***First things first, anybody that knows anything about this area, particularly during the few months of terrorist -er uh, I mean tourist season - knows that everything is a MILLION dollars. And as far as lodging there is quite a bit to choose from, ALL of them (even the Motel # joint that's infested with bedbugs - all the locals know) are $$$-$$$$, and most of them are marginal at best. Despite other reviews that mentioned a nursing home, funeral home, and even the Bate's Motel (admittedly funny to read), I had no such experience during a weeklong stay at Our Guest Inn. It is a motel, but feels more like a B&B - without the second B (they do have coffee in the lobby) - particularly if you stay in the main "house" that has a parlor, is pool and lakefront, and has an adorable wraparound porch with lots of Adirondack chairs to chill in. [I can't speak for the separate building that is just across the parking lot.] Upon arrival, I was happily surprised they had given me a complimentary upgrade to the king jet tub "suite." It was a room on the first floor of the "house," had a full sized sofa (pull-out if needed), a small TV, 2 person dining table and chairs, and mini fridge and microwave in the first part of the room. The "bedroom" had an electric fireplace, larger TV, and a MASSIVE jet tub right in the corner of the room. Then there was the separate water closet and tub/shower. A very impressive and interesting use of space indeed! Yes, the property is older - Port Clinton has managed to keep high-rise hotels out of the historic area - but it is well-maintained and VERY clean. Cleaner than many 5-star hotels I have stayed at before. Drains worked fine, shower pressure and temp A-OK, no stained ceilings or weird smells. The sheets were admittedly a little worn and could stand to be replaced; however, not a huge deal and the owner/manager did take note and showed sincere concern once it was pointed out. The quilt on the bed was nostalgic and cute - almost (repeat, almost) like staying at grandma's house. :D Bottom-line: *CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! *LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - located within walking distance to the "beach," the Jet Express to take you to the Islands, and close to all that downtown has to offer. *PRICE - from ~$100 to over $250 nightly during peak season, you might think the prices are ridiculous for the accommodations. No, this isn't Vegas baby, but good luck finding anything as nice for any lesser price!!! I'll give you a nickel if you do.

Spilled coffee or pop on blanket---holes in sheets---and smashed bugs on the wall between the beds.

Not as good as it looked. Posted picture of bugs smashed on the wallpaper, pop or coffee stains on the unclean blanket, holes in the sheet and a real disappointment for a much needed break from disappointing news in relation to health issues. Think twice!

Dirty place with thin walls and an uncaring staff. Bugs, dirty toilet and all the charm of a truckstop parking lot.

I had completed a mobile check-in. I prepaid to stay here for 3 nights and was supposed to checkout tomorrow. I go into the app to see that they cancelled my reservation. Never called or sent an email. I called them yesterday and could not talk to a manager. Called back today and they said to call Marriott corporate. So they took my money and never let me check-in or stay there. It's absolutely abysmal customer service. Marriott corporate is no help. If you're fine having them charge your card for $760 and you not get to stay there, then go ahead and book your stay here. Also CAUTION to families traveling from states away, imagine driving all this way to find out you have no place to stay and they took almost $1k of your money. I've stayed at Sawmill Creek before which is a beautiful resort and the only reason I booked at the Fairfield because of my loyalty to Marriott. Do not prepay here, they will take your money. I should have paid more attention to the 1 star reviews on google, trip advisor, and yelp.

We spent more time looking out the window than watching TV. Fishing charters take a long time, and we had a great day on the water. The only negative was the last morning we had a smoke alarm go off multiple times the last morning we were there. We had to get up to go anyway, but none of us smoke so it was annoying that we had to deal with this multiple times. Truly strange but it is what it is. The price is a little high, I expect the summer pricing is even higher but this location is so nice.

Wow what a Rip Off ! I paid over 200.00 for a sub standard room…read more I was o first floor near the LOUD music until midnight, hallways were busy until 2 am with loud drunks. walls are super thin. Room shades are not darkening which was a pain. Bathroom towels super thin and bath towels are kid size. ironing board had no cover Wall heat/cool unit had broken pieces. My door key would not work 8 times and kept having to get new keys. Bathroom sink plunger was missing so had to constantly run water to shave. shower head was like tiny and something from the 50's if looking for a decent place to stay in Pirt Clinton Avoud staying here.

