I purchased a LivingSocial coupon for $65 for ChemDry of Hartford that says, and I'll quote: "Voucher for Two Rooms of Carpet and One Hallway Cleaning (Up to 360 Square Feet) from Chem-Dry of Hartford County". I decided that the two rooms to be cleaned would be the living room and a bedroom. The living room is essentially right inside the front door of the house and about 20 feet from the driveway and the carpet cleaner's truck. The bedroom was up a short flight of stairs off the living room, and at the end of the hallway in question. The living room is about 30 x 15 feet. I proposed that the only area of the bedroom carpet to be cleaned would be the open, non-furnitured area, about 150 square feet. In advance of the cleaning, I moved all the furniture from the living room. It totaled about 650 square feet. When the worker arrived, he said that he would only do the bedroom if I paid another $156! I then asked that he clean half of my living room (about 15x15 by his measurements) so that we would be well under the 360 square foot maximum for the two rooms/hall offer. He said he would do that "so that I could get a sample of their cleaning skills" but that he would not do the second room, the bedroom because it would be too much work for him to bring his equipment to the bedroom. He further said it was his option as to what he would be willing to do/not do. He then decided that "his services would not be a good fit for our job", that he would be leaving and that I should take up a refund with LivingSocial. He left. I called LivingSocial, and spoke with Victoria who required a lot of discussion to pin down exactly what would happen. She agreed that the terms of the offer, (above) was the entire offer and that it seemed clear to her. Apparently their policy is that they must attempt to contact the merchant five times. After that, I would be entitled to a refund of my $65. She estimates I might have to wait 2-3 weeks for that to happen. read more

Needed moms special chair cleaned ASAP but had to have someone who had a portable extractor. Called a number of cleaning companies but Scott was the one who was willing to fit her in sooner than the others after I explained how she sits in this power recliner regularly because it's easier for her to get in and out of. Also, she naps in it daily. Mom is 99 today and in assisted living. Scott came just when he said he would, did a great job, and we even invited him to stay for a slice of pizza for moms 99th birthday party. Thanx, Scott. You were a lifesaver! read more

Scott from Chem-Dry of Hartford County was extremely prompt, courteous, and thorough. Our dog was sprayed by a skunk and Scott was able to provide same-day service. He worked a miracle in very short order and we couldn't be happier. Rugs floors, even drapes completely clean and odor free.As a bonus, he's also super nice. I was shocked at how low the price was as well. He could've gotten away with charging us double because we were desperate, but he did not add any charge for same day skunk service! I will say I read the other reviews on this yelp site. Glad that I checked Facebook and Google. The reviews that are one or three stars do not mention Scott by name. There are multiple Chem dry franchises in the area, so I can only imagine that the reviews are wrongly attributed. Give Scott a call, he will be in the best of hands. read more

I bought a Groupon for 300 sq. ft of rug cleaning. I was told that that was not for an area rug and I could only do 1 rug (88 sq. ft.) I went along with it anyway and made an appointment for 8:30 to 9AM today. At 11:00 I called them to see why they hadn't arrived and was told they were busy on 2 jobs and would come at 1:00. Tried to call again at 2:00 and they wouldn't answer the phone. SO . . . I cancelled the appointment, Called Groupon and got a refund, On my initial call to schedule the appointment they kept trying to upsell me to do other work, and I believe they didn't come because I did not buy more cleaning to increase the bill. I purchased a great Groupon Deal for Chem Dry to clean a loveseat I have had a lot of trouble with, the first one was replaced by Wayfair after I sent them photos. This replacement is even worse, it seems to have dirt, pills and stains that seemingly appear out of nowhere. When I called to make the appointment I opened my big mouth and told them that I had it cleaned by Stanly Steamer several months ago, (which did not last.) They said they would come and do the best they could for me. Well, two young men walked in, took one look at the loveseat and said something like "No way" and left with no explanation. Horrible customer service!! Took time off of work to be home for this cleaning appointment. The cleaner showed up almost an hour after he called to say he was on his way, walked around my house for 20 minutes making "assessments" only to insist that I purchase his add-ons for an additional $285 over my living social deal for $210. I said I was not interested in the add-ons and only wanted to use my voucher good for 2 rooms of carpet cleaning with a protectant worth $210. He refused to perform the service without the add-ons and left. Huge waste of my time moving furniture ahead of his arrival and taking time off of work to be there. I made an appointment to have my carpets cleaned online and received a call and it was scheduled for a Saturday. Days later I got an email asking if Monday or Tuesday would work and I told them that I already scheduled it and was looking for them to confirm this. No response. I called them and the confirmed my appointment for Saturday. I am sitting here, 4 hours after they were supposed to come, no phone call, nothing. The SOB does not deserve any star at all since he never showed up on the appointment day. I scheduled the appointment with Scott for 5/12 (Sat). With the email confirmation, I never thought twice before we spent Friday night moving all the furniure and other stuff out of two rooms since he sounded reasonable on the phone. I watied, watied...and never saw him that day. After a few voice mails and an email, I still have not heard anything from him. I guess he was determined to ignore me.
