We were absolutely delighted with our experience at Norman's Nursery!…read more Our landscapers recommended that we visit Norman's, and we're so grateful that we did. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by Evelyn. She is extremely knowledgeable and professional, and was a pleasure to work with! With her guidance, we selected eight trees. Brandon and the team at Norman's that handled the installation was highly professional and did an excellent job. The trees looked so beautiful that we decided to add more! One of the things we truly appreciate is Norman's planting guarantee--if any of the trees don't thrive, they will replace them. When investing in quality trees, it's reassuring to have a vendor that stands behind its products. We're excited to continue expanding our growing grove and will definitely be back for more!

We had never been to a nursery before so we were at ease when we got a friendly greeting from Daniel. He asked us some pertinent questions that would help him narrow down the right plants and trees and off we went to look! He was a wealth of knowledge. We were so impressed that we selected a beautiful tree and hedges. I also had a picture of a bush I wanted. He looked it up and found it on their other yard so we added 2 to our order. They were delivered within a few days. Unfortunately, they didn't bring the items we tagged but Daniel got it sorted out right away and they were delivered the very next morning. It was really no big deal, as they corrected the error immediately and Daniel communicated with us with updates. Good quality plants at a reasonable price. Super happy we stopped by Norman's and will definitely buy from them again!

WOW! I thought,…read morehmm, do I want to pick out and plant a few Fruit Trees myself, or has experience shown me that someone with decades of practice and results may guide me to better decisions? From our first trip to Moon Valley Nurseries in Fillmore to pick out the Trees, Roy guided us on why certain trees, although maybe less tall, were a far better tree overall due to the health of the tree and leaves. Therefore, I chose a less tall Mandarin Fruit Tree, because I want a better fruit producer over the decades when I pick my own fruit from my own tree. Roy explained how space in the middle of the tree will allow air to flow through the tree which will allow the tree to breath better, therefore produce better. On and on... Amanda, don't tell Roy, collaborated with me on maximizing the 60% sale price combined with delivery fees and a year's maintenance contract (some goodies included) for all 3 Fruit Trees. Each one of the 3 Fruit Trees now in my yard look stunning and healthy and I am excited to see how quickly they grow and how much they produce, which Roy estimated for me on each Fruit Tree. The day of planting, Mauricio showed up with 5 men and 2 trucks and in less than an hour my 3 Fruit Trees had the holes dug out, professionally planted, fertilized, and thoroughly watered for the first time. I would be spending a good part of the day just digging out the first hole that needed to be at least 2 times the size of the tree container...for one tree, let alone 3 trees! As for all the rest they did, I would have worried about what soil amendments and fertilizers to add now versus later. All of this was done for us! After planting, Mauricio handed us a Professional Colored Brochure and explained what we need to do for the rest of the year, to keep our Fruit Trees staying healthy, growing, and producing a lot of fruit. Oh, and Moon Valley Nurseries will be coming out to my home 3 more times during this year, observing and guiding me on each Fruit Tree. We are also excited that each tree comes with a guarantee. We would not have obtained this length of guarantee on trees we simply went and picked out at a Nursery. But that is not all Mauricio did for me. I had struggled over where to place the Fruit Trees in my yard. Mauricio explained to us where he would place each tree and why if this was his yard. Now that all 3 Fruit Trees are in place, I can see exactly why Mauricio chose each spot for each tree. The one that will grow the largest has the most space available. Two other trees were placed yards apart, so they would be able to grow to their maximum height and width. But trees were also placed so I can see from one tree to the next. So grateful for the experience and cannot wait for my own orange juice! Thanks Amanda, Roy, Mauricio & Crew.

Very disappointed with the "after the sale"customer service. Buyer beware, there is zero warranty…read morepolicy unless you pay for them to install. About 4 weeks ago We bought two nice sized trees and 16 shrubs. We paid for the trees to be planted and planted the shrubs ourselves. All the shrubs were planted in the same planter. All but 2-3 of the shrubs are doing well. They will not replace the few that died. We spent a lot of money, and after such a short amount of time they could have made it right with just a few shrubs. If I had to do it again I'd go to Home Depot or Lowe's. Much better pricing and comes with a warranty.

