This was a far drive but definitely worth it. This is a huge nursery with a large variety of whatever you may be looking for. They definitely have the largest selection of Roses in Southern California. Their roses are alphabetically organized so it's very easy to find what you are looking for. They take very good care of their roses. They have a small gift shop and they have a beautiful garden display that I highly recommend you come and visit even if you don't plan on buying anything it is well worth spending a couple of hours just enjoying everything they have. They having lots of resting benches in the garden to enjoy the peace and quiet. The Koi Pond is very relaxing to the mind. I will definitely return. The closest places to eat are about 5 miles away so I would recommend you bring some snacks. They do offer some drinks and a few snacks in their store. The quality of their products are good so expect to pay a premium price. However, they do offer some specials. I bought a potted rose for $15! The only discount they told me they offer to customers is if you are a member of the rose association. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I live in Moorpark and have to drive through Graham Canyon to get here but it's worth it. They have the most amazing rose garden I've ever seen. It shows their long established history and expertise in Gardening. They have a nice selection. They have quite a few veggies and fruit trees. Absolutely stunning! I was looking to buy some rose bushes for my home and went to the next door app to see what folks recommended in the area. Almost unanimously, Otto & Sons was the top suggestion. I gotta say, a more perfect location could not exist! Absolutely stunning rose varieties for purchase and for viewing as you're strolling by their gardens. I could have spent hours looking around. We ended up purchasing 8 different roses. An employee was so kind to show us around their garden areas. It's an open space for visitors to go and check out and even have picnic tables for visitors to enjoy the views. They have a beautiful and tranquil koi pond surrounded by beautiful vegetation and fruit trees. I even got to take a few stone fruit for myself. This nursery is so lovely, it is well worth the drive from LA. It has dozens of more varieties and colors of roses than any run of the mill hardware store or even the very nice nurseries in LA. It has rows and rows of every color of roses and beautiful gardens to walk through you will feel like you are in a wonderland. While it is far from LA I really enjoy the drive it is rolling hills once you get off the fwy. Very relaxing. As a Ventura County resident for over 30 years I can't believe I didn't know what an amazing place Otto & Sons Nursery is - a complete gem! Dear Hubby, Sweet Granddaughter, and I went on adventure yesterday on a glorious fall day. We were on the Ventura County Farm Day self-guided tour. With a 3 year old, we didn't get in a lot of venues, but I'm so grateful that this was our first stop. Set in the serene Heritage Valley outside Fillmore, the nursery enjoys a gorgeous backdrop just made for photos. A wholesale nursery offering a garden shop and acres of roses and all manner of other plants, there's so much so see. The public is welcome to visit and shop direct at their facility. I'll share an exciting secret - they have a gorgeous garden section complete with splashing fountains, a koi pond, landscaped pathways, a gazebo, picnic area, and beautiful flower beds. If you plan ahead you can bring a picnic and soak up some relaxation time in this lovely setting. I didn't want to leave! For Farm Day they also had some volunteers helping out with crafts, demonstrations about butterflies and bugs, hay rides, guided tours, and more. Yes,it's worth the ride! This nursery has the largest and most varied selection of roses in the area. Hybrids with amazing scents, ground roses, climbers, tree roses, you name it. My personal favorites are double delights and Mr Lincoln, both which we now have growing in our garden. Speaking of gardens, the blueberry bushes here are fabulous, too. They're varied and each one has a different flavor, size and growing requirements. We love them and, I'll tell you a little secret, so does our dog. We found this nursery through the Edible magazine of Ventura & Ojai counties. I am so glad we came! You will definitely need GPS to find this place as it's on a long winding road. There is plenty of parking and more than enough roses for everyone! The roses are organized A-Z as well as by type, such as Floribunda, Hybrid Tea, English, Grandiflora, miniature, tree, climbers and shrub. They sell all sorts of breeders including David Austin, Weeks, Jackson & Perkins, Sunbelt, Kordes and others. They even have a section for sale roses! They will have a larger selection of roses in the spring. All the roses looked well taken care of. There are a few other plants but mainly this is a rose and fruit tree nursery. Their website is always updated, so definitely check it out for catalogs and information. Otto's offers a "Rose University" training and demonstration held on Saturday mornings - something we plan on attending in the future! After living in Ventura County for decades I'm embarrassed to say I had never heard of Otto and Sons until they were recommended through another nursery in Carpenteria. I went on their extensive website and was very impressed I could order roses on-line but wanted to visit the nursery since Fillmore has such great scenery. Located a few miles outside of town I was overwhelmed with the HUGE selection of roses! The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and personal. They obviously know roses! Wow! 22 acres of beautiful roses. Like a magnificent botanical park, only these beauties are for sale. We stopped by on our way back from Santa Barbara since my wife had a few specials she wanted to pick up on sale. Added to her rose garden, compliments of Otto & Sons were the Coretta Scott King and Christopher Columbus. Maybe not politically correct, but 2 new beautiful additions to our home. This tucked away, scenic nursery has the most beautiful rose varieties. We are so grateful to have found Otto & Sons. We are new to rose gardening and the staff took the time to explain the process and even shared their YouTube educational resource with us to reference back. You may not be expecting this in the middle of the wilds of Fillmore... They have gajillions of roses, and a wide selection of fruit trees. I bought a bonsai jacaranda that looks wonderful, and was reasonably priced in it's 5 gallon container. And the garden store is really lovely - full of great gifts for gardeners (designer boots, tools, watering cans), lovely garden decor, and a good selection of fertilizers, natural pest control, soils etc. I'll be back for sure! This is my absolute favorite rose grower in California! I love the selection and health of the roses from Otto & Sons! I visited this nursery and was surprised at the amount of different types and colors of roses available for purchase! I drove about 6-7 hours round-trip to visit, I bought 5 roses, and I still think about going back to buy more! I bought: Voluptuous, Royal Jubilee (David Austin rose), Polynesian Punch, Rio Samba, and Neil Diamond. All five of these roses are blooming like crazy in my yard (coastal climate). My favorites of these two are Neil Diamond and Voluptuous. One major bonus for me is that we get some roses delivered from Otto & Sons at my local Armstrong Nursery in Encinitas, but it's definitely not the same experience or selection that you would find at the actual Otto & Sons Nursery. I highly recommend checking out this nursery if you're a fan of roses! The owners are very dedicated, hard workers. The reason that I know about this place is because the owner spoke at my local (Del Mar) rose society meeting a few months ago and did an excellent pruning demonstration. read more

Came to Otto and Sons for their annual Rose University. Such an amazing experience, this is the second year attending and we are never disappointed. Scott and his family are so friendly and welcoming! They give a great presentation of how to prune your roses. This has become a a tradition for us to attend this event.
