They're not on top of each other, although you can see your neighbors. The staff was wonderful--incredibly friendly. They sell wood if you need wood (for a fair price, too), and they have books to borrow in the check-in cabin if you want a book to read (and movies if you have an RV, or a device that plays movies). There are some decent features to the grounds, also. They have a playground on the campsite, as well as basketball hoops. Right outside the campsite is Thompson lake, where you can fish, boat, and kayak. They have a pretty big disc golf course, which we enjoyed, and some hiking trails. I would definitely come back to this campsite. I'm a big fan of Recreation.gov, and this was one of the better ones I've been to.

We stayed here when the tornado occurred on 8/18/21 and we were fine. The tent kept us nice and dry and it was beautiful and sunny after the storm. If you like hiking, there are some descent trails around the lake and the airline trail is also nearby. Putnam is also a cute little town that is worth a visit. Walmart and grocery stores are about 10 minutes away too. This years hosts and the hosts in 2019 were both incredibly friendly and helpful. They did a great job at keeping the place well maintained.

Gosh, where to begin? We were going to pass through CT to…read moremake it to PA to spend the night when our diesel truck started having serious problems. I quickly looked for a campground hoping they could take us, and that the truck could make it there. As we came limping in, Josh met us to help us quickly park. It soon became apparent, we were going to need a place to stay for several days. Doug, the owner, worked with us in every way, to ensure we were welcomed and would continue to have a place to stay while our truck was being taken for repairs. What a beautiful place to spend an unexpected week. The lake, hiking and amenities are amazing, but the best thing about Wilderness are the people! Saturday night Doug and his wife, Holly, hosted a gathering. We immediately felt right at home with so many friendly people, it was like a family gathering. We even won a gift card to a local restaurant!! We stayed for a week, and now we have a new favorite to add to our destinations! Because many of the state campgrounds have been shut down due to budget cuts - Mark C and I were…read morescrambling for a campground to host our annual camping trip. We were looking for a reasonably priced campsite, that would accommodate our large group, but we also wanted a campground where we felt like we were camping. Many of the other private campgrounds we came across fit maybe 2 out of the 3 requirements but we had a hard time finding a campground were we actually would feel like we were in the woods. Luckily our diligent search led us to Peppertree Campground. After a series of questions (which was totally understandable given our group was 20+) we were able to book 3 sites that were next to each other and near the river. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, set up our site and enjoyed what the campground had to offer. And what they had to offer (for the price) was so much more than what we ever received at a state campground. Clean bathrooms, real showers, a river to swim and fish in, AND Wi-Fi. It was great. Some might be upset that there is no pool but the river cooled everyone off just fine! The campground does have a lot of seasonal RVs but they are mostly families and couples. We never had to worry about loud noise (other then the river). The kids loved the river, playground and the field - playing for hours while the adults relaxed themselves. We loved this campground so much that we booked for next year before we left - we found a new place to love and want to make sure we have our "spot" next year!

Blasting music till quiet hour while harassing weekenders who drive 1mile over the 5mph speed limit? Then this place is for you. Fear not if you've run out of booze, there's a fully functioning bar down back. Bored? Have you ever been in a knife fight? Well that happens here to. The owner (Kim) doesn't keep track of paperwork or your deposit so I suggest you do. It's the same crafts for the kids it's been for the 5 years we were seasonal. The electric is severely outdated and the WiFi isn't strong enough to actually use it. Dogs are allowed to bark nonstop and if you complain be ready to be told "that's what dogs do". The upgrades to the campground are nonexistent but the upgrades shes made to her house that's on the same property are definitely noticeable. Just know your money isn't going into the campground it's going to her house. Just go to George Washington. It's right down the road. It's quiet, peaceful and clean. No drunks and excessively loud live music. It's a campground not a bar.

When we arrived with our EV we were told that charging is $25 a stay, which is fine. Unfortunately after a day of driving and having to drive again the next morning I needed to charge again and someone else was parked in spot not charging. Obviously not hotels fault but most places do have a sign parking for EV cars while charging. The room was overall clean and walking in you notice that they tried to use some "Modern" technology. The massaging chair was a real bonus, but unfortunately ours didn't work properly. Instead of peep hole I think they installed cameras with a screen on inside of door. Our screen didn't work at all. Again not a deal breaker. It was just a little disappointing to have these amenities and not have them work. With that being said yes I would stay here again. It was clean and newly renovated. Lots of restaurants and stores nearby. It definitely worked for what we needed for a couple nights.

When we got to the room, it started 1. King bed pushed against the wall / no way to access one side. 2. Bathroom door wouldn't close, literally. 3. No shampoo, conditioner or soap / containers were empty 4. Beautiful glass barn door on shower wouldn't stay closed. 5. Grab and go breakfast was non existent. 6. Early next morning, 3-5 employees of the cleaning staff decided to have their morning discussion outside our door. Really?????? For the record, My wife and I are retired and travel 3-5 months a year on the average. We filed a formal complaint with Michael White, The Director of operations and Sales / Chief Operating Officer. He stated that he would be traveling to the hotel early next week and would look into the situation personally. (Good lip service) He also stated his disappointment in our stay and indicated that that his hotel has an exceptionally high satisfaction rate. Based on past experiences staying at the Hilton, Drury Inn, Marriott and Hampton Inn we figured that the hotel would discount the stay or comp one of the nights. 2 plus weeks later we still had not received a response. I dropped Michael a short reminder note. He responded a week later with a short note indicating that he had looked into it and that the Hotel would not be anything more. Crickets......... So, i'll repeat myself. This Hotel won't last too long. No need to bad mouth these guys. They'll finish themselves off with their lack of customer service.
