The material was previously used in another area of my home, but the vast majority was in good, useable shape, with the rest available for cuts. The contractor rushed the job, did not plan the layout, and stopped at 75% claiming he ran out of material. He then admitted he only allotted 2 hours for the entire job. He demanded full payment for an incomplete job, which I refused. He told me to buy 100 sq ft of a "close match" since my original flooring was discontinued. When he returned to finish, he completely failed to stagger the planks. He left an ugly, mismatched grid pattern on a quarter of my room that looks completely unprofessional. When confronted, he snapped at me, blamed me for not buying 10% extra (even though I bought exactly what he told me to), and stated he did not have time to fix it. He demanded the remaining balance and I only paid him to get him out of my house. Save your money and find a contractor who takes pride in their work and respects their customers.

What they created for me was a sturdy and attractive addition to my home, which some 20 years later continues to be solid and functional. Yes, I've had to replace some of the boards over the years, but that is due to the nature of wood, not the responsibility of the builders! About 12 years ago we had a major flood in the kitchen and decided to do a 100% remodeling project. Because of my previous positive experience with Piche Brothers, I again contracted with them for this endeavor. Virtually everything in the kitchen was torn out, leaving a room with floors, walls and the ceiling; nothing else. I purchased cabinetry and appliances myself, and left the rest to them. The results of their work was nothing short of phenomenal! Even today, some twelve years later, guests arriving for the first time immediately comment on the beauty of the kitchen. It continues to be a showpiece, and there has yet to be an issue related to the quality of their workmanship. Today I am in the process of initiating remodeling of 3 1/2 baths, and Piche Brothers is my only choice for a contractor! In reading the only other online review currently available of the company I cannot believe that we are talking about the same contractor; my experiences with them have been wonderful. They came in right on budget, arrived daily as promised, were pristine with their workmanship, cleaned up after themselves daily, and the projects were completed in a timely manner. I am a bit of a perfectionist, and everything about my experiences with the company has met my high standards. So now you the reader have two totally diverse perspectives to deal with in making a decision on contractors. All I can say in closing is that some people are never pleased regardless of what you provide them, and I strongly suspect that this is the case with the other reviewer.

Mark is the brother who managed our project and with whom we had most of our dealings. They were significantly over budget with no satisfactory explanation as to why and seemed to be resentful that we would want to know how it happened, they took significantly longer then they said, they didn't communicate or get our input when appropriate and Mark was unpleasant, illogical, had selective memory and/or was aggressive whenever any mildly difficult questions or complaints were communicated regarding the fact that the project was over budget, over time and communication was poor. We were not in a position where we were able to fire them, that is why we had to continue using then to complete the project.

Our township wanted a basic mortgage survey before we're allowed to put a fence up in our back…read moreyard. They gave us a list of surveyors and Kennedy was on it. Their quote came in $100-$400 less than every other surveyor on the list so we decided to hire them and sent in a $400 retainer check. Since it is the busy part of the summer we were told to expect 2-3 weeks before they could come out and take our measurements. It has now been 5 weeks and they still haven't shown up. After repeated phone calls asking when to expect them, the only response I get is, "Well...we can't really give you a date. Since everything is done outside it all depends on the weather. The rain really screws us up." I can understand that to a certain extent, but not being able to provide even a 1 week window for service is highly unprofessional and incredibly irritating. Because of Kennedy's delay we've already had to reschedule our tentative installation date for our fence. On top of this, there has been no discussion about how long it will take to get the actual survey once they've come and taken the measurements. My work hasn't been completed yet and I just want to be done with this company. I'll update this review if/when they ever show up. Update: I posted my initial review on a Friday. The following Tuesday is when the surveyors finally came out to my house. They worked for 3 hours and then came to the door to tell me they had finished all they could for that day. They were having problems locating something along our property line. (They never clearly indicated what the actual issue was.) But they assured me they'd be back to complete the work, and they had enough to get the drawing started. (Again, never indicating exactly WHEN they would be back out.) But...the 2 men doing the survey work were friendly and professional so I was happy that something was at least started. As it turned out, they came back the Friday of that same week and finished up in just a couple of hours. The courtesy of these 2 men bumped my rating of this company up a star. I bumped them up a 2nd star (to a total of 3) because it's less than a week later and I've just gotten a call indicating our drawing is done. They also ended up charging us $50 less than what they originally quoted us. I'm not sure if that's because the survey was easier to do, or they felt bad about the delay, but I'll take it. In summary, once they get started they do a fine job. It's just getting them out initially that seems to be the hard part.

Instead of replacing all the windows around the house like all the window selling people are telling us, Rob offered to fix the windows for a much better pricing. We are so happy with the result we asked them to remodel our three bathrooms. Again, their quote was better than the other 8 companies we compared with. Their timing and flexibility was better as well! Throughout the process of bathroom remodeling, they were extremely helpful, accommodating and easy to work with. From picking tiles and helping us with the pickup (usually pretty expensive), to going out of their ways to seal cracks for us on the wall and hanging paintings for my mom. They even offered to walk my dog when they were working with us. They are excellent at what they do. See images for the before and after of the bathrooms. We love our 3 bathrooms now. They were able to accommodate everything we asked them too. Including changing old electric outlets, adding a shower in the guest bathroom, and switching the vent to a heated vent. They even helped to fix my kitchen sink that a plumber failed after trying for 3 days! They are also honest people. I did notice a cracked window and Rob immediately ordered a new one and covered the cost. So they do honor their warranty on their work. Overall, would highly recommend them for their excellent work, very fair pricing, and being such good nature people!

