So, I tell the guy how I want my hair. He seems to understand and then he wets some of my hair and starts with a brush. I see the brush when he puts it down: "Who's hair is in that brush?" "A couple of guys. Barbers are busy" "Let's not do that." So, he starts cleaning. and while he's doing that I realize that it is not standard practice there and I left. The owner asked the barber what happened as I left. He didn't address me. So, I can not recommend this place.

Even if it's a heck of a drive away, this is the kind of place you just go and you always stick to! Now, granted, my stylist had an absolutely massive job- I know, I really ought to remember to get my hair cut a little more often, yeesh- but she just tackled that job like it was nothing. It took about an hour to get the wild beast under control, but after a cut, a trim, and pretty much everything that could be done to a hairstyle, a beard, and a mustache, I was out of the chair, winding my way around the mountains of cut hair left on the floor, and just marveling at how good I looked and just how the stylist's sheer tenacity to push through got me to look this amazing. I mean, this was a stylist who dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's- I was expecting her to just break out the clippers and chop everything down to a more manageable size before starting, but not only did she jump right on in, she also stopped repeatedly to make sure I was happy with everything- and then went above and beyond to shape, clean up, and just make me look better than I ever have. I didn't get her name, but she's got an eye for detail and is plenty skilled and amazing! If you live in Kalamazoo, and you're looking for a great place that will cut men's or teen's hair, then this is the place, right here, you're looking for. Yes, it might cost just a bit more, but it's completely worth it if you want an awesome haircut and want to look good- I've gotten lots of compliments on my cut already! I just hope it doesn't take me months and months to get back here again...

I arrived 10 minutes early and Alicia was my barber. Right from the start, she tried to convince me to use clippers instead of the straight razor. I explained that the straight razor experience was the main reason I booked this service and was willing to pay the premium price. During the appointment, several "before and after" photos were taken, but multiple parts of the advertised experience were either skipped or never offered. After working a 10-hour day at the Kalamazoo Event Center, I was especially looking forward to the vibrating shoulder massage, but it was never provided. In addition, my eyebrows were never trimmed, which I had expected to be included as part of a premium grooming service. When paying $125 after tip, I expected more attention to detail and the complete experience that was advertised. While the haircut and beard trim were acceptable, I left feeling like I paid for a premium service but received only a basic version of it. For the price charged, I expected the straight razor experience, finishing touches, and amenities that were promised. Unfortunately, I left disappointed and don't feel the service provided matched the cost. -They did reach out to me to try and make the money correct, she didn't know I had paid a $43 deposit when she rang me up for $70. - I left $82. I didn't take the money because Jude's will probably take her from her tips.
