave whoever took the reservation his credit card information, because this was a gift. When I go to hand in the keys, I was told that I had to pay for the bill. I inform the lady in reception that this is supposed to be a gift, she says it hasn't been paid for yet and tells me the price owed. I inform her that I heard my boyfriend give his cc info and she just couldn't be bothered to listen and just wanted to be paid the money. Not bothering to find a solution like call my bf that made the reservation, to get his cc info for the authorized payment, or call him to clarify the misunderstanding. Just totally rude with a horrific attitude that should not be working in the service industry. A bill over $500 and you don't have the decency to treat customers with respect. I will not be returning to this establishment and anyone reading this shouldn't either, do not waste your money, there are much better spas with actual good service all around the city. I called my boyfriend upset after the incident and he called the spa to rectify the situation and got hung up on, for a better idea on how customers are treated here. He tried calling back and no one picked up. To management the girl at reception that took my payment is the worst person to be working in the service industry, reconsider her employment as she's taking money away from your business. I'll be spreading the news to any and all friends and colleagues. Instead of leaving relaxed and calm after a full day at the spa I left agitated and upset, thanks Novo Spa and thank you for the garbage service at reception. read more

My friend and I treated ourselves to a spa day at Novo Spa. We each had a massage, a facial, and a mani-pedi. It was a spectacular day of pampering. Each treatment applied layer upon layer of relaxation with gentle caring and consideration of our every need. The facility was scrupulously clean. The staff very friendly and professional. My first visit to Toronto included booking some appointments at Novo. We were staying downtown and it seemed all the spas in the area were booked on Saturday and Sunday (my own fault for waiting too long), but it led me here so it all worked out. I had booked two massages and two facials, but due to a scheduling error they had to move the facials down. I have worked in the service industry to some degree or another my whole life including at spas and understood that errors sometimes happen. I decided to just cancel the facials and just get massages. What I loved was the wonderful service by the lady I spoke with, Lisa, who genuinely felt bad and offered some complimentary services to make up for it. For me it wasn't a big deal, but we did take a 90 min massage for the price of a 75 min, and enjoyed free smoothies which were delicious. The facilities were so nice and professional, and our massage therapists Sarah Joy and Sandra were terrific, and we felt amazing afterwards. The front desk lady I conversed with was wonderful also, and I highly recommend coming here. Now I need to find a place as good as this in NYC. Will definitely be back when I visit again. I got a Guinot Hydradermie facial at Novo Spa and it was a great experience. The facilities is relaxing and nicely setup as you would expect. For the service is always the most important aspect. Love (Lovepreet) was my esthetician and she was great. I had the same facial at Shizen Spa at the Pantages Hotel downtown and the one I got from Love was much better. She really took the time to give a massage of the facial muscle. Also the prices at Novo Spa is cheaper than at Shizen. I will be going back!!! read more

This was my first and last visit to Nova Spa. First and last facial. on top of everything aesthetician was 30 minutes late, and for some reason no one even bother to mention it to me. As for facial, I have no words - I do the same at home every week, nothing special, Guinot eye treatment was nothing like in Guinot official website description. Waste of money. The place is clean. Otherwise, it's lousy. The "Aroma Color Therapy Sauna" is RIDICULOUS. It's a sauna exactly like any other you'd find at your gym, with a few xmas lights in the ceiling. Honestly, this borders on lying that they call it colour therapy. It's not special and I personally didn't notice any aroma. My RMT was weak...she couldn't feel muscle tension and basically gave me an oily rub down rather than a massage. No strength and no real talent at hitting common pressure points. Got a mani/express pedi here the day before a wedding and it was such a good time. They did all 4 of us girls at the same time, were fast and friendly. They didn't book the massage we wanted & blamed us for their mistake. They expected us to know policies that aren't posted in the salon, on their website & aren't told to you before your service. They tried to make us pay for their mistake, & we may still get charged for it. If you go here, do NOT make your appt w/ Giovanna, don't expect help from the manager Shannon, & if you don't like your massage, walk out w/in 15 minutes to avoid payment. Details: On Saturday, February 7 my husband and I called Novo and booked two 60-minute therapeutic massages with two requests: a woman masseuse for my husband and a person who could do strong pressure for me. The salon receptionist said no problem. We got our massages on Sunday the 8th. During my massage, I asked the woman to apply more pressure for my massage. She said she couldn't. She also did not massage my feet, and massaged me with almost no pressure. I was very dissatisfied with my massage. My husband had the same pressure problem. Our massages only lasted 45 minutes, but we paid for 60 minutes. The receptionist asked me if we enjoyed our spa experience. I said my husband had a decent massage, but I did not enjoy mine. The spa coordinator, Maryelle, asked me what happened. I explained to her we booked two therapeutic massages, what the masseuse said, and our dissatisfaction with the services. Maryelle looked at me oddly, and then looked at our booking. She said, "No, therapeutic massages can have pressure. But you had aromatherapy massages, so that's why you couldn't get more pressure." We didn't book aromatherapy massages. I refused to pay for the massages and asked for a solution to the problem. She said, "Well, you already received the service. If you were not happy with your massage within the first 15 minutes, you could have called it quits and you would not have been charged for the massage." They never told us that information when we arrived, and it is not on their website. I thought I was receiving the service I booked. I just thought the therapeutic massages were not the same as other spas. I said, "You just told me that I received a different kind of massage than what I requested. I didn't receive the massage I asked for, and I will not pay for it. Please call your manager so we can find a solution to this problem." Maryelle kept repeating over and over that we received the service, and that "your service was written in the book, and we need to do an investigation on what happened." We realize what was written in the book, but the book did not have the service we requested. Maryelle called Shannon, one of the managers, and she said the manager repeated the same things Maryelle already told us. We asked her to call back the manager so we could speak to her, and she did. The manager, Shannon, refused to speak with us when Maryelle called back. The salon owner, Gabriel, is in Mexico and isn't going to be back until Tuesday. In the end, Maryelle said she would not charge us for the massages for now, and that the owner, Gabriel, would call us to further discuss the charges. We asked for the name of the woman who booked our appointment that she needed to investigate. Maryelle said her name was Giovanna. We update this post if more info becomes available. read more
