Since the business was sold, however, my experiences have been consistently frustrating and disappointing under the new ownership team -- particularly with Skyler, who appears to control all major decisions. Communication Issues: * It is nearly impossible to do business without going directly through Skyler, yet he is only in the store one day a week and is slow to respond online. * I have often been told one thing by staff or other owners (that they are interested in certain items) only to have Skyler later respond with "no longer interested," even on items the store later purchased from someone else. Inconsistent & Selective Business Practices: * I brought in a full set of The Office Funko Pops, complete with verified HobbyDB values, offering to sell or trade at a fair percentage. I was told they had "no interest," only to see them buy the exact same set from another customer weeks later. * I have significant store credit from past transactions, but they have repeatedly refused to let me use it on certain in-stock items (such as Pokémon singles), even though those items are sold in-store under the Pop City name. * The offers made on items I've brought in have been far lower than expected based on past Pop City practices. Recent Incident: * After being told they were buying Funko Mystery Minis, I prepared and bagged a large collection, complete with researched values, and brought them to the store. Staff even sent photos to ownership, but I was told again to "message Skyler." * Skyler's eventual reply was abrupt and dismissive -- "not interested" and a firm refusal to consider store credit toward Pokémon cards. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile given I have never had a negative exchange with him. Why This Matters: Under the previous owner, Pop City had a reputation for fair trade values, consistent practices, and friendly service. The new management has shifted to selective, opaque, and, in my opinion, greedy business practices. Customers deserve clear communication, consistent policies, and the ability to use store credit on in-stock merchandise. Additionally, I believe their selective refusal to honor store credit on certain items raises potential legal concerns and is something that should be looked into by others to ensure compliance with fair business practices. Bottom Line: If you've done business with Pop City in the past, be aware -- this is not the same store it used to be. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend doing business here under the current management.

All of the employees engage in conversation and I love that they have the sticker pillar that we can add to each time we go in. My kids love it there too and there's such a large selection of pops and other collectibles at fair prices. This is for sure my first pick of places to get new pops and toys. 1000000/10 recommend!

I recently witnessed an interaction at Hobby Lobby that was disappointing. A group of young girls…read morewere looking through the squishies section and appeared excited to browse the products. At one point, a worker stood there next to this group of girls and waited for them to leave. There was a toy accidentally dropped and picked up by debbie, when one of the girls was trying to pick it up. What concerned me was the way an employee named debbie spoke about the girls afterward. She referred to them as "sloppy girls" and "brats" and complained about them within earshot. Regardless of whether merchandise needed to be put back, I found the comments unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. One of the girls tried to pick up the toy, but felt uncomfortable by Debbie being there, staring. Young customers deserve to be treated with the same respect as any other customer. Retail employees certainly deal with challenges throughout the day, but speaking negatively about customers where they can hear it creates an unwelcoming environment. I hope management addresses this and reminds staff to treat all customers with courtesy and professionalism.

If you want to find people to play Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh with, every Saturday they have tournaments. You like magic cards, there is almost always someone in the store playing magic but every Friday they always have some magic event happening. You like painting figurines and playing war hammer, they have a section set up for you and every Monday is night where people come to paint there figurines. Outside of this they have a great cafe. They have your standard coffees but my favorite thing is they have a ever changing specialty drinks special that changes season to season or if their is a big nerdy event happening. On of my favorite drinks I had was when they made drinks inspired by and to celebrated "Detective Pikachu". The biggest item for me this store offers is their board games. They have a ton of demos you can play in the store and cafe or rent to take home. Every Tuesday night and Sunday their is a community that comes together to play some board games. If their is a game you want to play and not sure you want to buy it yet, come to these events. If you go often enough and I am sure someone will bring your game in and you will get to play it. For me, these events are like a midweek Christmas, always looking forward to them. As for their events, what I have said does not even scratch the surface. Game Have always seems to have something coming down the pipeline. They have Mini-Cons, Halloween events, psychic and fortune-telling events and so so much more. They support local vendors and artists and just as a ridiculously amazing community. Not to get to personal but Game Haven's community is very inviting and accepting. From their customers, to their employees, to the owner himself. I was very anti-social and depressed a few years ago but Game Havens community accepted me, and I have met some outstanding people and made some life long friendships. A lot of these events have been suspended due to the pandemic but once everything is over, I encourage you to come to this location if this is a community you want to be a part of. Come to one of the events, have a cup of coffee or tea, sit down and as long as you come with a positive outlook and are understanding and respectful, you will have a fun and outstanding time that you will not soon forget!

