What a great nursery! Beautiful flowers and helpful, friendly staff. They have a great layout and pretty gardens to stroll through.

Absolutely stunning! I was looking to buy some rose bushes for my home and went to the next door app to see what folks recommended in the area. Almost unanimously, Otto & Sons was the top suggestion. I gotta say, a more perfect location could not exist! Absolutely stunning rose varieties for purchase and for viewing as you're strolling by their gardens. I could have spent hours looking around. We ended up purchasing 8 different roses. An employee was so kind to show us around their garden areas. It's an open space for visitors to go and check out and even have picnic tables for visitors to enjoy the views. They have a beautiful and tranquil koi pond surrounded by beautiful vegetation and fruit trees. I even got to take a few stone fruit for myself. It's beautiful and I cannot wait to go back to enjoy the scenery. Organized, scenic, and great quality options of plants available.

This nursery is so lovely, it is well worth the drive from LA. It has dozens of more varieties and colors of roses than any run of the mill hardware store or even the very nice nurseries in LA. It has rows and rows of every color of roses and beautiful gardens to walk through you will feel like you are in a wonderland. While it is far from LA I really enjoy the drive it is rolling hills once you get off the fwy. Very relaxing. Treat yourself to a lovely experience and come on out here, the staff is extremely helpful and happy as well.

As a Ventura County resident for over 30 years I can't believe I didn't know what an amazing place Otto & Sons Nursery is - a complete gem! Dear Hubby, Sweet Granddaughter, and I went on adventure yesterday on a glorious fall day. We were on the Ventura County Farm Day self-guided tour. With a 3 year old, we didn't get in a lot of venues, but I'm so grateful that this was our first stop. Set in the serene Heritage Valley outside Fillmore, the nursery enjoys a gorgeous backdrop just made for photos. A wholesale nursery offering a garden shop and acres of roses and all manner of other plants, there's so much so see. The public is welcome to visit and shop direct at their facility. I'll share an exciting secret - they have a gorgeous garden section complete with splashing fountains, a koi pond, landscaped pathways, a gazebo, picnic area, and beautiful flower beds. If you plan ahead you can bring a picnic and soak up some relaxation time in this lovely setting. I didn't want to leave! For Farm Day they also had some volunteers helping out with crafts, demonstrations about butterflies and bugs, hay rides, guided tours, and more. DH and I will definitely return, and if SG hears about it, she'll want to go, too!

My favorite place near LA! I could have spent 3 days there just smelling all the David Austin's roses! If you are obsessed with roses there is no better place than here!

Incredible assortment of roses to choose from!

Yes,it's worth the ride! This nursery has the largest and most varied selection of roses in the area. Hybrids with amazing scents, ground roses, climbers, tree roses, you name it. My personal favorites are double delights and Mr Lincoln, both which we now have growing in our garden. Speaking of gardens, the blueberry bushes here are fabulous, too. They're varied and each one has a different flavor, size and growing requirements. We love them and, I'll tell you a little secret, so does our dog. The staff here will help you decide which variety is best suited to your growing conditions. I'm grateful this nursery exists, I'll be back....however, I now need another yard!

    Oh My! red grandiflora roses

We found this nursery through the Edible magazine of Ventura & Ojai counties. I am so glad we came! You will definitely need GPS to find this place as it's on a long winding road. There is plenty of parking and more than enough roses for everyone! The roses are organized A-Z as well as by type, such as Floribunda, Hybrid Tea, English, Grandiflora, miniature, tree, climbers and shrub. They sell all sorts of breeders including David Austin, Weeks, Jackson & Perkins, Sunbelt, Kordes and others. They even have a section for sale roses! They will have a larger selection of roses in the spring. All the roses looked well taken care of. There are a few other plants but mainly this is a rose and fruit tree nursery. Their website is always updated, so definitely check it out for catalogs and information. Otto's offers a "Rose University" training and demonstration held on Saturday mornings - something we plan on attending in the future! We purchased 6 roses on our first visit, and are already planning on which roses to get next!

We were so impressed that we selected a beautiful tree and hedges. I also had a picture of a bush I wanted. He looked it up and found it on their other yard so we added 2 to our order. I decided to make one more stop, and I pulled into this place. I'd driven past this place countless times. They've got several places down the 126, and I did pull into two of them thinking of buying a plant for my patio. "Third time's the charm" I thought to myself as I pulled into the lot with a semi trailer advertising for the place. I saw other cars and realized I was in the right lot. I got out of my car and started meandering around, looking at the multitudes of potted plants, all organized by type. They had pots of every size, from small desk-pot sized to giant tree-sized pots. Before too long somebody came out to greet me and help me out. I explained my needs; I needed something that was kinda cool looking, and nigh-indesctructable. I have a tendency to forget that plants need watering and care and stuff. I excitedly buy plants, and then put the plants on my patio and then tend to wonder why I have pots with sticks several months later. Benjamin furrowed his brow and lead me over to an aisle of plants. He began pointing out the ones that were more difficult to kill. We hadn't gotten very far down the row before a bush caught my eye. It was a greenish thing with some deep red leaves. It certainly fulfilled the "looking kinda cool" requirement. Benjamin said it was fairly hardy, and drought resistant. That went along way for requirement #2. I decided to get it. I expected it to be a fairly expensive purchase, but was very relieved when Benjamin said it was only twenty bucks. He picked up the plant and brought it over to the trailer that served as their office. He punched my credit card info into the computer, and rang me up. He then put the plant in a great big bag that prevented the dirt from getting all over the trunk of my car. He offered to bag the top as well, to prevent leaves from getting all over the trunk of my car, but I declined. I was more concerned with dirt, leaves I could pick up easily enough and toss out. (Which happened when I got home.) He even carried it over to my car and loaded it into my trunk. Nice job Benjamin. I drove home and planted the bush, and marveled at the price. A paltry twenty bucks for this cool lookin bush that was nearly up to my chest. If at some point I discover one of my pots has a bunch of sticks in it, I'll certainly head back here for something else.