This place and the service is amazing! I visited The Standard Design Group while looking for olive…read moretrees. I was impressed by the size of this nursery, the variety of trees, sizes available for purchase, health of the plants and soil they come in, and of course, Maribel, who has been so helpful and patient while I design my landscape. Maribel helped us choose trees that were within our budget, showed us how to trim them, and helped us with design ideas for our space. When I told her I needed fragrant trees, with small (non invasive root systems), that only grew a certain size, she quickly texted me a variety of choices, then drove us around her nursery showing us all the trees. She's incredibly knowledgeable, easy to work with, and is available always to answer our questions. She makes every member of my family feel special (especially my niece/nephew that have visited the nursery with me). When I show her pictures of what I'm looking to accomplish she can quickly tell me the names and characteristics of the plants I like. She's just amazing!!! I highly recommend Maribel and I can't wait to come back and visit when I'm redoing the landscape in a different property.

I would not recommend Standard Group to anyone. This is, without question, the worst landscaping…read morecompany I have ever dealt with. We were charged approximately $35,000 to landscape our front and backyard, and we were promised high-quality materials, including large 50-gallon plants and flowers. Instead, they installed the smallest five-gallon plants they could find. The grass was also the cheapest quality, was poorly leveled, and started dying almost immediately. We wanted privacy trees installed along one side of our brick wall. Standard Group recommended ficus trees and planted them only three feet from our pool because that was the only space available. We later learned that ficus trees should be planted at least 10 feet away from a pool structure. Because of their poor recommendation and installation, we had to hire another landscaping company to remove and replant all of the trees, costing us thousands more. We also asked for flowers and plants in a large area, but instead, Standard Group simply covered it with approximately two inches of wood chips. The wood chips covered our sprinkler heads and drainage areas, and their work resulted in broken pipes. We were charged $4k for landscape lighting, only to discover later that they used the cheapest lights available and charged us far more than the installation was worth. We also paid $800 for a Meyer lemon tree that we never received. After repeatedly contacting the owner Dave and expressing my frustration, I finally received a tree months later - but it was a standard lemon tree, not the Meyer lemon tree we paid for. This entire experience was an absolute nightmare and felt like a complete rip-off. Standard Group charged us thousands of dollars while cutting corners everywhere, using the smallest plants and cheapest materials possible, and failing to deliver what was promised. Before hiring this company, read the one-star reviews carefully. Many customers describe similar experiences. Based on what happened to us, be extremely cautious and do not use Standard Group. In my experience, this company is unprofessional, significantly overcharges customers, and does not deliver the quality or materials it promises.

They did everything from a paver-stone patio, new irrigation and sod, removing and re-locating existing trees and plants, adding lights, and even retrofitting and setting up an old fountain of ours that had been used as a planter. I can't say enough about Andres and his crew, they were hard working, professional and had great ideas for improving our design. Lastly, Laurie came in and helped with the grand design of our planting scheme. With her knowledge of plants, she made the most of our existing plants and then added her touch with additional planting that turned our backyard into a wonderland. We love our new backyard and are so happy we chose Sterling Gardens Nursery to do the job.

After we went to the latter with only partial success, DH suggested going to Sterling. He'd been there before, while I had only wanted to visit but had never stopped in. It's beautifully laid out. Though it's a nursery, selling all manner of trees and other plants, it's arranged to feel like you're visiting a designed garden. Once we drove into the heart of the property I was somewhat confused on where to stop and park. DH remarked that they had done some major rearranging since he'd last been there, so he wasn't sure where to direct me to go. We found a spot that wasn't blocking any of their driveways, then got out to take a look around. We weren't seeing any succulents, nor any employees to ask. I was soaking up the beautiful surroundings when one of the staff offered to help. He said that they don't sell smaller succulents, only one and five gallon pots. That's not going to work for us at this stage, so we thanked him and moved on to another stop. I would plan to return when looking for larger landscaping needs.