If you're looking for a card shop where passion and expertise shuffle together like a winning deck, Overtime Cards is the place to go. This isn't just a store--it's a sanctuary for card enthusiasts. From sports cards to Pokémon treasures, Overtime is the 1952 Mickey Mantle of card shops: shiny, valuable, and worth bragging about. The employees here are true card lovers. Seriously, I think one of them could identify a rookie card from across the room with just a glance and a whiff of the cardstock. They know their product so well it feels like they moonlight as consultants for Topps and Pokémon International. But what makes them stand out is that they don't gatekeep their knowledge. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just someone trying to figure out what a "rainbow foil" is, they'll treat you like you're bidding on a Babe Ruth signed card at auction--VIP all the way. And don't even get me started on their prices. Other shops might try to charge you "one kidney and a pack of gum" for the same stuff, but Overtime's prices are almost suspiciously good. I'm talking "did they discover a hidden stash in Area 51?" good. This store's competitive pricing is the reason my wallet is lighter, but my collection is so much richer. In short, Overtime Cards is the Hank Aaron rookie card of shops--an absolute legend. Whether you're hunting for the next big hit or just looking for a place where card talk isn't followed by awkward silence, you'll feel right at home here. Oasis Games has a wide variety of games, but we specifically love to go and purchase Magic The Gathering cards. They seem to always have a consistently rotating amount of stock with cards ranging from the first series ever, all the way to the most recent release! They also offer a website for traded-in cards inventory that can be accessed from home, and you can pick up in person, or even access it with one of their available computers in the store! Most of their prices are reasonably close to MSRP, but where they really excel is in their sale value! They provide a fantastic store value percentage that is greater than every other game store I have ever been to. They also offer fun game nights and pre-release events (check their website for dates). Highly recommend Oasis Games for your next gaming purchase!

Conveniently, this shpp was a minute away from the Chinese restaurant we just had lunch at. So we made our way in. This toy store was literally a time capsule of our childhood. There were toys from when we were little that we totally forgot about. Rainbow Brite, Teddy Ruxpin, My Little Ponies, Mr. Potatoe Head. It brought back so many fond memories playing with these gems. You can find a little of everything here. It was neat looking at all the different collectables that the store had. My husband of course gravitated to the Transformers since he's an avid collector. There was a Soundwave that caught his attention but they were asking for 350 bucks for it and the box was pretty beat up. Maybe if the box was in better condition, my husband might have considered purchasing it. I overheard the gentleman behind the counter tell someone that they will be closing this summer. Sad hearing that since novelty stores like these are a rare find. It's hard for small businesses to compete against these big stores selling the big shiny new toys. Who needs a shiny new toy when you can get a dope ass old collectable to hang on to! We did leave without the Soundwave. We both felt bad leaving without buying anything but nothing really caught our eye. I hope that this store stays open a little longer than just summer. Small businesses are the back bone of our community and we need to support them. We will be back in SLC in October and fingers crossed that this joint will be open when we come back.

Indeed, it was a dark and stormy day on this visit and going down a set of stair into the inner recesses of the building sort of lent that vibe. It is a very cool place, chock full of stuff, ranging from action figures, some of which I haven't seen in over a decade, to other, much more recent stuff, displays as dioramas, arcade cabinets, and a veritable host and slew of other items. Right when you walk in, you will be in a front area with a ton of comic book action figures, always a welcome sight, but there is quite a lot more as you progress further and deeper into the bowels of the store. These kind of places sort of live and die on a couple of things, which are, namely, selection and price, and on both counts, this store excels. Not only can you easily spend hours sifting through the magic on the shelves, but I didn't find a single price I thought was out of line. Most of them were quite reasonable, in fact, which is nice to see, given what the toy market has been doing in recent years. This seems like another passion project and the owner is quite pleasant to visit with as well, so with any luck, this one won't stay super under-the-radar for too long. Probably one of the better toy hunting experiences I've had in recent years and looking forward to the next!
