This was a beautiful venue space. It's very spacious inside and out. The staff were soooo helpful and friendly in getting us everything we needed to set up the DJ booth. The bathrooms, outdoor space, indoor space were all perfect for taking pictures :) I enjoyed watching the process of the setup and breakdown. The entire wedding was beautiful start to finish. My best friend has his wedding here, and it is truly a gorgeous venue. He had a outdoor wedding in the summer, but it was never too hot because there was a tent set up outside with A/C. Inside is stunning as well, with all hardwood/marble floors. There is a bridal suite upstairs, which gets filled with natural sunlight during the day, making it perfect for pictures! read more

We attended my gorgeous cousin's wedding and had a blast! This place is enchanting and nestled off of the beating path near the outlets. We enjoyed an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and a 3 course meal. I would definitely recommend for outdoor weddings or events and to add an additional PLUS, we didn't get bit at all during the ceremony as the grounds were treated to prevent pesky and annoying mosquito and bug bites. We love weddings but an evening outdoor wedding with an amazing DJ dancing into the night underneath the stars is everything!!! read more

Charming place for a wedding. Even though it's in PG County, which doesn't necessarily evoke the feeling of a classy wedding spot, the venue and its grounds take you to a whole new world. I was here for a friend's wedding. There's plenty of parking. Unfortunately, it may be difficult to get here via public transportation. It's just a few miles from the National Harbor. Apart from the heat, which admittedly was a little stifling for the outdoor wedding, the nearly cloudless sky overlooking green hills, with the river in the distant background, cast a perfect backdrop for the wedding. The outdoor seating area also overlooks a small fountain and gardens. There's a large outdoor patio area where the tented reception was held. There's plenty of hardwood-floored ballroom space for an indoor reception too. I didn't have a chance to explore the upstairs but I'm sure it's beautiful too. Terrific venue! read more

This is indeed a hidden gem! Attended a wedding here over the weekend and I'm in awe of this venue. This weather had been very rainy the last couple of weeks and it even rained a bit during the day, but by the time the ceremony started, the rain held up and my friend and his wife had the beautiful outdoor wedding they dreamed of. The cocktail hour was held down near the fountain and it was picturesque! The reception was held adjacent to the mansion under a tent and with the uplighting and decor, it was perfect! Being that I was only a guest at the wedding, I can't speak on prices or working with the staff, but I would definitely recommend this venue to someone looking for an outdoor wedding. The only "issue" I had was that the restroom only has two stalls and they are very small! read more

This venue is absolutely gorgeous. We had our wedding there about a month ago. As we shopped around other venues in the DC area for months, it was a relatively easy decision to choose Oxon Hill. The venue and grounds were among the most beautiful for the price tag. Working with Gerai and the other staff members was great. They were responsive and super on top of everything. We recommend reading through all of the rules when you sign the contract so you don't have any surprises. If you have more than 80 guests and are having dinner inside the manor rather than under the tent the seating can get a little tricky. We used the library and the dining room for guests and had open seating and it wasn't as much of a problem as we thought. The downside was the hotel availability around the area. Tip: early November wedding at this venue is a good choice if you want to save money and have a pretty good chance of good weather. read more

Oxon Hill Manor was the setting for our wedding two weeks ago. My husband and I had completely differing opinions of what we wanted in a venue (outdoor/rustic vs. grand ballroom/library), and Oxon Hill Manor was the perfect match for us. It has a very elegant feel, especially inside the mansion with fireplaces, mantels, hardwood flooring, muted colors and high ceilings. But the grounds outside the mansion were also gorgeous - a lawn perfect for ceremonies overlooking the nearby harbor, a very large patio with fountains and plant beds, porches with columns...just gorgeous. We planned to have our ceremony and half of our reception outside on the lawn and patio, but as the day grew closer and saw that the rain was a certainty, we realized that we would have to go with Plan B. But neither of us were too frazzled by it because the rooms inside are just so beautiful! It turned out to be a very intimate event, and everyone had a great time, even with the rain. My only complaint is dealing with some of the staff here. When my husband and I first communicated with them, we were told that our desired date was available for the entire day. So we canceled our holds on other venues and put all of our eggs in this basket. But after we signed the papers and paid the deposit, an Oxon Hill representative called us and said that she'd made a mistake - the place was only available for the evening hours: 6pm - 1am. We had a hell of a time fitting our set-up, ceremony, reception and clean-up in that amount of time. We did it, but that kind of mistake shouldn't have happened. So if you're going to go with Oxon Hill for your wedding or event, which I highly recommend, be sure to communicate clearly with the representatives there. **Please do not contact me about wedding planning advice! My sister held her wedding at Oxon HIll Manor last friday and it is a beautiful spot for a wedding. The house is beautifully situated on a few acres above National Harbor. Since it's part of PG County parks, the house was far more affordable than comparable mansions in DC. The house was recently restored with beautiful wallpapers, wood floors and patios surrounding the house. There are formal gardens, a reflecting pool and a fountain which are all lovely spots to stage events around. Vendors were able to work well with the management and everything worked out perfectly. I totally agree with Jim K. I have done several client weddings at this location and every time, it is a process like pulling teeth. I have to say, in all of those weddings, I have NOT suggested Oxon Hill Manor....the couple came to me already having paid a deposit. Otherwise, I would steer them away. The mansion is beautiful and the upkeep is wonderful. I can actually give 4-5 stars for that alone, but the service is not great. I remember one particular event last year. Everything went over well, because the caterer and I took control and made the event move smoothly. The weather was absolutely horrible and that frustrated the bride tremendously. We worked with her to do the best that we could, even watching the weather tracker on my laptop to see where the breaks in torrential rain would be. I would think that since the weather was so bad (wind and rain), that the staff would be more accommodating to the feelings of the bride. In the end, I took the heat (as most planners do) for the lack of clarification from the staff of the manor. Even though, I was only brought in 30 days out from the event for day-of services. If you ask questions of them, make sure that they get back to you in a timely manner or you will NEVER get a call back! They also do not take great direction to contact the planner directly, when I make it CLEAR to them that the bride is not to be contacted. If there is a wedding planner involved in an event, why would you call the bride to make her uneasy about the HORRIBLE weather coming on her special day? That is for the planner to discuss with the venue on possible contingency plans. Overall...beautiful place...but the service is lacking and it does not seem to be getting any better! read more

