Today, excellent food and service by college bound lady. Party of three had their great tenderloin and chicken strips.

We stopped in for a Thursday evening meal. There's lots of seating and two pretty good sized rooms. Hubby and daughter had a beer. We shared a southwest chicken wrap with crispy chicken and it was really good. The fries are crispy and tasty. Hubby had a chili dog and said it was awesome. The chili was really good. One grand had chicken strips with a huge bowl of cottage cheese. Another had a hotdog and it was really big! Food came quickly and the help was pleasant. It's a nice place to stop. read more

Finally made it into the Owls Nest after years of visiting my parents in Panora! A divey bar and grill that serves the Mainstreet and is the main bar in the area. We popped in early evening on a Friday, and there were only a few folks in. We opted for bar seating, though there were two large rooms of space. We were just here for a pre-dinner drink. They don't have happy hour, but they DO have $2 Busch Lights at all times - that's a deal! Service was friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat here, but food being brought out to other tables looked like pretty standard bar and grill / fryer food. Will definitely recommend this to others looking for a casual bar in the area! read more

Was there Feb. 10, 2024 we were a large party that made a reservation well in advance the restaurant even called us to confirm. When we arrived they were not prepared for us. We had to arrange tables and chairs in the room that was reserved for us. The waitress (bartender) came after a few minutes to take our drink orders. She couldn't tell us what beer was available, a few went to the bar to look, then she brought back incorrect beers. Then took our orders, then we waited and waited and waited. Finally after about 45 minutes food started to arrive. Many of us ordered the same things, burgers, tenderloins nothing fancy all on the menu. Some burgers were huge and thick, others were flat and burnt on the outside and not pink but raw inside. When they were bringing the food out they informed three of us who ordered tenderloins that they ran out! Wish we would have known that sooner so we could have reordered and got served somewhat with the rest. One ordered a grilled chicken sandwich to replace the tenderloin it came out within five minutes. Barely cooked, they did not finish eating it. Rough experience all around read more

Horrible service. Waited over an hour and a half and still no food. When asked about our food was given an attitude and said "we are shirt staffed I can't do anything about it. But a family came in after us got their food and was eating . Will not be back and will let friends and family know about our experience. read more

Surprisingly excellent steaks. Good burgers and solid bar food. The down check comes from the service which can be hit-or-miss. Bottom line, if they look crowded and you want to eat at a normal pace of delivery go somewhere else. But if they're not too crowded try the fillet... they've been great every time i've ordered them. Really enjoyed this place. I'm new to the area so I've just been there once so far, but my food was great. Friendly and prompt service, reasonable prices, and the other patrons made me feel right at home. Was pleasantly surprised that the clientele consisted of more than just farmers, not that there's anything wrong with them, but was looking for a little variety that evening and for the middle of almost nowhere Iowa it can sometimes be tough to find. I was really looking forward to eating here on a Friday night. Nice environment (sports bar) when we walked in. We sat ourselves and waited 15 minutes for them to come take our drink orders. I ordered the 8oz filet medium well and my husband ordered the ribeye. Waited a half hour to get our meals. Side salad was tiny, but maybe the best part. My steak was a hockey puck, fries had enough salt to cause a heart attack, and the worst part was the hair I found on my toast! Even after we told our waitress about it she didn't do a thing about it. Worst $40 meal I have had! read more

Weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated, but another group came in and sat down, so we did the same. The place was very busy, so we were very patient with the staff. The group that came in before us bussed their own table since there wasn't any clean tables in the entire place, so we did the same. The waitress took our drink order after about 20 min, which was a long time, but not ridiculous under the circumstances. She returned to take our food order 90 minutes later. An exceptionally long time, but we waited because they were so busy. Thirty minutes later, the cook came out and told us they were out of what we ordered. We did not order anything additional, but still waited another hour for our food. Luckily we had no where to be, so we waited. The food arrived and was inedible. Everything fried was burnt and had obviously been cooked in old grease. The signature pork tenderloin was a paper-thin fritter approximately silver-dollar sized. The chicken strips were rock hard, and we nearly chipped a tooth on the cheese balls. The philly steak sandwich was the only thing we ordered that wasn't a serious health risk to eat. When it came time for the bill, we had to request it three times, finally having to go to the bar and find it ourselves so that the nightmare would end. If you're going to Panora, better hit up the Casey's. It's the only viable option. read more

I walked in and asked for a menu. The waitress pointed to one on the little box where they keep them along witht he condiments. I said to myself, ok. I then took the menu and waited for the waitress to take my order. When I finally got to order my food I received the bill which came to $43 and some change. When I started asking her about the food I asked her if fries came with the stuff I ordered. She said no. I was like what? 3 small chicken strips was $6 or $6.50. The wraps were over $7 and so was the hamburger. With these prices at least we should get fries or a drink. I got home and the food was wrong. My egg on my hamburger broke and the bun was soggy. The hamburger was not even cooked well done like I ordered it. The wraps were in peices instead of cut in two. It looks like someone dropped one of them and put it back together with half of the tortilla gone. I will not eat there again. It is sad to see this because it is only one of the few places you can get food in this small town. By the way the chicken stips were also soggy!