Stayed here with a couple of friends so we could take the Jet Express across to Put-in-bay…read more Start with the room(s): We got the "suite" which was basically two rooms with the middle door opened. The one side had no water (the sink was there but the water spigot didn't work). Also no middle table between the 2 queen beds. Bedspread on one bed had a large stain (unknown origin, don't want to know!). Also no toilet and no shower on the one side. So the suite is like a military dorm room for low ranking military "boots" like I was back in the day. I've actually stayed in better squad bays on several military bases that were better equipped with this no-frills suite that we paid $260 for. Never again, we'll go across to Put-in-bay and pay less and already be on the island. Drinks and food: The bar downstairs after 8pm turns into Dante's 3rd level of Hell and the food is probably microwaved.... from the outside bar (which has limited shade so if it's hot bring your own beach umbrella) we ordered the grilled boneless chicken wings; tasted like someone diced up some frozen chicken breasts and tossed them into the microwave, then threw some watery and feeble attempt at buffalo sauce into an aluminum foil plate. On the good side of the wings, they ARE real chicken, and the "buffalo" sauce did not taste bad, it was just watery and lacking any kick. They should change the name to watery semi-buffalo flavored chicken chunks. The price wasn't bad either, about a pound of chicken chunks for $11, which is reasonable for a beach bar. The pina-coladas were great and perfect on a hot day. Pool area: Pool was small but seemed clean. Couldn't use it because it was full of heavily intoxicated folks almost completely surrounding the pool sides so we couldn't even get in without having a sexual harassment complaint lodged against us for accidental groping. Parking: Ample parking. Location: Directly across the street from the beach and a very short walk across the bridge to the Jet Express to Put-in-bay. Assessment: NO

This is not a 5 star hotel, but I give it 5 stars for the following reasons…read more.. * This was my 5th time staying here ( Waterfront Room, 109) and it is CLEAN, with new things like a large screen TV, Cherry Wood entertainment center, large dormitory sized refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, carpet and wood table with chairs. Room smells nice. * The back deck and private marina offer pretty views of the Portage River and the Port Clinton Yacht Club. * It is literally 2 blocks from the Port Clinton Jet Express terminal for trips to Put-in-Bay. Leave your car at the hotel...no drinking and driving, and no extra cost to park your car. * There is an on property bar on the river called The Bait House, that has fun drinks, live "Jimmy Buffett" style music (Boat Songs), comfy seating, fire pits, corn hole and again, steps from your room. * There are several restaurants close by, including MCCARTHY'S Irish Pub and Restaurant, Rosie's Bar and Restaurant, A la Carte (Nice Breakfast and after-hours spot), Sloopy's Pizza (local place that delivers), Marco's Pizza, Subway, Wendy's, and Bootleggers...all within a few steps or a couple of blocks. * The folks who run it (Deb) and the housekeepers are very kind, and make efforts to keep it looking pretty with flowers and free of tourist messes. * The WiFi was good. This is NOT a newer hotel. This is an older building without an elevator, so be sure to book a ground room if stairs will be an issue. There is no breakfast. Please understand that this is a hotel that offers waterfront charm and convenience to places close by. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean, comfortable and adequate.

Don't to go to Port Clinton with cheap friends. Otherwise you end up at a place like this…read more If you have a notion in your mind of a dumpy hotel, your expectations will be met. You're paying for being two minutes from the ferry, not for decent accommodations. If you're looking to cozy up with your loved one this is not the place. The average guest is here to get drunk and pass out. Contrary to other reviews I did not suspect drug use and was not scared. Other hotels are scarier. The bed was soft when drunk, but hard when sober. It wasn't terrible but I had my own pillow. Old ass dirty bed spread where you didn't want to touch your face. Ya know. It looked like grandma's bed spread that most hotels abandoned 20 years ago. The bathroom was the worst part of the room. The toilet ran unless you jiggled the handle. Shower curtain had mold. Some weird out of place exhaust fan that was dusty and yucky. Toiletries were unknown and scary, wouldn't use them. Positives were a mini fridge and flat screen TV, even though we didn't watch it or want to touch the remote.

"BED BUGS" BEWARE…read more Worst stay ever. We had 4 rooms for a family reunion. 1st we got there and the bed was not made in 2 of the 4 rooms. So they had to come and change them. 2nd pull out bed had no sheets on the shelf so I went down and ask for some. The girl at the desk didn't understand so she had to come to the room so I could show her. Then she finally got it. 3rd I started to make the fold out bed when I found a bug 1st one was not a bed bug. The other bug that I saw go into the hole in the mattress was one. Went downstairs to talk to my brother-in-law who said he had also found some. He then inspected the other rooms and confirmed that they all had bed bugs in the room. Oh almost forgot pulled the window shade to look out the window and it fell down. Plus the window had a very nice view but had all kinds of bird shit on it.

Well I take that back, it was right next door to an ice cream place. The hotel is old and looks are outdated. Pool area was nice with seating outdoors where you could sit, eat and view the lake. There is a $100 incidental charge. When I woke up the next morning there was an additional $100 on my debit card. I questioned the front desk and got absolutely NOWHERE! No one could answer any questions and had difficulty articulating English as well which is very frustrating. I'm not rich so to hold $200 made me irate. I asked how to get ahold of a manager and was told that he only works from home. Wtf. I dont think that's a work from home job. The money was held all weekend so I wasn't able to do other things that I had planned on doing! Also on a side not the toilet paper is awful and will break off in your butt while you're trying to wipe. Seriously cheap! Also not enough parking.