Oxon Hill Manor is gorgeous. Yes, you're in the outskirts of the city, surrounded by construction - but once you step into the gardens you can forget all that. It's one of the only venues that can accommodate a fairly large wedding, the outdoor spaces are wonderful and the indoor spaces are just as beautiful, it has historical value, AND since it's owned by the Parks and Rec department it's somewhat cost effective. We heard that since it's government owned it has a bad reputation for being bureaucratic and hard to work with, but we didn't find that. In fact, the staff were constantly kind and nice, and while they DO have a lot of rules there weren't any rules that intervened with our night. If you're getting married in DC, check this place out. This location is beautiful both indoors and out. The problem lies with the staff. My wife and I had numerous problems communicating with the staff leading up to our wedding ceremony/reception. When I tried to move the hours up for our event, I was told to write a note down. "What would you like me to write?" I asked. "Oh, anything." was the reply. During that same meeting I had to verify that our event was on the 6th and not the 26th. Yikes. When we came to do a walkthrough with our caterer, which was scheduled with the staff before hand, the manager had no idea we were coming and simply stated, "Oh, the staff doesn't know my schedule and I'm busy for the next hour." What kind of staff doesn't communicate with the manager? Vice versa? Luckily the event went off without a hitch, no thanks to the staff and their unorganized, unhelpful way of running things. I hope this review disuades those who see it from booking with Oxon Hill. You're better off finding a location that understands the importance of customer service. read more

Hosted a wedding reception here for 150 people on a Sunday in February and it was breathtaking. Even in winter, the grounds were a great setting for our wedding photos. The mansion has an elegant vibe with plenty of space for dancing and a stations-style dinner; the space requires little decoration because of the existing wallpaper detail, grand fireplaces, and the dark wood library. We brought our own DJ and alcohol with no problems (although you cannot serve red wine without extra insurance). The venue provides their own tables and chairs, so if you are not picky about chair style (we weren't) you can skip the extra hassle of added rentals. Our experience with Gerai in contracting and leading up to the day was good, and she left us a small token as a wedding present. Could not have afforded a more beautiful wedding venue so close to DC and big enough to accommodate all our family and friends. read more

The venue is absolutely beautiful! We used both the inside and outside, including the tented patio. Our cocktail hour was on the patio which more than accommodated our 80 guests. Dinner was held in the dining room and library because 10 tables of 8 would have been cramped. The buffet was set up nicely in the foyer. Cake cutting and dancing in the living room (drawing room) was fabulous! Everyone fit in the room comfortably. OHM site manager, Sam ensured patio was set-up as specified and he and his staff were available to ensure vendors were able to access the premises for set-up and break down. The only issue we had was when we originally booked the venue and just before our event. There were numerous administrative errors made with the pricing and the contract had several errors which we corrected (Hence a 4-star rating). Just before our event, the younger staff didn't seem to review the client file in totality because we received several unnecessary inquiries about the inside set-up plan which is irrelevant to OHM staff since they don't set-up the inside! Overall, great venue and everlasting memories captured in wonderful photos! read more

Beautiful venue in southern Maryland! Located opposite the outlets in National Habor, you'd never even notice the venue unless you were looking for it. Great outdoor area and great indoor. The venue is best utilized for outdoor events. The venue for our June 1, 2013 wedding ceremony and reception, OHM was a perfect choice for us! My husband and I immediately fell in love with the breathtaking grounds and view of the National Harbor. The only thing that I was initially hesitant about was the limited indoor capacity. The idea of having my guests in separate rooms was not ideal for our planned count of 150. This concern was swiftly eliminated with OHM's recent addition of an outdoor tent and some creative timeline/flow development by our wedding planner :) The staff (particularly Betty) was responsive and pleasant to work with throughout our planning process and proved just as helpful on the day of. From the comfy bridal suite to the gorgeous spiral staircase to the large brick patio, I'm glad that we were able to take advantage of all that OHM had to offer on our special day! Our guests truly enjoyed themselves and we've received several compliments on our venue choice. Thank you Oxon Hill Manor for helping to make our day so awesome! read more
