Despite the clinic being small and occasionally having people around, we still visit because we appreciate the support it provides. It can be a bit awkward to browse the racks while navigating through the line, but we always manage to find something whenever we stop by in the area. read more

The employee managing the back sales was rather cold and did not let my friends and I go inside unless we entered through the front door (even though we spent a lot of time looking at the $2 sale items in the back). They have a lot bigger attitude about picking up donations than what is evident in their store. I've shopped in their store on a number of occasions, only to realize that it isn't any better than any salvation army or Goodwill store anywhere else. They came to my property to look at a table & a papasan chair and refused to take them because in their terms they were l"ess than quality condition". The driver seem to have a big stick up his ass and an attitude that he should probably be saved for the dance floor at station 4. If you want to donate something to charity and be treated with dignity and respect donate someplace else. read more

I love this place and their mission. They're very affordable besides the boutique items but they have high quality stock and are well organized. It can be hit or miss with what they have due to the smaller store size but I would happily spend my money here knowing it goes to providing free healthcare to those who need it. Visited the outside part behind the store where they host the $2 items. After going through the items in the blaring heat, I was ready to go look at the inside items. There was a large man w/ a beard guarding the door who overheard me ask my partner if we can enter through the opened back door and he said the only people he was allowing into the store through the back were those who were planning to pay for one of the items they were selling outside. He said everyone else has to go all the way around to through the front. After enduring the heat and being denied access through the back door due to us not having an item we wanted to purchase yet was incredibly frustrating. It's a shame because we had a large box of clothes we were planning to donate. Decided to leave and donate it elsewhere. The staff/ownership need to be more wary that their customers shopping in the back in the texas heat should not be made to walk all around the shopping complex to enter the inside portion just because they don't have an item in hand to purchase yet. This was my first experience in the community and left a sour taste in my mouth. I will not be in a hurry to return anytime soon. read more

This place is terrible - don't use their service to come get furniture. Had some items which were literally brand new and they didn't take it. This store has lost its mind! It use to be a decent store. Old worn out dirty tennis shoes $18 and $20 a pair, shirts from Walmart and Target $12 and $14. Just a plain wooden trinket box nothing special, not antique or anything for $30. Old mix match saucers and cups $5. It may go for a good cause but this is ridiculous! I always really enjoy this store however the manager can be difficult for no reason. I was going to buy some bric a brac today but asked him to hold it for an hour (after I paid ) as I was going to go to church . He said no & was just quite dismissive. What's weird is they let you do it on furniture & also he knows me so not sure why he was being difficult. Not the first time I've had him make up store rules. As an LGBTQ+ member of the community, upon my parents passing, I wanted to donate their furniture to Out of the Closet so as to benefit our community. Because they can only pick up from the curb and are not bonded to enter the premises, I paid almost $1000 to have all of the furniture moved out of the house into the front yard. After showing up several hours later than scheduled, the driver declined to take EVEN A SINGLE PIECE of the furniture that was in my parents' thoroughly middle class home. The furniture remained in the front yard overnight and I ended up having to pay another $750 to have it hauled away this morning. A massive customer service FAILURE. Do not rely on these people. They cannot be trusted. read more

The store was so clean and organized,and there weren't any junkie or dirty items anywhere, and that is extremely rare for thrift stores! Michele was very helpful also. This place truly donates 96 cents out of every dollar. When I donate here I feel like my clothing and belongings donated are being recycled in a purpose to help others. This out of the closet like most have hiv/std testing daily. It is by donation for those that can afford it. Those who can't are openly welcome. These are services that should be promoted and part of preventative care. What out of the closet does for the health of its community is outstanding. Special place to go in that special part of Dallas. They have a great selection of not just clothes but shoes and other assorted items. Staff is always very friendly. They have a clinic in the back that performs STD testing and also dispenses medication to those who can't afford to pay full price. I've used both the clothing store and the clinic before and both are top notch. A portion of their retail profits go back to the community. Speaking of community they are located in one of the most fun little neighborhoods north of downtown. The night life is really a blast. Also free condoms! read more

I loved this store! As soon as I walked in I saw a big dog. I love dogs! The dog owner let me pet him as he finished paying for his items. Clothes & furniture- if you are coming for any other reason, you may leave disappointed. 2. Great deals- this place is unparalleled in the deal department. Every week, there is a tag color that makes certain clothing 50 cents. Jeans, jackets, slacks, and more. There's also a dollar, 50% off, and 30% off tag. Furniture is always 50% off. Most of the time, women's clothes are 50% off. I've gotten barely used Ugg's for $10 (retails for $150). I've gotten a barely used Patagonia jacket for $6 (retails for $229). The clothes are in good condition, with no holes or stains. 3. Employees- nice and friendly. Dogs are welcome. 4. Great cause- Proceeds go to HIV/aids testing and treatment.
