In addition we paid the delivery charge and then spread the mulch ourselves. Loading each bag off the pallet and then moving them to the natural area is always a huge undertaking. This year we decided to have 8 cubic yards (more than the equivalent of 200 bags) delivered by Farmers Mulch and Rock. They offer a nice variety of mulch to choose from. The mulch was delivered the next day. The driver was very considerate to ensure that he dumped the load exactly where I needed it and was careful to avoid running over my edging and keep the mulch off the grass. Since we live less than 5 miles from the store the delivery was free. I've hired someone to spread it for me this year. The cost of the mulch plus the cost to pay someone to do the job is still a couple of hundred dollars less than if I had purchased it from Lowe's in bags and had it delivered. We've purchased rock from them in the past and our experience with the delivery drivers has always been positive.

It was my first visit to Blowing Rock, so kind of what I hoped it would be. One of the fun shops was Final Touch which offered home decor from a lot of local crafters. Prices varied a good bit, based on the items, but they had paintings, and weavings, felt art and much more. The reason for the 4 stars though, for being a real arts and crafty area, I was disappointed to see the stained glass they sold was no doubt imported. The pricing on the stained glass items was far too low for a local to have made it. As artists ourselves, I wish they had kept with the local arts theme, low prices like that take business away from local artists, and give them no chance at competing. In my mind a small town touristy town like this should promote their own citizens and artists.

We reached out to the company we bought these through and they agreed that they look nothing like they do on Vaughan Bassetts website. The company we purchased these through spoke with Vaughan-Bassett and we're told that the pictures on their site aren't meant to be a final representation of the product, but to just show what the product design looks like. And that they can't help it if the finish is different. This furniture cost a lot of money. And we specifically went with this furniture not only because it looked good on their site, but because it was 100% wood American made. But if this is the type of product this company is going to make. Stay away from them. If they don't care how the overall product looks when it gets to the customer. Don't trust that company.

Another year at Mistletoe Meadows and it was again wonderful. I grew up with plastic trees and as…read morean adult have always loved getting a real tree for Christmas. We've come here for years and love it. This year, they've made some changes to the flow and it seems improved. The usual things are there such as the wagon rides and the large fields of trees to choose from. The trees are tagged with colored ribbons which indicate the size and price. You pick a tree, wave someone down, and they will cut and bail it for you. Alternatively, you can also cut your own. They have a large barn area that grows a bit every year. You can get a cup of hot chocolate, hot apple cider, or a cookie for free. You also get a free small wreath with every tree, and there is a nice selection of larger wreaths and garland for purchase. After paying, you get back in your car and line up for pickup. Present your tag, and they quickly load the tree on top of your vehicle and tie it down for you. This area is rearranged and improved in efficiency compared to last year. It was quick and easy despite a busy day (Saturday after Thanksgiving) and long line. Prices go up year over year, which is unfortunate consequence of inflation. I'm glad they accept card payments and not just cash. But for the service, the quality of the trees, and the size of the farm, I don't mind the price. They are easily my favorite tree farm and are a family tradition!

Mistletoe Meadows has consistently been my favorite place to go for a choose and cut tree! Upon…read morearrival you are greeted by a giant snowman that lets you know you are in the right place. You drive down a gravel road to get to the parking area and the barn which kinda serves as a home base for your experience. The parking area is themed with signs for streets named after reindeer which is a nice touch. You walk up the hill to Santa who greets you and then gets you on a hay ride out to the field. You ride out and are greeted by an employee who gives you the information on how to view prices, where to look for trees, and how to get an employees help once you have your perfect tree. They are available with chainsaws or you are welcome to use a handsaw to cut the tree yourself! The field had a great variety of trees all well maintained and in various sizes both in height and width. Once you have your tree cut they shake and bale your tree while you take the hayride back to the barn. At the barn you are greeted with fresh wreaths, garland, and mailbox decorations (don't forget to pick up your free small wreath that comes with every tree!) They also have restrooms and free refreshments (hot cocoa, hot apple cider, and cookies!). You enter a small checkout area where you can pay for your tree and pick up some minor tree essentials (lights, stands, or funnels). After paying, you drive your car to the side of the barn and give them your tag and they load your tree up for you and you are on your way! Overall everyone is friendly and the little touches such as the free refreshments and the free wreath make this my go to stop for a tree every year!
