If i could give this place 0 stars i would. This place was disgusting at the least. the drains and vents were filled with mold, food from other guests was found under our beds as well as spider webs, weird stains on sheets, bugs in the room, carpets made our socks turn black, broken pull out bed, (when we called specifically to ask if they had pull out beds , the maintenance man said "they must've given you the only room with a broken bed) when we complained about the bed they moved us to a new room and the room smelt like stale cigarettes and wet dog. NOT TO MENTION THERE WAS STAINS ALL OVER THE TOILET. We stayed at this hotel room for 2 nights. We left one morning to visit the amusement park nearby , and when we came back our door was wide open. when we asked the front counter why they said we left it open when we were positive it was shut. One of the housekeeping ladies claimed she seen our door open early in the morning with nobody in the room and did not think to give us a call or even shut the door ! We asked for camera footage to see if anyone went in our room because they claimed they did not and they told us there are no cameras but claims to have seen one of us walk out the room any not shut the door... Also house keeping lady complained we left our wet towels in a bag outside our door when they specifically told us any dirty towels or wash cloths get set in a garbage bag outside of the door before noon to be replaced (they did not replace them we had to go to the front desk to ask for more) DO NOT RECOMMEND.. The location is good but the overall customer service and tired and worn rooms really kill this place. We were staying here and seeing a show at the same time. The music Hall is great! The servers are really running around making sure things are taken care of and the sound is fantastic. As for the rooms and the customer service-all I can say is that the hotel would be better off allowing customers to check themselves in and not saying a word to anyone. Gina, who works at the front desk, refused to confirm our reservation (mind you this is an approximately 20-room hotel) without a confirmation number. When we asked to just provide our last name, she told us there was no way to do this without the number. Ok we said, let me look for the email. Gina replied that this number would have only been given over the phone and not sent in an email. Really?? I've never stayed in another hotel in America that works like this. Not sure if this is a hotel policy or Gina's way to get out of work. The rooms themselves are outdated with way-to-large furniture cluttering the rooms. The couch in ours was torn and needed to hit the dump about 5 years earlier. The convenience is what had us book this location but for the price, I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

We had a lovely stay here and got a deal because a) we were seeing a show in their Listening Room, and b) it is off-season. Our room was on the main floor (and right next to the Listening Room) and was very clean and pleasant. We did not use the fireplace and whirlpool tub, but they were both a nice perk. The bed was comfortable and the room temp was fine. The desk clerks were all very friendly, and the lobby is cozy. No complaints! There is a bank next door in case you need an ATM. The hotel is right across from the lake, and the Jet Express is two blocks away. There are shops and bar/restaurants a short walk away, and a Wendy's next door. We had no issues with parking - there were spots right by the back door. read more

***First things first, anybody that knows anything about this area, particularly during the few months of terrorist -er uh, I mean tourist season - knows that everything is a MILLION dollars. And as far as lodging there is quite a bit to choose from, ALL of them (even the Motel # joint that's infested with bedbugs - all the locals know) are $$$-$$$$, and most of them are marginal at best. Despite other reviews that mentioned a nursing home, funeral home, and even the Bate's Motel (admittedly funny to read), I had no such experience during a weeklong stay at Our Guest Inn. It is a motel, but feels more like a B&B - without the second B (they do have coffee in the lobby) - particularly if you stay in the main "house" that has a parlor, is pool and lakefront, and has an adorable wraparound porch with lots of Adirondack chairs to chill in. [I can't speak for the separate building that is just across the parking lot.] Upon arrival, I was happily surprised they had given me a complimentary upgrade to the king jet tub "suite." It was a room on the first floor of the "house," had a full sized sofa (pull-out if needed), a small TV, 2 person dining table and chairs, and mini fridge and microwave in the first part of the room. The "bedroom" had an electric fireplace, larger TV, and a MASSIVE jet tub right in the corner of the room. Then there was the separate water closet and tub/shower. A very impressive and interesting use of space indeed! Yes, the property is older - Port Clinton has managed to keep high-rise hotels out of the historic area - but it is well-maintained and VERY clean. Cleaner than many 5-star hotels I have stayed at before. Drains worked fine, shower pressure and temp A-OK, no stained ceilings or weird smells. The sheets were admittedly a little worn and could stand to be replaced; however, not a huge deal and the owner/manager did take note and showed sincere concern once it was pointed out. The quilt on the bed was nostalgic and cute - almost (repeat, almost) like staying at grandma's house. :D Bottom-line: *CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! *LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - located within walking distance to the "beach," the Jet Express to take you to the Islands, and close to all that downtown has to offer. *PRICE - from ~$100 to over $250 nightly during peak season, you might think the prices are ridiculous for the accommodations. No, this isn't Vegas baby, but good luck finding anything as nice for any lesser price!!! I'll give you a nickel if you do. read more

