It dives deep into the mindset, the comfort measures, the birthing positions, and everything you can do to prepare yourself for a smoother birth. I found myself benefiting a great deal from this class. It was also a intimiate in-person class that you can practice different techniques and ask all the questions you have in mind. As a first time mom, you are faced with so many unknowns. Jaely's prenatal visits where we made my birth plan and Childbirth Preparation Weekend definitely made my husband and I feel as prepared as we could going into labor. I have been attempting to put into words the impact Jaely had on my birth experience for two years. While I wrote a testimonial about Jaely's work as my doula soon after my daughter was born, it didn't fully articulate the influence Jaely had on my wonderful birth experience. Maybe because I didn't fully understand the profound impact my birth experience would have on my first two years of motherhood. When my daughter was born in September of 2020, doulas were not allowed in my hospital. Despite not have her physical presence and hands on assistance, I still believe she is the number one reason I had an empowering, beautiful birth. She fully prepared my body, head, heart and my resilience prior to my birth so I felt fully informed and empowered by the time my first contractions started. In the early stages of labor, she knew exactly when I needed to just chat and when I needed quiet to go inside myself to ride the waves. She was by my side (literally in my purse) while I rode the 10 minutes to the hospital during transition as I roared into the night. Despite my phone dying and losing her actual voice in my ear, I still had her incredible lessons to rely upon. I was able to advocate for myself and my birthing choices even while I was in the height of transition. I have never felt so empowered in my entire life. Yes. It would have been incredible to have Jaely physically by my side throughout labor. I am convinced the 3 hours of pushing would have been cut in half due to her vast knowledge of birthing positions to help move the baby out. Still, thanks to Jaely, I roared my precious girl into this world 100% on my terms. It's been more than two years since she came into the world, and Jaely's impact on my motherhood is still apparent. Starting off motherhood with such an empowering birth, set me up for success for the challenges of parenthood. Because I had such a positive birth experience, I was able to carry that empowerment into the postpartum experience without the trauma from birth that so many face while also having a newborn. I am a truly a better mother because she was my advocate and guided me to a positive and empowering birth when I first became a mother. If Yelp offered 6 stars, Jaely would receive all of them!!! Delivering during COVID creates a ton of uncertainties. Jaely made it all much better. She joined us in the hospital and helped us make better birth and labor decisions that were right for us. This was my third baby and experience taught us that so many doulas out there try to force laboring moms into making the "right" decisions like avoiding epidural. Jaely listened to us. She was always available when I had questions before, during, and after the birth. She moved heavens and earth to make sure she can make it on time when we needed her in these really uncertain/unstable times (while taking care of two little ones of her own at home). We hired Jaely to be our doula back when we first got pregnant.