WOW! I thought,…read morehmm, do I want to pick out and plant a few Fruit Trees myself, or has experience shown me that someone with decades of practice and results may guide me to better decisions? From our first trip to Moon Valley Nurseries in Fillmore to pick out the Trees, Roy guided us on why certain trees, although maybe less tall, were a far better tree overall due to the health of the tree and leaves. Therefore, I chose a less tall Mandarin Fruit Tree, because I want a better fruit producer over the decades when I pick my own fruit from my own tree. Roy explained how space in the middle of the tree will allow air to flow through the tree which will allow the tree to breath better, therefore produce better. On and on... Amanda, don't tell Roy, collaborated with me on maximizing the 60% sale price combined with delivery fees and a year's maintenance contract (some goodies included) for all 3 Fruit Trees. Each one of the 3 Fruit Trees now in my yard look stunning and healthy and I am excited to see how quickly they grow and how much they produce, which Roy estimated for me on each Fruit Tree. The day of planting, Mauricio showed up with 5 men and 2 trucks and in less than an hour my 3 Fruit Trees had the holes dug out, professionally planted, fertilized, and thoroughly watered for the first time. I would be spending a good part of the day just digging out the first hole that needed to be at least 2 times the size of the tree container...for one tree, let alone 3 trees! As for all the rest they did, I would have worried about what soil amendments and fertilizers to add now versus later. All of this was done for us! After planting, Mauricio handed us a Professional Colored Brochure and explained what we need to do for the rest of the year, to keep our Fruit Trees staying healthy, growing, and producing a lot of fruit. Oh, and Moon Valley Nurseries will be coming out to my home 3 more times during this year, observing and guiding me on each Fruit Tree. We are also excited that each tree comes with a guarantee. We would not have obtained this length of guarantee on trees we simply went and picked out at a Nursery. But that is not all Mauricio did for me. I had struggled over where to place the Fruit Trees in my yard. Mauricio explained to us where he would place each tree and why if this was his yard. Now that all 3 Fruit Trees are in place, I can see exactly why Mauricio chose each spot for each tree. The one that will grow the largest has the most space available. Two other trees were placed yards apart, so they would be able to grow to their maximum height and width. But trees were also placed so I can see from one tree to the next. So grateful for the experience and cannot wait for my own orange juice! Thanks Amanda, Roy, Mauricio & Crew.

I was impressed by the size of this nursery, the variety of trees, sizes available for purchase, health of the plants and soil they come in, and of course, Maribel, who has been so helpful and patient while I design my landscape. Maribel helped us choose trees that were within our budget, showed us how to trim them, and helped us with design ideas for our space. When I told her I needed fragrant trees, with small (non invasive root systems), that only grew a certain size, she quickly texted me a variety of choices, then drove us around her nursery showing us all the trees. She's incredibly knowledgeable, easy to work with, and is available always to answer our questions. She makes every member of my family feel special (especially my niece/nephew that have visited the nursery with me). When I show her pictures of what I'm looking to accomplish she can quickly tell me the names and characteristics of the plants I like. She's just amazing!!! We were charged approximately $35,000 to landscape our front and backyard, and we were promised high-quality materials, including large 50-gallon plants and flowers. Instead, they installed the smallest five-gallon plants they could find. The grass was also the cheapest quality, was poorly leveled, and started dying almost immediately. We wanted privacy trees installed along one side of our brick wall. Standard Group recommended ficus trees and planted them only three feet from our pool because that was the only space available. We later learned that ficus trees should be planted at least 10 feet away from a pool structure. Because of their poor recommendation and installation, we had to hire another landscaping company to remove and replant all of the trees, costing us thousands more. We also asked for flowers and plants in a large area, but instead, Standard Group simply covered it with approximately two inches of wood chips. The wood chips covered our sprinkler heads and drainage areas, and their work resulted in broken pipes. We were charged $4k for landscape lighting, only to discover later that they used the cheapest lights available and charged us far more than the installation was worth. We also paid $800 for a Meyer lemon tree that we never received. After repeatedly contacting the owner Dave and expressing my frustration, I finally received a tree months later - but it was a standard lemon tree, not the Meyer lemon tree we paid for. This entire experience was an absolute nightmare and felt like a complete rip-off. Standard Group charged us thousands of dollars while cutting corners everywhere, using the smallest plants and cheapest materials possible, and failing to deliver what was promised. Before hiring this company, read the one-star reviews carefully. Many customers describe similar experiences. Based on what happened to us, be extremely cautious and do not use Standard Group. In my experience, this company is unprofessional, significantly overcharges customers, and does not deliver the quality or materials it promises.
