I just recently moved into a condo in Enfield with wall to wall carpeting that has been emitting an odd, funky odor since the warmer months have arrived. First, they did a thorough walkthrough/inspection. After the assessment, but before the service Robert gave a full scope of what the service would cost and what was included. No trickery here!! Just pure honesty and zero pressure!! They communicated well every step of the way, offered helpful tips on what may have caused the odors and shared their knowledge on future maintenance/up-keep. The finished result was astonishing!! Although the carpets weren't visibly awful, the before and after difference in color and odor has me "floored"! It smells amazingly clean and fresh and if it wasn't still wet, I'd roll around on it. They even got all the edges around the baseboards and HVAC vents!!! I decided that the two rooms to be cleaned would be the living room and a bedroom. The living room is essentially right inside the front door of the house and about 20 feet from the driveway and the carpet cleaner's truck. The bedroom was up a short flight of stairs off the living room, and at the end of the hallway in question. The living room is about 30 x 15 feet. I proposed that the only area of the bedroom carpet to be cleaned would be the open, non-furnitured area, about 150 square feet. In advance of the cleaning, I moved all the furniture from the living room. It totaled about 650 square feet. When the worker arrived, he said that he would only do the bedroom if I paid another $156! I then asked that he clean half of my living room (about 15x15 by his measurements) so that we would be well under the 360 square foot maximum for the two rooms/hall offer. He said he would do that "so that I could get a sample of their cleaning skills" but that he would not do the second room, the bedroom because it would be too much work for him to bring his equipment to the bedroom. He further said it was his option as to what he would be willing to do/not do. He then decided that "his services would not be a good fit for our job", that he would be leaving and that I should take up a refund with LivingSocial. He left. I called LivingSocial, and spoke with Victoria who required a lot of discussion to pin down exactly what would happen. She agreed that the terms of the offer, (above) was the entire offer and that it seemed clear to her. Apparently their policy is that they must attempt to contact the merchant five times. After that, I would be entitled to a refund of my $65. She estimates I might have to wait 2-3 weeks for that to happen.