This place is adorable! I read the reviews about it being dated, and that may be so, but the place is so charming, I would never change it. Very clean, the staff was very friendly. They sell refreshments in the lobby. The place was very quiet. One of the most adorable places I have ever stayed. If I had a "complaint", though it hardly qualifies as a complaint, I would say the water in the hot tub was only luke warm. But I am hard pressed to think that would detour me from going out of my way to come back and stay here. Port Clinton is also a very bewitching place. Had a wonderful stay all around. read more

We stayed here July of this year. One night on a Friday. The room was clean....that's all the positives. We paid $280 for one night. The website is VERY misleading about the accommodations. It talks about being a "boutique Hotel" ....not true. Our room was behind the Wendy's restaurant. The building looks like a 1950s motel 6 only worse. They don't show this in the website.....I feel we were ripped off, there were no other hotels available on short notice so we were stuck there. Fortunately we didn't stay in Port Clinton, but took the jet express to put in bay for the day. Only slept there on Friday night and got out early the next day. read more

smells musty, stains on box springs and sheets, light switch on outside of bathroom, no sink in the bathroom, sink is located in the outside of the room, therefore having to walk out of the bathroom to use the sink, or having to get out of the shower and come outside of the bathroom to brush your teeth, the water pressure is terrible, sticky floor, dirty drawers, few towels provided, no breakfast included. Clean but in need of some facility maintenance - water stains on ceiling, slow drains. Decor is mid century, think nursing home/funeral home/ bad horror movie setting. Got a double queen room with an additional pull out for five of us. The price was right but the room was pretty cramped. Didn't mind so much as we just wanted a place to sleep and shower. Daily housekeeping leaves a little to be desired. Day one, we only had our beds made, no trash pickup, towel replacement (even with a note asking for 5 towels instead of 3), no replenishment of coffee and consumables. Day two, we had no visit from housekeeping at all. Staff was friendly, pool was a little cool, no breakfast offered. Overall, it met our needs. Walking distance to jet express to get to the islands was a big plus. I would stay again for the price and convenience. read more

The folks here are SUPER nice, and although the rooms were pretty clean, they haven't been updated in a while. The liner in the bathtub had mold on the bottom, which is my biggest complaint. The pool was perfect, the price was good, and a close 2 blocks to the Jet Express which was an easy walk. read more

At the last minute we decided to go to Port Clinton around mid-August. As others have stated, this is a tourist town, and I expected to pay a fortune for a room. Because school has already started for much of Ohio, and this was midweek, we got a great price. The hotel does feel more like a bed and breakfast than a chain hotel. Our room was the same as Dawn H's -- king-size bed, jet tub in the room, nice bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, couch, table and chairs. And an electric fireplace! There is also a small pool at the front of the property. The bed had a cute embroidered spread. The room had a very homey feel to it. And it was VERY CLEAN! We stayed in the main house part of the property. There were no odd stains, no smells, nothing weird with the plumbing... It was a very comfortable, very clean room. I am so glad we decided to give this place a chance rather than stay at one of the cheap chains down the street. The location is great! It is right near the main street of Port Clinton within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the Jet Express. The TVs are a little old. but they work, and we have some just them in our extra bedrooms. It is not the most modern place I've stayed, but it is one of the absolute cleanest and friendliest places I've stayed. I'll take clean and friendly over modern any day! My only complaint was with trying to make the reservation. When I called the tollfree number late at night, I was sent to a foreign phone bank. I hung up and reserved online. If I had called this hotel directly, I'm sure it would have been fine. Skip the chains, support locally owned businesses and stay here. read more

We stayed here one night for an impromptu trip to port Clinton. The location was great being so close to the lake and beach. The lobby was nice as was the swimming pool. They had a fire pit we enjoyed after our swim which was a nice touch. The reason I gave it 3 stars was the amount of bugs in the room. Every ceiling corner had large areas full of dead gnats. There was so many ants in the bathroom and dead gnats in the shower, I wouldn't even shower there. Having gnats in a room with exterior doors is understandable but housekeeping should have taken the effort to clean out the huge amount of all the dead gnats. read more