After…read morecontemplating several alternatives for our home we chose to work with Dillman & Upton primarily considering our initial experience with their designer and our perception of their team's quality Beginning with our first conversation, we believed that our designer provided sound advice and guidance, had valuable experience, was knowledgeable, considerate, thorough, and accessible for advice, suggestions and questions. The designer proved out, thankfully. Interactions with the D&U office staff were overall good. A significant surprise was the assignment of both subcontractors other than D&U's usual team. While it is impossible to directly compare our subcontractors with D&U's longstanding team, our's did not have deep, meaningful, value added experience dealing with D&U schematics, overall design and details. This required or significant involvement of our time to interpret details of the blueprint to affect the design goals. We had to call our designer and adjourn major meetings several times for reinforcement of the construction details. Requesting and requiring that some work being redone and changed to conform with a specific design specifications. We had to be our own advocate for a correct job and request repairs for damages to our home (three walls which require our own sanding, priming and repainting). Most disconcerting we had to be our own on-site project manager. A very important aspect we believe dealing with D&U would have provided. Perhaps D&U will say this is over stated and normal construction angst. However, we do not believe it was completed in good faith, as contracted and representative. It was far more tension to get what we paid for wanted or believe was appropriate. In retrospect we believe that the subcontractors should've been highly versed in D&U design goals and had the ability and desire to fully comprehend blueprints and call D&U directly when necessary to discern and clarify. Is this the best craftsmanship that our community offers? Opportunity for improvement include addressing all of the above concerns. Additionally, the price, documentation and communication regarding change orders must be improved. We recognize that some contractors or self-motivated and completed high-quality work, the first time. At our projects conclusion the project, while painful several times, was mostly completed successfully.

Then, the previous owner had some valves replaced, and when their service person pushed on some pvc pipes that weren't properly secured, he broke the system, which eroded my whole side yard, and sent water up against our foundation. I called to ask about them coming out to fix the problem. They scheduled an appointment to come out on Tuesday. The scheduler was not very friendly either. After waiting for an hour after the appointment, they called and said they weren't going to service our address. So they are refusing to honor their warranty, and they refuse to tell us why they won't take care of their work! What a joke this place is!!

It might look pretty but if there's an issue don't ever think that the problem is a simple…read morefix....take a look behind the walls and you'll find that the entire job by Cantu was done incorrectly. The pictures will show many of the major errors. We had a bathroom renovation done by Mimmo and his crew in March of '23. Although tile choices etc were made by me there was never a discussion on a curbless shower install, no mention of it ever. The only drawings we received were of the cabinet design. However, a curbless shower was installed by Cantu in a second floor bathroom above our entry way. During install, even his tile guys were concerned about it but I was told it was too late to make changes and we would love it. From the minute the work was complete and the shower was in use, within seconds, the water not only accumulated in the shower due to lack of shower pitch, but it overflowed out of the shower and onto the main bathroom floor. This is a small single bathroom. Had the water remained on for the duration of a shower it would have run into the bedroom, carpeting and ultimately leak into the areas below. Mimmo returned twice and attempted to remove some floor pan tile and shave down the concrete to correct the pitch problem but also told me that this was to be expected and there was actually nothing wrong with it. And, I feel it's important to mention that the pitch issue cannot be blamed on his workers doing an incorrect install, as Mimmo was the only one "allowed"to pour and pitch the shower pan/floor. We were concerned and felt it was necessary to call in a different contractor for a second opinion. We were told that the pitch was not at plumbing standards (1/4 inch per linear foot) and, if it was not repaired, we would have long-time water issues due to the bathroom being located on the second floor above our main entry. Mimmo was highly offended by the fact that we had another contractor inspect his work and yelled at us on the phone. We requested a redo with a shower curb and he refused but said he would remove the tile and attempt to re slope the pan the shower. He said a curb could not be placed. Our trust was completely gone. We requested $5K refund, which was about 22% of what we had paid. This refund wouldn't even cover the price of the tile we would need to purchase for a new contractor but we felt it was just a good faith offer so we could all move on.Obviously that didn't happen. To our horror, here are the findings of the new contractor. From what we thought was only a pitch problem was a complete screw up. Yes, the shower pitch was off but also the huge glass doors were hung on plastic anchors into the drywall instead of into a stud (meaning at some point these huge glass doors could pull out of the wall and perhaps kill someone). The drain of the shower was incorrectly placed, the waterproofing was not installed correctly or adequately and, in addition, the tile was adhered directly to the waterproofing material. From a professional standpoint, there was shadowing on all the tile (meaning it wasn't placed smoothly in a professional manner), and the mudding on the walls was so excessive that there were huge curves on our originally straight walls. We hoped that would be it, but in addition, we found that two weight bearing studs had been cut through in order to place a niche! We had chosen a pre-made niche for install but Mimi's guys told me he never used them as they were too expensive. Instead he custom makes each one to save money. The cut out he made for the niche through two study was not supported, meaning after use and time it would have sunk, leaked and needed to be redone. In other words the entire shower install was done incorrectly from beginning to end. Waterproofing, pan pitch, glass door install, tile work, drain, and niche build out! If you decide to move forward with Cantu, know your bathroom may look pretty ...just hope and pray that you move out before the entire reno completely fails and you find out how the job was really done behind the walls!
