This is one of the craziest and fun things we've ever done with the family. We have 3 teens in tow and they we're ALL thrilled to ride the Jetovator!! Our guide and teacher, Justin was made for this. He's personable and patient. He gives you a great cheer even when you wipe out spectacularly. Don't think you are just going to jump on this water gadget and zoom around the sound. It takes a few tries to get the hang of balancing on the Jetovator. You're in water that is shallow enough to cushion a fall but not fear drowning. Justin takes his time with each person and with a little practice, you really can get the hang of it. Tips: -Layer on sunscreen and bring it with you - Pack some snacks . - This is an activity for a group but you ride individually. Bring cards or water toys for entertainment until its your turn. -Wear water shoes - While floating on the raft, it was nice to have sun visors. Overall, this was a super fun excursion and definitely worth the $$$!!!! read more

I've been anticipating my first water hoverboard experience for years, and boy did Jetovator live up to my expectations! The owner/driver/guide (Justin) is a patient coach who gets you comfortable fast and ensures you are up over the water being awesome for most of your time. He makes recommendations, provides positive encouragement, keeps you safe, and seems to be having as much fun as us! Justin also was generous with his time, very responsive over the phone, priced below his competitors, and even offered a very high-quality GoPro video for all three of us who attended for a very minimal added cost - probably barely more than he paid for the memory card on which it was stored. What an amazing experience! Justin and Grace are such great people. I have to disagree with a previous poster that this is like kite boarding, it is nothing like it whether you choose jetovator or the hoverboard. NOTHING like kite surfing which that other reviewer couldn't physically do either anyway so I'm calling BS on that 4 star rating when the company did nothing wrong anyway. And that's coming from a big girl myself. There's just no way. Pros: Justin is am amazingly patient instructor, very knowledgeable and doesn't give up on getting you in the air as learning how to operate the jetovator does have a learning curve only gained by trial and error. The ride out to where you fly is on a huge comfy round float (with handles to hold on but it's a slow ride out of the canal so no worries anyway). A big bonus for OBJ is that there is no charge for spectators like some other places who charge $15+ just to ride out and watch. I relaxed, tanned and laughed while my BF was learning how to make it fly. Once he got it up in the air and maintained his balance he was able to fly pretty high. He loved it! There is also no pressure on time, they are very generous with the time allotment giving you 2 hours. We were delayed a bit due to a part needing to be replaced earlier in the day so Grace came out so we could fill out our paperwork and be ready to go when Justin got back in with the previous group. That's great customer service! A huge plus was the ability to buy the video of the experience on an SD card from Justin's GoPro for only $20. They really don't nickel and dime you like other places we've been, as in no charge for non-riders to tag along on the raft (other places charge $15 a person!). For $20 you get a SD card of your entire "flying" experience. Super glad we opted for it as where the raft is left for those waiting for their turn or just watching is just a bit too far to get any really good pics plus you don't have to worry about getting your phone wet. Cons: The ONLY negative is the difficulty finding the place. A big sign at the main road where froggy dog is and a bigger sign at the 2nd right you need to make onto the dirt/gravel road off of Bonito would be really helpful. In their defense there was a sign at the last turn but we didn't see it, we were scratching our heads as to where the place was bcuz it was all residential and missed the small sign. Definitely recommend OBJ for anyone looking to do something new and exciting (how many times can you jetski in a big square seriously?!). An experience you won't forget. 15 minutes from Hatteras area and an hour south of kitty hawk area. We'll definitely be back again next year on our yearly trip to see what new equipment Justin brings in next year. Great people, great company, awesome experience! Thanks! read more

This was one of the best experiences I had while visiting Hatteras. Justin was incredibly nice, and knowledgable and went to extreme lengths to ensure we had a good time. Our first run was a little shakey but by the second I felt like a pro. Also got unbelievable go pro footage. This is absolutely worth the cost and would recommend this to anyone! read more

My 8 year old brother was able to fly the Jetovator, and so was I. The instructor was very nice, and took us out on a floatable "couch". We got more flying time than we payed for, and it was a great experience, hopefully I can do this again. read more

Justin was very accommodating to our entire family and he was a terrific instructor. It was exciting and thrilling even in the rain. It is a wonderful introduction into a new and fantastic sport.