If you enjoy that nostalgic nursing home-feel, then this is your place! Greeted by Christmas decorations in the lobby in August, this Inn receives one star, as it is a short walk the the Jet Express ferry, which is very convenient, as you will want to spend as much time away from your room as possible. As you enter your cramped room, you'll notice strange smells emanating from unknown locations, peeling paint, mold, and out-dated (or malfunctioning) electronics. Upon showering, you'll be ankle-deep in water, courtesy of the poorly draining tubs. But, Lake Erie IS right across the street, which may give you a cleaner feeling. The price was very steep for the value received, and we stayed in two rooms, with the same problems in both rooms. Don't be our guest. read more

I have stayed here three times now over the weekend. The rooms are decent and they have great prices so I'm giving it a 4/5 stars. Just a word of advice, book your reservations in advance during May. Between the Biggest Week in American Birding and the Walleye Festival, they fill up fast! Stayed here for one night on a weekend. This place is amazing and the staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little vintage but it goes perfectly with the house. Front porch and pool area is perfect for relaxing and socializing. Asked if I could build a little fire in the fire pit and front desk staff whipped out logs, a firestarter and a lighter!! Location is close to downtown and the Jet Express. Walking distance to the park and restaurants. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. HIGHLY recommend!! read more

This review is for this inns venue The Listening Room. I have to admit that I was very surprise after hours of driving in the middle of nowhere to come across this delightful coastal town. It's too bad that this inn is not pet friendly, I would have love to stay here over night. As you walk in there is a set up for the artist to sell his goods. Then the inns gift shop. The staff are all very friendly and cheerful. The interior is done very nicely. The listening room is a small venue, this really added charm to the event I had come to hear. There really is no bad spot. There was rows of chairs with tiny tables. There is a minimum two drink purchase, I don't drink but still was okay with purchasing hot water! There was a nice friendly atmosphere which was created by the owners of this inn. After driving for all those many hours, this was definitely a welcoming place to be in. I'm putting this place as one of my places that I would go back and visit. Won't be able to stay at their inn since my dog is always with me, but The Listening Room is worth the drive! read more

Just like the other reviews state about the decor i concur. Also if you like sleeping on plywood that is covered by a thin sheet then this is the play for you! Worst night sleep I have EVER got at a hotel EVER. Me and the gf left around 330am because neither of us could sleep. Was deciding on throwing their tv from 1995 off the balcony in protest but didn't want to get charged $25 to replace it for a newer 1997 model. Don't be a cheap ass spend an extra $30 and stay at the holiday inn. I know there is a show called Bar Rescue how about Hotel Rescue. read more

