We used to LOVE the comfort food at Wobbly Boots when it was open in Clive (the old Cheddar's and now a sushi joint...not sure if the sushi spot is open yet or not).... Wobbly Boots closed 3+ years ago. I remember shortly before Wobbly Boots closed they had mentioned possibly opening a sister location in Perry, but I kind of forgot about it. I thought about it again in the last year or so when I started making my own version of a crab rangoon pizza at home. It's been a few months since, but Tin Pig had come back on my radar as that venture. I found Tin Pig online and sure enough the menu looked VERY similar with some of my old favorites. Today we made the drive over on 141 to Perry. We walked in and the feel was very much Wobbly Boots. A counter where staff greeted us up front, low and high tables and chairs, a few booths, and a bar to the Left. Same general motif. Rustic with a lot of wood, advertising pieces.... And the longhorns! TVs over the bar and on pillars down the middle of the dining room. I really didn't need a menu. It was that similar to the one I'd used for years...with a couple omissions but with a couple new additions too. We ordered the catfish BLT ($13), the crab rangoon flatbread ($14), a half order of the Texas fries ($6), a soda ($2.50?), and a water. Service was stellar! From being greeted as we walked in, throughout our visit, to when our payment was taken. Refills were prompt and we were checked on, but not bothered! The one little thing... While it was enough to fill us... The portion sizes are smaller. At least for the entrees we ordered. Granted we are 3+ years down the road and we all know things have changed. Businesses have fought to survive and the cost of everything has gone up. Don't let the mention of smaller portions detract you from making the short drive to Perry. It's worth the trip! But if you remember the truly massive portions served at Wobbly Boots it's something you will want to be aware of. The food tasted great! The catfish was cooked perfectly. The mac n cheese is still second to none! The toppings on the crab rangoon flatbread seemed a little thinner, but it was wonderful too. It was good to revisit this familiar food as my girlfriend and I have some really great memories of Wobbly Boots! https://tinpigtavern.com/

TIN PIG - Perry, IA - THIS PLACE WAS GREAT! We've never been, driven past a few times and it always looked closed, but we were thrilled to find out it is open and delicious! They were great with my service dog, too (although we stayed so long he got a lil tooooo comfortable!). Pretzel Bites: w/ queso: average. Would've preferred other dipping sauces but no biggy. It was still good. Crab Rangoon flatbread: was AWESOME! All the right flavors combined, we ordered this one as a shareable appetizer, and everyone enjoyed it (even the one that assumed he wouldn't). Buffalo chicken wrap: not chintzy at all, this was loaded and delish. More than half the meal came home. Buffalo had a touch of heat and this wrap wasn't soggy, as so many end up becoming. Tenderloin: good gravy this is a large tenderloin! About a minute or two overcooked though, but surprisingly still good! Definitely would have been amazing taken out just a bit sooner. Also came home with half of this beast! Smoked BBQ turkey sandwich w/ house salad: he says it was fantastic, and very juicy. House salad great. Cowboy Cobb salad: too many onions (I like onions but it was overwhelming). I should've scraped some off but didn't. Toppings were great and loved the ranch dressing! Brought most of it home. May add some lettuce so it's not so "oniony" Excellent service! We loved the atmosphere, service, vibe, and can't wait to make our way thru this menu!! -- at Tin Pig Tavern.

Cute restaurant. Locally owned. Love the decor and rustic vibe. Service was attentive and conversational. Food was soooo good (I forgot to take a pic of it because I was so hungry). They have everything from pasta, flatbreads, salads, and sandwiches. Had the rib-eye, such good flavor. Sides were mac n cheese, a little too watery for me, and legendary baked beans, sweet and meaty. Will definitely be back!

Beer flight from the co-owned neighbor brewery.

Stopped in for lunch. Burger was suggested by the bartender over the tenderloin as real good, tenderloin shown not to be that big for the price. Had the queso burger: open face, sautéed onions and peppers smothered in queso. Queso was okay, but thick and blah, liked the sautéed vegetables though. Got the Mac and cheese which was really good(large shell, cheddar cheese sauce) but portion was smaller than expected for the price point. Owners also have the brewery next door with their beers on tap at the restaurant. Is used for extra seating on weekends I was told. Had a flight, nothing stood out but the stout and marzen were the best. Untappd agrees with my opinion. Ambiance and building I liked, Service was good, also no cc surcharge which is nice. Overall sandwich burger was about $14-15 bucks high is high for this size of town away from the metro. Food: 3 Price: 3 Beer: 2 Service/Restaurant: 5

Mid ride stop for sustenance. Stepped inside to see the host before sitting on the patio. Big selection of food and local beer from Gamble Block brewery next door. Service was fast and friendly. Food was tasty but no vegan or vegetarian options that I saw. Overall really satisfied. I'd come back.

Buffalo Chicken wrap, and Texas fries

One of my families favorite places to eat! The atmosphere is welcoming, and service is always top notch. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. We've tried several different items off the menu but a favorite is The Griller. Also, make sure to get the Texas fries, you won't be disappointed!

My mom brought me here after the re opening and i was really impressed with the service. Despite how busy they were the food came out super fast. The cheesy dip slapped.

Had the mini beer shot, just like the the ones in Cancun. Crab Rangoon with chicken is a great pizza to try.

The service was very good for how busy it was inside and out. The food was delicious! We had the cod & chips (added coleslaw) and the German platter (a bratwurst, weisswurst, pork schnitzel, mashed potatoes & gravy, red cabbage and sauerkraut). There were various other items we'd like to try, so we will have to come back! It seemed a little high priced, but it is Ames.

The wide availability of British goods for purchase/take home (teas, sauces, biscuits etc) is adorable. The service was first class. The UK beer choices were wonderful despite not having Speckled hen available. I was torn between the fish and chips and the pork vindaloo having been a fan of across the pond fare for decades. I opted for the former. While the chips were perfect and the curry sauce second to none, midway through the meal I realized why I didn't love the fish. The batter. On advice of other reviewers I ordered the dish crispy and I think that helped but I finally realized not only did I not love the fish-the batter made me hate it. I finished the latter half inside out if you will and that made it acceptable. Maybe the vindaloo will turn my opinion but in inquiry I was told it was a medium hot-which in the Midwest typically means mild. Maybe next time.

Everything was clean and service was friendly. They have lots of cool merchandise and several to-go beers. They do serve food but I didn't try any. I only had a beer because I wasn't at my final destination but they have a pretty wide variety with lots of different styles. I went with one of their flagship beers-the Neon Hazy IPA. I really enjoyed it and even got some to go so that I could enjoy back in KC. Next time I'm passing through, I'm definitely going to stop and hopefully plan a little better so that I can try more beer and food.

I had experienced Barn Town at a beer festival and researched them before visiting town, so I know the experimental candy-influenced collabs are kind of their thing. The PB and Grape Jelly sour was nice and the Watermelon Sour Batch Buddies was the best of the State Fair themed bunch. Everything else packed too much of a flavor punch for me... to the point of upsetting my stomach which NEVER happens when I drink beer. I would actually go back and try some of their flagship (normal) beer offerings and food specials to get a more well rounded opinion of the brewpub.
