Selfishly, I love this stop because it's right next to my office, making it the perfect commute. But this stop is much needed as it's in the hub of Bellevue. Just like other stops on the 2 Line, it's easy to find and access. But this stop will get you right next to The Bravern and city hall, and is walking distance to several office buildings, the transit center and Bell Square. Like I said, it's the hub of Bellevue. I've noticed on certain days, the train has more people riding during the middle of the week, with more people working in the office. But it's never crammed and everyone is able to find a seat on the train. I'm happy that the Bellevue Downtown Station is along the 2 Line, which eventually will get you to downtown Seattle. But I'll take what I can get for now, which is either towards the South Bellevue Park and Ride and downtown Redmond. Glad to have this stop in a convenient location, walking distance to many popular spots.

While the station entrance is elevated, you need to walk down a flight of stairs to the train platform. The platform is surface level on par with I-5. This station does have parking available, 494 parking spaces to be exact. However, the location is not close to anything other than the stadium. There is no retail development near the station. It seems like a station intended for nearby residents to park at and take a train into Seattle, as well as a connecting location for bus commuters.

It began its history as a park and ride, allowing residents to take public transportation into Seattle or the East Side. The station is within easy walking distance of the town center, with construction effort being spent to make the walk pedestrian friendly. It also has over 400 parking stalls and serves as the transportation hub of the city/island, with buses expanding out to other parts of the island to the south. It is an island-type outdoor platform, that is located on the median of Interstate 90 (which connects Seattle to Eastside through Lake Washington, via a floating bridge). It has two entrances/exits on opposite ends and its important to exit the right one since the area is very traffic heavy and would require using pedestrian safe walkways only. The station is operated by Sound Transit, and cost is $3 one-way with free transfers for two hours. They recently implemented tap-to-pay, meaning one can use their credit card to pay, eliminating the need for a separate Orca card or phone app. Another thing of note is that this station is an important stop on the '2' line going over to Seattle, using the World's first light rail system using a pontoon bridge. Seattle has many pontoon bridges (necessitated by the depth of Lake Washington) built to allow cars to get around Puget Sound, but a train bridge (requiring train tracks that flex with the water's motion) was a lot harder to implement. It was finally done for mass use in 2026, making the Mercer Island station an important stop connecting Seattle to the Eastside.

This includes 12th & Jackson. Lately I've been reflecting on this intersection. It wasn't always a bad part of town. I remember visiting this neighborhood as a kid. My family shopped for groceries at Viet-Wah. We ate at this one Filipino restaurant at a strip mall. I think it was called Tropical Hut? It was a welcoming, thriving business district of services, dining, and retail for multi-generations. Things took a turn in the late 2010s and hasn't recovered since. Jackson Street, the streetcar route from Pioneer Square up to Little Saigon, used to have a vibrant music scene. I read up on the Jackson Street Jazz Trail and the Seattle Self-Guided Green Book Tour. Seemed like it was the place to see and be seen between the 1920s-1960s. I'd love to see interpretive signs and markers celebrating those spaces and artists. If you still need a music fix you can hop on the streetcar and visit the Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, and Elvis statues on Capitol Hill. Some people catch the streetcar for work at Harborview or Swedish. Some might catch it up to school at Seattle U or Seattle Central. The streetcar shares the road with other vehicles, bikes and scooters. It's painfully slow compared to the light rail and buses. Transit enthusiasts and tourists might test out the streetcar this summer. Consider it a leisurely scenic route. The South Lake Union Trolley is empty and boring af (I honestly don't know why it's still operating) compared to the workhorse First Hill Streetcar. The First Hill streetcar carries a diverse crowd. It can get crowded if there are major events like the Capitol Hill Block Party, festivals in the C-ID, games at the stadiums, or art fairs in Pioneer Square.

It is situated in a central location in the neighborhood, so you do not need to walk more than a couple of blocks from the station for the majority of destinations in this area. The station is underground, so it takes some time to reach the platform. Would recommend using the elevator located at the station entrance if you are in a rush to catch a train. Though in general, the wait for a train here is not very long.

It's an odd way to build a station but here we are in the 2020s. There are only two platforms. One that goes south and one that goes north. After you exit the elevator, look up to see which way to go. Each platform is only maybe 100 yards from each other so it's not like you can choose wrong. Just hope your train isn't arriving if you do go the wrong way. It's a fairly busy station but slowly becoming less busy. With the amount of gentrification happening, youre seeing less and less BIPOCs here. There is a bus station outside of the station that can also take you downtown or towards Chinatown. Outside of the station is a coffee shop called "The Station" which I highly suggest. There's no ride and park area here. So you gotta either know the area to know where to park or maybe hop on at another stop.

It runs every 10 minutes during daylight hours, and is one way to go to Microsoft's main campus. The cost is $2.75 each way with free transfers, most easily accessible via an Orca card (rechargable on-line, but not yet replaceable with a smartphone). We used the NE 24th St & Bellevue Redmon Rd stop, which was covered and had a display showing when to expect the next bus. It's a busy route, serviced by an articulated bus for both routes...definitely too long for streets (and corners) not equipped for it.

I like this RapidRide route. It is the only one servicing the Eastside. B Line travels between…read moreBellevue Transit Center and Redmond Transit Center. The bus services downtown Bellevue, Crossroads, Overlake, Microsoft and downtown Redmond neighborhoods. The route replaced two King County Metro routes, 230 and 253. Basically combining these services to offer more frequent service that were faster as they skipped bus stops that used to be serviced by the old routes. The RapidRide buses are new and have free Wi-Fi. You can also swipe your ORCA card to pay for your fare at the bus stop card reader before the bus arrives. This allows you to board the bus at one of the exit doors rather than having to pay at the driver side door upon entering. In general, buses run every 15 minutes for most of the day. During weekday rush hours, there is service every 10 minutes. While in the late evenings, there is a 30 minute wait. I don't use the bus often, but do when I am headed to the airport as I can take this bus to connect with the Sound Transit route 560 at Bellevue Transit Center. Though it takes longer to get to the airport, it saves me a bundle over parking at or taking a taxi/Uber to the airport. More often than not, it takes longer to get where you need to on public transportation. But I think this RapidRide line is great since it is convenient and is helping to minimize the delay. Particularly useful when I need to get to downtown Bellevue in a timely manner.