Hotel was reminiscent of the Bates Hotel. We stayed in the "vintage" room which basically meant old. There was no heat in the room and when complained was told that they hadn't turned on the boiler furnace yet but was provided one space heater for 2 rooms. Kitchen was extremely dates and refrigerator was uneven and tilted from side to side when opening. The shims under the edge of the refrigerator were obvious and not effective. The TVs were small and old. Carpet was dated, stained and gross. It took a good 5 minutes for hot water and even then tepid. Overall it was not a good experience and never will stay there again. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a weekend away for a mini vacation up to the islands. We chose this hotel because through the pictures it gave a bed & breakfast-esqe feel and were hoping for a romantic country atmosphere. Overall we left feeling disappointed and a bit ripped off. Long story as follows: ARRIVAL & CHECK IN: When we pulled in, we were not disappointed. The front of the hotel was just as pictured on the websites, very beautiful exterior. We parked the car, grabbed our bags, and went in to check in. We were met with a pleasant front desk person and a line of individuals stretched into the lobby. We were asked "are you here for the show or to stay?" Apparently two American Idol participants were performing that evening, I did not know either. We told her we were there to stay and she advised we could still see the show for $15 each. We declined and continued checking in. We were told we had a room in the back building, confused we asked if it was attached to this building and was told that it was not it was across the parking lot behind Wendy's. Before leaving, we asked if it was possible to leave our car there the next day as we were going to the islands and we were told Yes. So we went back to our car, loaded it up and drove tot he back building. HEADING TO OUR ROOM: So we drove back to our room it was drastically different than the cute bed & breakfast feel that the main hotel had. It was what I would describe as a "Motel", not a hotel. Hotels being rooms are inside the main building and you would exit your room and step into a hallway. Our entry/exit door was outdoors in a Motel fashion. We were able to able to park right in front of our door and went in. OUR ROOM: The room had a "dated" smell and I made the comment it smelled like "Grandma's house." the room was about 15x15 and included a TV from 2002, a mini fridge on top of a dresser which then had a microwave balanced on top of that. a king size bed (as requested) that had one of the hardest mattresses I've ever slept on. But was soft and saggy in the middle to force cuddling during the night. When I sat on the edge of the bed to remove my shoes the entire bed flipped up off the frame. So there would be no sitting on the edges of the bed and you had to make sure your partner balanced your weight or you were going to tip over. The shower was tiny and seemed a little dingy in my opinion. But the shower had GREAT water pressure. You only get 2 towels and one little container of shampoo so if you were showering for more than one day I'd recommend you bring your own. We settled in with the feeling it wasn't worth the $120+ but it was better than nothing. At about 6am, the power went out so we lost our alarm clock, the air conditioning, and I am on a cpap machine for sleep apnea so that turned off too. It was off for about 20 minutes but enough time for me to wake up because I wasn't able to breath, get humid in the room and luckily to set my phone alarm. CHECKING OUT: We packed up and put our stuff in the car and drove back up to the lobby. We parked our car close to the building for safety reasons while it would be left behind. We went in and told the clerk that we were checking out. We signed the receipts and before we left advised her that we were leaving our car there because the lady last night said we could. We were then given a bit of an attitude saying "We are completely full and we have a show tonight, you can't leave it. And we pushed back saying "but we were told last night it wasn't a problem, we would be back this evening around dinner time." And she said "well, if the other lady said you could then I guess you would be allowed, SINCE she already said yes." So we left to our adventure for the day. When we returned at 7pm to pick up our car, the parking lot was not any more full than it was when we left and the electronic marquee stated they had "Rooms Available". Ultimately, we felt a bit ripped off, a little dirty, and lied to. If you really need just a place to lay your head and are not looking for a good experience then this is the place for you. But, we will not be staying here again. Just not worth the money for what you got. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights on the 4th and 5th of August with my daughter and 2 other friends. The first night we were there when getting ready for bed we noticed what looked to be a spot of blood on the sheets. We notified the front desk and they came up and changed the sheet. I slept on 1 queen bed my friends slept on the other, and my daughter slept on the pull out couch. When we woke up on Monday the 5th my daughter notices some bites on her feet and we thought it was just mosquitoes. While we're at cedar point and the day progressed more bites showed up and the itching became very bad. We ran down the street to Kroger's and bought some Calamine lotion. My daughter was barely able to sleep that night and upon waking up notices that the bites became more numerous on her feet and moved up her legs. We notified the front desk and the owner of the business that we thought it may be bed bugs and also of what happened on Sunday night too. The response from them is what I expected saying they don't have bedbugs. The owner told us as we were walking out that she was going up to the room to check it and had a carpet cleaning company coming to clean even though they "didn't have bed bugs". While at cedar point on Tuesday the 6th it was so intolerable that we had to visit first add several times for a numbing cream and Benadryl which barely helped. The 4 hour ride back to Pittsburgh was very uncomfortable for her and when we arrived we went straight to the emergency room where they diagnosed as bed bugs by the look and features of how the bites were. I had to take everything i had with me in that room to be washed and dried in hopes that it would kill any bedbugs that hitched a ride home with us. I also noticed a extra charge above what I was supposed to pay of $80.55 on my bank. I contacted them on the 7th and was told neither the owner nor manager was on site so I left my name and number plus the reason I called and was told I would get a phone call back. I received no phone call and proceeded to call them again on Thur the 8th. Again I was told that neither were there and that they would take my name and number and call me back. Well no phone call again. I called again today on Friday the 9th and was told again that the manager nor owner was there again and they would take my number and call me back. I contacted the health department today the 8th of August. I would not recommend staying here due to my daughter getting bit by bedbugs. read more

My husband and I were very disappointed with our room. We stayed in the old building in the front on the second floor. Walls were dirty and the carpet smells like smelly feet. Our bedroom air conditioner was not properly installed which allowed bugs to come into our room throughout the night. No air conditioning in the bathroom and kitchen area. I never write negative reviews and I tend to ignore them myself, but this place doesn't not deserve even 1 Star! Definite RED FLAG! Must be under new management. This used to be a great place, even recommended it to others. Our last stay was HORRIBLE! We reserved a room with 2 Queen beds. Ended up with 1 queen and a small pull-out & were charged the same price of $189.99 per night. It was an old room, smelled like a nursing home. Sheets didn't fit the bed, paint peeling off ceiling & walls. Worst hotel experience ever & we travel a lot. No one was available to help resolve the issues. Lady at the desk said the manager would have to help us, but the manager was conveniently never available. Prior to this stay, we'd booked 2 rooms and had to cancel one, gave 24 hrs notice & they charged for the extra room because we didn't provide 48 hrs notice. Should have known then not to give them a second chance. Would highly recommend the Island Hotel that's about a block away across the street from McCarthy's. read more
