We first started out with a company called "Rock & Rose," allegedly a prominent landscape architectural firm that specialized in large scale urban residential projects. After the initial call, no one responded back. After a second, it took a month to schedule an appointment. After a walk through, the firm was suppose to come back with an estimate. That took another month. The estimate was astronomical. We told them to scale back and never heard from them again until 6 months later. Meanwhile, we found SF Green Spaces through a friend. Brad Goya interviewed us about what we like and don't like and put together a project plan that included a digital image of what our yard would look like, budget, and schedule. The great thing about Brad is that he's passionate about planting gardens. Our small space gets uneven sunlight at different parts of the day. He actually monitored the suns rays to make sure that the plant species would do well in the back yard. We wanted a nicely integrated decking feature that surrounds our hot tub and one that creates an outdoor living room. The decks create a functional and usable space with built in benches and storage for the hot tub. Almost 2 years later, the gardens that outline our yard are mature and creates a beautiful lush (even tropical) environment. The irrigation system was specially programmed by Brad to ensure proper watering. They will even come back to do prunings. All this at a price that was significantly less than Rock & Rose.
