Wally's service is a part photo op and part gift shop and tourist trap located in historic downtown mount airy North Carolina aka Mayberry. Wally's is the the Andy Griffith show famous set that is the workplace of lovable characters gomer Pyle and goober. The outside has towing trucks and the facade of the business from The show. It also is surrounded by other famous props like the darlin farm, the cannon, and the old jailhouse. Inside is a decent sized gift shop That sales all kinds of Merch and products from the show. This is also where you would book your town tour in sheriff Andy Griffith police car. It is $50 per carload if you choose to do so. Overall a cool place to browse and take some fun photo ops. I did not do the car tour as it wa just two of us and you can drive to all the same sights for free. But I'm sure it would be a fun and memorable thing to do.

    Gomer wasn't working today.

Wish I could have gone inside but it was closed due to COVID. But I did peak through the window and there was a nice old time general store. Just walking around by the Justice of the Peace office and Wally's was great. I talked with a guy in a Mayberry Squad Car (Ford Galaxie for you fellow gear heads). Really cool place if you're a fan of the show.

A cool gift shop and they do the cop car tour from here. Didn't do it this time because of the cold wet weather but the drive you around town and show you all the sites.

My family had a great time here. The people were all funny and nice. I would highly recommend taking the squad car tour. It is 40 bucks for half an hour and up to 4 people can ride in the car. The drivers have all kinds of inside information about the Andy Griffith show and my family learned a lot. They take you to all the highlights from Andy's days there around town. Our driver was really funny and gave us great suggestions on where to eat in town. After our tour we walked around high street and our driver honked at us each time he passed with a new tour. It really was fun.

Welcome to Mayberry...I felt as if Andy himself was gonna walk out of the courthouse at any time. We arrived later in the evening, so everything was closed, however we enjoyed walking around & taking pictures...sharing a few of my favorites.

Really cute, friendly and helpful with information

Very friendly and information on the whole city... the tours in the old police car from the Andy Griffith show start here I think. This is a very quaint little place full of character

Enjoy a rocking chair out front while you have your bottled soda as folks get picked up for the squad car tour.

I didn't end up getting anything so I felt a little bad but my friend ended up buying some apple butter BBQ sauce so I didn't feel too terrible. If you feel like eating insects, you can buy them here. Yes, insects! The guys working upstairs were nice too. It's more traditional souvenirs and the tees and hats named in the store's moniker. I picked up a cute Blowing Rock sticker with a bear on it which was a tiny bit expensive, but yay.

First of all, the website says the store closes at 8:00, so we were surprised when it seemed like they were closing earlier. The employee working repeatedly told us that they had brought everything in for the night and to be careful, which I completely understand. However, the way it was communicated made us feel like we were in the way rather than welcome in the store. My family didn't notice, but I personally heard the employee say, "They need to leave," in a very rude and disrespectful tone while we were still inside. They changed the sign from 'Open' to 'Closed' while I was still inside the store, which made me feel like I was being rushed out and was not welcome there. Overall, it was not a great experience. I understand wanting to close up for the night, but there are much more respectful and professional ways to communicate that to customers. It definitely left a bad impression, especially while we were visiting on vacation.
