Everything is beautifully arranged, from the furniture, to the paintings, the jewelry and sundry home decor and collectibles. The quality of everything, particularly the antique watches and mirrors was unusual. It seems as though the owners are particular about the items they select for display. The store has a bright and open feel, probably owing to the large windows and the loft that in itself made you feel like you could curl up on the furniture, pick up a book and relax with a cup of tea. Although I didn't find anything I had to have, I was certainly tempted. Perhaps I'll give in to temptation on what will certainly be my next visit.

Some of it looks classic and vintage while some of it looks upcycled and handmade. I saw a lot of fine jewelry - diamonds and pearls and rubies oh my! - and I fell in love with a couple of pieces of large furniture. It's a two-story shop, so take the time to check out both levels. I'd also suggest coming back here frequently as things change out on the regular.

The ladies in the shop were so nice they greeted us right away and let us know if we needed anything to let them know. I picked up several things shopping a little early for Christmas. Probably what sets this place apart is the owner, an adorable, chatty woman who talks to all her customers like she's known them forever. During my short visit we covered the usual weather, my "accent", her son's military experience, and, with respect to her business, her love of floral designs. She proudly pointed out the silk flower arrangements she does for special events, for general purpose wall hangings, and for wreaths and displays for parties, weddings, funerals and even as grave markers. If you do stop by, bring cash in case you see something you like, since the Sage House doesn't take plastic, despite the sign on the door.

Upon walking inside, we saw an array of items including candles, jewelry, greeting cards, baby related items, etc, etc, etc. and everything was beautifully arranged. We learned from the woman working that the majority of the products are from local, woman owned small businesses. We ended up purchasing several gifts and my wife appreciated that they were expertly packaged in a nice gift box. We also learned they are on Instagram and my wife began to follow them right then and there so she can keep in touch and shop online as well. Elegant Relic is both a home furnishing store, with a fair mix of redone antique items and modern equivalents. But they also have a cute clothing boutique that has some unusual items. There's a vintage vibe to everything. Maybe it's the subdued lighting, the scented candles and the hardwood floors, but everything is well displayed and draws you in. The clothing in the upstairs area (hen feathers) has a bohemian feel with mostly unstructured garments, but that might be owing more to the time of year than anything else. Although I didn't find anything I had to have, it was nice change of pace. The owner directed me to quite a few items on special and owing to her salesmanship skills, nearly had me buying it all. She wasn't pushy about it, though, and that itself was pretty remarkable. For the most part though, when I preferred to browse without a sales person following me around, the Elegant Relic staff let that happen. It's not a particularly inexpensive store, but they are consistent other stores of this kind. Elegant Relic does have something in nearly all price points though, and enough to let me find a nice gift without breaking the bank.

As far as the bottom floor, there were some interesting quote boards and other wall accessories. This was one of my last stops as far as antique stores in Mebane so I didn't really check the prices.
