Careful with this business...I spent $2400 on a small landscape project. Let me start by saying I needed assistance with this type of project because I don't know very much about landscaping. I worked with Danielle who was great (only reason for 2 stars). The project consisted of 4 Rhododendron and 5 or 6 Cherry Laurel. Well one of the Rhododendron died and the Cherry Laure were infested with some type of white flying insects to the point of destruction. I called with the hope of resolving the situation and they were very responsive. Danielle acknowledged that the Cherry Laurels are prone to these white flies (maybe would have liked to have known that the first time) and suggested replacing with 2 Viburnum and 4 Cat Mint. Then I find out this replacement project will cost $1350 with no cost to replace the dead Rhododendron. At first I thought the total replacement price was going to be $675 which I thought was reasonable...but that was just the 50% down payment. I was going to back out of the project but did not want to deal with the insect infestation so I reluctantly moved forward. They completed the project and it looks kind of pathetic. They did not remove any weeds that were under the Laurels and they did not re-mulch the area. The plantings are sparse and very underwhelming. I could have done better myself. So after spending $3750 with the company, my suggestion is...do it yourself or shop around. read more

After giving my address, company quoted me $307 to do the work. When I received their bill, it was $604!!!! Twice what I was quoted! Bad business practice...baiting with their quotes. read more

Watch Out folks! You are giving this guy a blank check when he does his "estimate". read carefully as you are quoted a MINIMUM charge. He got me, as I did not catch that and charged me twice what I thought, over $800. To do a leaf clean up! And they did a below average job. They did a great job! I asked Them to dig out quite a large garden bed. It was done to the exact specs we had discussed, edged and mulched. They were very timely as well, out first thing in the morning and done within an hour! The only reason I rated them 4 stars Instead of 5 is bc the edge is not as sharp/deep as I would have liked. I hired Kirk's Lawn Care this year based on his positive reviews and good quality jobs pictured on his Facebook and webpage. I requested the installation of 11 yards of mulch and the beds edged. The application of pre-emergent was awfully pricey at $200 so I opted to do it myself. The estimate was well itemized and the price was competitive. However, I was unhappy with the automated request to pay 50% to secure the estimate. It was a large job so it was a big hit before I had any idea on how soon/late the job would start. Paying a portion up front might be common practice but not from any landscaper I used in the past. We communicated frequently on the job and expectations, how the beds would be edged, and the unusual boundaries of my yard along with the beds scattered throughout it. I asked that he give me a day's notice, at least so that I could apply pre-emergent. After waiting almost 4 weeks for the install, I received an email when I got to work in the morning saying they are doing my job today. When I reached out to Kirk with questions, I received an apology for the lack of notice and that they had last minute scheduling problems. At the end of the day, I came home from work and saw that they did an excellent job. I immediately noticed the mulch was installed up to the grass edge. When beds are properly edged, there should be a trough between the mulch and the grass - this allows for better maintenance of the edges and mulch when cutting and weed-whacking. It did not look like a shovel was used to edge the beds. Additionally, one small bed was missed and it was strange that they did not install mulch up to some of the plants at the front of my house. I was mostly displeased over the ~5" x 7" dark, grease stain on one of my pavers and footsteps from that point to the end of the sidewalk - about 25'. The pavers were just power washed and polymeric sand added the week prior. Kirk immediately responded to the 'grease' saying it was smashed berries from my bushes and that his crew must have tracked it over the pavers. I firmly indicated that I did not have any bushes with berries and that it was a grease stain. There was lots of communication from here over the phone and text. I finally got him to the point where they would come out the following day to fix the problem areas. They installed mulch to the bed they missed, missed the perimeter around the flowers, and provided a futile attempt at scrubbing two pavers and blowing it dry (and the polymeric sand out of the joints). All of this was caught on video and little to no effort had been put into cleaning the pavers. Communication with Kirk was extremely difficult and his responses were awkward and never left me with an ounce of empathy or care. I was a job, a number to him. He later said he would send out his operations manager to take care of it. His ops manager, John came out, and it was clear from his contact with me, via phone and in person, that he was sincerely sorry for what had happened and he would do whatever it takes to resolve the issue. I got none of this from Kirk. Well, it took a few attempts, over a few day, using a few products, but John came through and saved the day. The grease stain from the 10-15 pavers was completely removed, and once the pavers were thoroughly dried, he came back and reinstalled polysand in all of the joints affected by the scrubbing. Oh, and mulch was placed around the flowers in my front bed. The only reason I gave as many as four stars for review of this business is because of John's hard work and commitment to make the job right. Thanks John, and to Kirk's crew, for a job well done. I'm sure this was a one off for this business. If you choose to hire them and have your beds edged, insist they do not bring their edging machine - It is not nearly as good as a shovel and it caused the stain on my pavers when they set it there to rest during the job. I'm told the crew hates it and they are trying to get it eliminated as their primary/sole tool for edging beds. read more

This is my second and last year with Kirks. This summer has been rough but their schedule is too full to allow any flexibility. Today I was given the option of letting them mow a soaking wet lawn or postpone to next week. They 'will not be in the area.' When I then chose to postpone I was told that I would be charged the bi-weekly (higher rate). They do an o.k. job but get yourself someone that's not too busy to do the right thing. read more

He took great care in planting a large row of evergreen bushes to make sure they were properly spaced and lined up perfectly. I have hired Kirk's Landscaping to mow my lawn while I was away on vacation, and now, that I've grown tired of spending my weekends cutting the grass instead of taking it easy! Each time I have set up service with Kirk's, Kirk was very accommodating to special requests because of my pets and bc of no one being home for an extended period of time. He is very conscientious about closing gates, etc. (SUPER important if you have pets!) and also taking care of details - edging, weed-whacking, etc. And I really appreciate not having to write a check and send payment through the mail.
