We showed up on a day where the island didn't have internet, and were able to pay cash and sign our waivers so we could still rent kayaks. $30/hour for each which wasn't bad. We got to take them out ourselves and were given some suggestions of routes to take. The owners were kind and helpful and happy to answer questions. It seemed like the jet skis were the hot commodity though, with people having to wait for jet skis to be returned before they could go out. This might've just been due to the internet outage not allowing for online reservations. read more

They seemed very unorganized. We called a few days ago to see what the prices and other information. The woman on the phone told us that you couldn't make reservations and to get there a half an hour before they actually open because it's first come first serve. We showed up today, a half an hour early, and no one was there. Other parties were arriving, but it wasn't until ten or five until 10 am that two employees showed up, a man and a woman. My party was the first to arrive and when the man asked us what activity we were doing and we told them jet skiing, he pointed to another party and said, "They have a session reserved for 10 am and they called three days ago." My party looked at each other and said, "We called a few days ago and you guys said you couldn't make reservations and to show up early." His response was "We do for larger parties. It just depends on who you talk to on the phone." It seems like they only have two people working...and if there's other people who work there, why wouldn't your employees know the same policy. Never did anyone say when we called that reservations are only for larger parties... The party who "called 3 days ago" were filling out paperwork for literally 20 minutes and it took us maybe 5. They didn't actually get on the water until close to 10:30. After we got our paperwork filled out, we headed back to our beach house to wait until it was our turn and half of us ended up not wanting to do it. We called and said that we weren't going to come back and the man said, "That sucks. We've been turning people away." We simply said, "It also sucks that you told us that you can't make reservations and it was first come first serve, but the other group did. We aren't going to do it." This whole situation was BS and so unorganized. The man especially was an asshole and this place really needs to get their story straight. Everywhere I've ever worked, all of the employees know the company policies. This is not worth it. read more

We are vacationing on the Outer Banks and were looking for something exciting to do. So we decided to go jet-skiing. We chose this place because they offered to match the price of any local rental place, and they offered a $7 off coupon on their website. The place is easy to get to, very well maintained, and pleasant overall. There were a man and a woman (presumably the owners) who were there getting everyone in their rentals. In my opinion they seemed overwhelmed. They could benefit from having some summer help to get people checked in and out on the water quicker. We waited about 25 minutes to get on the jet-skis. They gave a thorough safety briefer, and told us how to use the jet-skis. Once we were on our way, it was a blast. The jet-skis were very fun. I averaged about 30mph on the water, although they claimed we could go 55mph full throttle. The people working there said that the jet-skis are "regulated" so that they can't go over a certain speed, which I guess is understandable, but I didn't get anywhere near 55mph. Here are my only two complaints. Because you are jet-skiing on the sound, it is very shallow water, and there is quite a bit of seaweed. This means that the jet-ski will suck up seaweed, and becomes basically useless. You have to stop, get off the watercraft, reach under it, and remove any seaweed stuck underneath. I had to do this 5 times while I was out on the water for an hour. We paid $99 for an hour, and I spent probably 15 minutes removing seaweed from the machine. This gets kind of annoying. If I were to go again, I would choose a place in much deeper water so you don't run into the seaweed problem. Secondly, you are limited to a specific area where you can ride the jet-ski. You can't just free-roam. There are flags that designate where you can go. The farthest out you can go is about a half mile from the shore, and about a mile along the shore lengthwise is where you can travel. Overall it was very fun, but for the money you shouldn't have to worry about getting off every ten minutes to remove seaweed. The people are very nice, and the jet-skis are well kept, but just be aware of the aforementioned "limitations". read more

we have been friends with the owners for probably 6 years now, and every year we come down we make it a habit to go to hatteras water sports. we love this place. super friendly owners, sweet set up, a ton of different kayaks, wave runners and sail boats. its a nice place to spend a few hours just sitting by the bay and having a good time. The wave runners are always a great time. Everything here is a great price too !! Its the cheapest on the island for sure and worth every penny!! Go check them out! read more

We decided to go kayaking while on vacation. This place has good prices and great customer service. There was plenty of exploring that can be done in an hour. They have jet skis, SUP boards, sailboats, and other activities to choose from. Easy to find off of highway 12. Will definitely be back! read more

Family friendly. fun water sports. something for everyone. We found this place during our trip to Salvo purely by accident. The family who own and operate it were knowledgeable about all the different types of water sports they had available. They were so nice, friendly and we had a blast with them while we waited for our party to come in off the water. We went early on a Monday morning on June 9th and rented 3 jet skis. They were new and very good units. We split time and them and most of us broke the 40mph mark. Was a good time and didn't have any seaweed issues. Will rent again. read more
