Don't go-- or plan to be in and out if you have environmental sensitivities or are right wing.

THe center is downstairs in a basement level, door is on Church Street. Inside they have all sorts of books and publications, newspapers, and magazines. Music, rainbow wind chimes, hemp products, oils and incense, anti-war tee shirts, COOL BUMPER STICKERS and pro-environment type products. This place reflects and feels like a way society should be.

Are you flexible, open-minded, and like to work in groups? Well, then, you should definitely check out Volunteers for Peace, peeps. Earlier this year, I starting pining to travel 'cause it's been quite a while since I've traveled abroad. A friend who did several volunteer camps with VFP recommended I try them out. They offer short term placements in about 200 countries (check out the website for all the details) in all kinds of capacities: environmental work, education, arts, manual work, you name it. There is a $25 fee to join, and a not-too-hefty registration fee when you apply for a camp, some of which is refundable depending on where you are working. Oh, what can I say about Volunteers for Peace? I just returned from a 16 day excursion in Greece doing beach clean up and hanging out in a fire tower, and it was pretty spectacular. It's a great feeling to travel, connect with new people, and at the end of the day do a little bit of good for the community where you're working. Volunteer work camps might not be for everyone - it helps to be open-minded and outgoing - but I can't recommend it enough. Do yourself a favor and check them out!

MFCC is also the local food shelf which has collected and contributed much needed non-perishable food to the less fortunate and to those who need the extra help. From lying about COVID cases contracted at school to denying employees a mandatory short break (just to name a few)... it seemed like an ugly situation from my point of view. I know how hard it can be to find childcare, and there are also certainly some positives at this small neighborhood school, but based on my perspective, I would encourage families to look elsewhere.
